I was stuck for something to watch last night so put on Dawn Wall. I get that over time you lose any fear of heights and living precariously on a cliff becomes normal but the sheer persistance to spend six years planning one climb and the physical capabilities to hang on to the tiniest cracks was incredible. Plus the story with his partner was a nice touch. Well worth watching.

Finally finished Fleabag. I thought the first series was decent in an amusing way but the second series went up a few gears going more into the emotinal side of the character. Very glad I went with it.

If the takeover falls through I hope those Arab guys will at least do the best sulking they can do and openly say why the deal was called off and not just do the Staveley and Kenyon thing pretending it was never a necessary business decision, but attack Ashley from every possible angle.

I was the one that pointed out he is a europhile last week. But first and foremost he is a narcissist and an opportunist. He is happy to fuck his family, business, the EU and the country to get what he wants. So what does he do? Get another deal? EU won't do this, especially with him*. Revoke? Get real. Referendum? Would destroy his party. GE? Would lose his seat. Extension? Can't happen without the above 2. And would destroy his party anyway. He's left with no option but to hard Brexit and try to pass the blame. Will he survive that? No, not imo, but there is literally no other better option for him. Unless he bottles it before his coronation, which is what i thought he would. * He may try to get an NI only backstop but theres not enough time and without the DUP he can't get it through.

It's this tl;dr attitude amongst politicians that has got us where we are. Nobody does details, but the devil is in the details. Tbh nobody even does the big picture. Rogers believes that no deal isn't inevitable, but the mostikely outcome nonetheless. It suits the EU, gives them all the leverage. Johnson can't revoke, he can't have a referendum, he can't have a GE, he can't renegotiate, and he probably can't extend. His only option is to try and renegotiate and blame the EU for us crashing out. But then what? Part of the argument underlined here is that it suits the EU to keep us in limbo for years or decades as they will have complete assymetric power over us. Unless and until the UK basically go back cap in hand and beg for the WA, there will be no trade deal. But it'll be politically impossible for the tories to this. Basically, this might be worse than anybody feared possible 3 years ago.
