  9. And this is what terrifies me and why I am proud to be a fanny about politics. If the tories win the next election by a large majority it won't just be welfare, education, and the NHS that cops it. It will be all our institutions, including the media and judiciary, and very possibly parliament itself. Its honestly possible we will suffer an irreversible hit and I admit I'm scared shitless of the prospect.

  10. So, Johnson actually was replaced by an ice sculpture. Can it actually get much more surreal than this? But what does @Dr Gloom make of this? The tories threatening to strip channel 4 of their license? https://www.buzzfeed.com/amphtml/alexwickham/boris-johnson-is-threatening-to-review-channel-4s?__twitter_impression=true I mention this because it's clear what pressure the BBC is under and it explains why, to everyone but Gloom, they have a clear bias towards the tories.

  24. Really? I think its arguably much worse, because its subtle. And guess what, the BBC is supposed to be impartial, whereas the CCHQ aren't. I am certain it was deliberate because there was no reason to do it, except to put Johnson in a positive light. Did the order come from the top? I don't know, that's why I think it needs an investigation. I'm wondering what it will take until you see there is a problem here. Probably be too late by the time you do.

  25. The idea that any institution is able to be incapable of bias is ridiculous. It seems clear which way the BBC leans. Not that this should be a surprise to anyone. I said a week or so ago that it's not good enough to simply point to right wingers bleating about BBC bias and use that to claim that it's probably impartial (both sides complain), because those right wingers are often utter morons. The BBC is biased against Labour and the left. I don't think it means to be, but through sheer fear of the Tories, they have become it. Spineless and broken institution.

  28. The more I’m seeing the less I’m convinced I was right. I think the BBC need to investigate the errors made during this campaign. I also think we need to review the government’s influence in the BBC charter and an independent group to look at the minimum number of debates and interviews required from the main parties in future elections.

  29. mind blowing article, or it would be if you weren't aware of the absolute contempt the police had for football supporters during that era. not much, if anything, has changed. duckenfield is suffering from ptsd? is he fuck, he suffers from a complete lack of compasion or remorse and has done for 30 years. he's a fucking lamentable, lying criminal. nothing else.

  35. Moaning because he's mentioned Newcastle in it. Well, two things; 1. They're guilty of bringing us into nigh on every football conversation, so turn about's fair, no? 2. It's a national newspaper, people need to be reminded exactly who Sunderland are. Newcastle's local "rivals" is a useful short cut.

  41. Long story short, ran out of keks after a week of putting up tents in hot sun, made the mistake of going commando for a day in cut off denim shorts. By the end of the day my starfish was like Lesley Ashe’s duckface. I had a bottle of aftersun and thought “ that’ll sooth it”. About 5 seconds after I slapped some on it… I actually did a handstand in the shower to soothe the puckering for about 20 minutes. Don’t put after sun on your sweaty winker, kids
