  4. Here in Spain people are saying the offer would be well for Emery and Villarreal. I explain. Villarreal signed Emery with a high value, because he came from PSG and Arsenal. Villarreal is not a team that has a lot of money and pays its players too much. They may have made an effort for Emery. Last year, Emery did very well. The team was doing well in the league and ended up winning the Europa League. They could have finished higher in the League, but in recent weeks they focused more on the Europa League because if they won it they would get access to the Champions League. This year, Villarreal has not started well at all. In the League, they have only achieved two victories in 11 games. They are currently 13th classified, 11 points from 4th and 8 points from 6th (last EL positition). It is fair to say that important players such as Gerard Moreno, Dani Parejo and Pau Torres have been injured and absent. What I mean. This year, making a good classification in the League seems complicated. Atletico, Real Madrid and Barcelona should be ahead. Real Sociedad and Sevilla are incredibly strong and there are other teams in a better situation like Betis and Athletic Bilbao and Valencia (including Rayo and Osasuna). What is the future of Villarreal in this Champions League? If they make it to the round, the round of 16 is probably their limit. If they fall as third in groups, maybe they have a good way in the Europa League. But it is possible that in two months, Villarreal will be in the middle of the table in the League and out of the Champions League. Which would certainly be a not-so-good season. And that perhaps, Villarreal began to think about firing Emery. Having to pay you a large compensation. Wouldn't it make sense to let him go now, save the compensation and on top of it receive the 6 million of his clause? That is the more or less general opinion in Spanish football on the matter.

  5. Good post. Could this be the week when CT can rightly say he is getting the hang of this forum lark?

  12. Why is keeping Jones or in fact anybody a factor? How about bringing a manager in who has his own coaching team that aligns with what he wants from his team? Willing to work with a current fucking loser we have on the books, great

  14. If we end up with Eddie Howe that’s tragic tbh Not just because I think he’s a fairly shit manager, but also because he could have been appointed day 1 and it’ll have took them a month to end up with him.

  15. Yes his football might be pragmatic at times but Rafa is what you want in a manager. A true gentleman like SBR, setting an example in football and in how to live one's best life for the players. And then you have cunts like cabbage head, who hangout for every panny they can suck from the club they "allegedly" love, who take the millions and are happy to be slum lords, instead of giving some back to the society that helped them make their millions.

  20. Any higher calibre manager looking at Sunderland will be doing so with the old adage about form and class front of mind: form is temporary, class is imaginary.

  21. I’d be surprised if the feelers hadn’t already gone out. I don’t see Rafa walking out on them, especially this soon after joining the club. The only way it would work would be if Everton told him he wasn’t wanted.

  22. To be honest, I don’t think he would touch the permanent job these days. I get the feeling the experience under Ashley killed off his enthusiasm. I know what you mean but I kind of think he might be tempted to take over until the end of the season purely because it’s us. I hasten to add that I have no expectations of this actually happening. Ewerk was right about him being perfect for selling the club to potential candidates though. Imagine Charnley? He couldn’t even negotiate a good salary for himself, knows he’s on borrowed time and had only survived so long because he’s a yes man.

  23. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the reason he fucked us off is because Charnley was fucking hopeless at selling the club to him.

  24. Im just going to say it now, I'll be pissing the bed if its Howe. Not just because we could have appointed the bloke a month ago its more that the step down from Emery to Howe is massive, is there no one inbetween that would have been willing to take it?? It must have been a right fuck on negotiating with the higher tier managers we've spoken to, whats funny is Bruce was the 11th on the list for Ashley and without doubt Howe must have been nearly 11th on the list for Staveley.. I dunno. Just feels like a desperation appointment if it happens now after our list of targets have been exhausted. Fuck sake man.

  25. Being disappointed we've gone from Conte, Ten Haag and Emery to Eddie Howe is not bed wetting. If he had been discussed as a 6months option on day one then most fans would have probably been behind it. 3-4 weeks in and it's got shades of Bruce as 11th choice manager. It will be interesting to see how long his contract is. If it's 4-5 years then I think it's a huge mistake. Next Summer should be a big overhaul of the squad. Howe isn't going to inspire top European players to joint the club

  27. 🤣 Hey I left it open ended with the question mark. I even knocked on the imitation wood table I was writing it on. With regard to this Emery situation, if Balague is correct then this is a major embarrassment for Staveley and co, there's no two ways around it. The club have acted like a lad who already had a girl coming home with them, who then scares her off by wittering on about how much he can dead-lift for an hour. Although I see Keith Downie is saying it could still happen and that the club still see Emery as their number one target, so maybe Ballbag got his wires crossed, or Emery and or Villarreal are just trying to get more money. Surely the club wouldn't make it be known that he was still their number one target if they didn't think they could get him through the door. It would just make the eventual rejection even more embarrassing, and make the second choice look like someone you took home with the beer goggles on. But maybe it is just a case of amateur hour at the club at present.

  29. This just highlights how quickly they need all the upstairs people in place long before January. Once it’s getting run by a director of football & sporting director it should be a lot more smoother. Also, I’m sick to death of hearing that we need someone experienced in battling relegation. Surely they are only “experienced” because they are shit.
