6 million for a russian striker...seems a bit much. The russian league aint exactly the height of football really....

Never heard of the lad tho but 6 million for an unknown = BAD MOVE imo

He's scored something like 90-odd in 190-odd so he obviously knows where the net is. I find it funny though that having watched Kuyt umpteen times and still not really known whether we wanted him, we're now turning our attention to a Russian we've presumably barely seen play. :(

I don't think there's many of us who can comment on whether this would be a good move or not given that we haven't go a clue what he's like.

I would say though that I've always thought that your better off going for players from eastern Europe as oppose to ones from a warmer climate as they will find it a bit easier to cope with being in this country. Although as there aren't many players who have came here from there I don't really have anything to back that up.

I was in Liverpool yesterday and talking to a couple of Scousers. Said they didnt want Kuyt, and certainly not for £10M. What people have seen of him dont seem to have been impressed.

At the moment, my line of thinking is that for £5M or under, we need to take a risk. Mind you, Im also thinking why didnt we go for Hasslebaink, though I suppose GR maybe thought he would have had a striker by now.

Mind, wernt we playing him up front on his own as well for periods? Cant remember now. Just that is what when we had our Tomasson, Ansersson, Guivarch, Kitson period.

Bit like we're prob gonna have now.

Out of interest, are you someone who would advocate the signing of a championship player for £4-5 million?

It's been said before, but we really should have signed Hasselbaink. We could do with him now.

Isn't it about time Mr. Face-like-a-smashed-cinema-seat told us what IS going to happen instead of using his back page exclusives to deny rumours printed in other papers!?
