Jose Enrique: Ex-Liverpool and Newcastle defender given all clear by surgeons https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47942648 Nice to hear.1 point

Very interesting article, had never heard of the bloke and certainly not of the prince either. There must be a dozen Prince Abdullahs in Saudi. Equally interesting was this one: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47830726 Somebody posted not long ago about how Emre, at 38, is still playing internationally for Turkey. Looks clear now why that is - he's been rimming Erdogan. Plays for and captains his pet team, rubs shoulders with him at his mate Turan's wedding, and makes the same ridiculous political gestures he does. In 2013, the Egyptian military overthrew President Morsi, and Erdogan made a huge deal about how corrupt the coup was, and how it had been orchestrated by Israel, and he went around at rallies making a four-fingered gesture that was supposed to represent support for Morsi, who was Egypt's fourth president. Emre was playing for Konyaspor at the time and made the same gesture after he scored. Any respect I had for the racist little cunt evaporated instantly. I was in Istanbul at the time, as it happens, and as soon as any Turk found out that I was Egyptian they immediately started giving me a load of bullshit about how great Morsi was (he was an awful president, an Islamist in the thinnest of disguises), how terrible it was that the military had intervened (Egypt would be Somalia by now if they hadn't) and how their great president Erdogan had "evidence" that Mossad was behind the coup, which he was going to present in parliament any day now (obviously there is no such evidence.) It used to do my head in listening to this crap, as if anyone with even the barest capacity to think critically could believe the lies Erdogan tells. Of course, FIFA takes no action as the sitting president blatantly interferes in football. Basaksehir is owned by the fucking Ministry of Sports. It is 100% a government institution. It's as if the Crown bought Leyton Orient and pumped hundreds of millions into getting them to the Premier League title, bending the rules along the way. They have an average attendance of 5000, for fuck's sake. The entire club is tainted top to bottom by association with Erdogan and AKP. Sorry for the rant but any thought of Turkey leaves an awful taste in my mouth now. For decades Turkey was the model to follow for secular Muslim-majority states. Now the entire government has pretty openly embraced Islamism and chucked the Kemalist mentality which has sustained Turkey for almost 100 years. The ruling party lost local elections in Istanbul for the first time in decades. The next day they started putting up posters declaring they'd won and thanking Istanbul for their support. They've already overturned 7 electoral losses in to a Kurdish opposition party. It seems all but certain that they will try to declare the Istanbul election was rigged (in fact, government sources have already been unofficially calling it "the most stained election in our democratic history.") The place has turned into a banana republic in just a few years, and it makes me sad.1 point

I think the first couple are under an hour long then the rest are about 80 minutes.1 point

There's definitely a couple of 74s - not sure if that's it. Decent scene setter as a start this week.1 point

Yeh it was utterly gash like There was a couple of bits that made me laugh loud. Flying space Leia was utterly hilarious. Also that purple haired bint who decided that the actual Star Wars plan in a Star Wars film was too male. A boring 10 minute feminist subsection, it’s like they had 15 different script writers.1 point

That last Star Wars was dogshit, tbf. Well, the script was anyway. I know it seems odd to criticise a Star Wars film for having a bad script but Christ, it was a load of shit1 point

Firstly he won’t because he can’t, Benitez is one of the best managers in the country the man has £5m defenders looking like world beaters ffs. Secondly he’s got some brass neck, it’s not like his sides are known for swash buckling exciting football ffs. I really want to know what it is Benitez did to Keyes to cause him to have such an absolute hatred of Rafa. I’d say Benitez might have fucked Keyes wife, but I’m sure Benitez didn’t have time to go to the zoo and pick her out amongst the other orangutans.1 point

Disgraceful but honestly exactly what I expect of them. Also if you go down the comments a bit immediately the “makes us look as bad as them up the road” deflection comes out, can he please point to a time one of our fanzines celebrated the death of a man that as far as I’m aware didn’t do a whole lot to them? (it actually doesn’t matter what he did tbh their actions towards him is absolutely rotten) As I have said in the past this is a fan base that in very recent times celebrated the death of Jimmy Hill and still insult him, racially abused the mother of one of their players (who now fucking hates them), strongly supported a man on trial for touching up a school girl and made excuses for why it was ok then abused her, and has given endless abuse to their managers threatened them outside of work threw bananas at Reid etc. I absolutely know there are some horrible dick heads in our support but where the fuck do they get this high and mighty craic from? They’re fucking scum imo.1 point

They'll always have that famous victory in the Checkatrade Trophy that made all this current fixture congestion in an already tiring season worth it. Oh wait.1 point

I think pace makes a striker more dangerous in the 2nd tier because the defenders aren't as good, aren't as well drilled. In the top flight, they're able to handle Gayle's level of pace and movement more easily than they can Rondon. We've seen it with Wood, Mitrovic, etc. Aye, if any of us were in charge we'd be offering a straight swap for Gayle who is proven to be exceptional in the Championship. To be honest if any of us were in charge we'd have just spent the £16m on Rondon in the summer.1 point
