At the end of the day I think we can agree that eating celery isn't going to burn off an awful lot of calories.

No one said it was going to burn off an awful lot of calories though, going for the Leazes/Straw Man approach eh?

Some foods do contain less calories than it takes to digest them though, which is all Cath was saying. The effects of eating these foods may be pretty negligible though, obviously.

Unless you eat it instead of a black forest gateau, or have someone leave it 6 miles away for you to find.

Or leave it till well past the mysterious "Saturday" in question, thus shedding a few pounds via a nasty case of gut-rot. Might improve the flavour though.

No, I'm saying that there is no such thing as negative calorie foods e.g. celery containing 6 calories but using up 7 calories to chew/digest. It is a myth, now I'll presume that you have no further questions or require any form of evidence to back up what I said so we can all agree that I am correct. :D

Seriously, does it really fucking matter who's right?

Celery doesn't contain many calories and it doesn't take many to eat it. End of debate.

Pointless fucking food anyway

Snopes.com, about the most reliable site linked off this thread, disagrees with that. The link's from the Yahoo article posted above.

I've always thought of celery as a gay food. If there were gay bars for food, celery would be there in a tight T-shirt dancing all night and reeking of poppers. So would muesli.

Any other gay foods you can think of to join the Alternative Munch Bunch?

If you search Google Image for 'gay juicer', it asks if you meant 'gay juice' I wasn't brave enough to click the link.
