It may be perhaps important to point out that he’s an ex Nottinghamshire miner, therefore has a history of being a two faced self serving fuckin scab cunt7 points

Aye, no rules broken, but blatantly daft in the circumstances.4 points

No but it could contribute to their club being forced to postpone games. No one is asking them to live in a bubble but going to an indoor event with thousands in attendance is an easily avoidable risk at a time with record infections.4 points

Brother has just tested positive. Shared a car with him yesterday. Its in the post I reckon.. Hospital are having to check their policies on whether I can visit. Have to say the palliative care team there are second to none. Anyway, cheers all, this place has been a genuine help to me. I'm going to get the help I need and although I expect the next few days and weeks to be hard, I'm determined to have a good 2022. 👍3 points

Just listening to Monday night club podcast. They're talking about the change in Spurs since Conte arrival. How fitter they look etc. How the actual fuck does Steve Bruce get such a free ride with the media? They haven't once picked this up under Howe and how we look fitter etc.3 points

With Wilson out I still think we definitely need a new striker in for Watford and Leeds. Those two games could decide our season and I really can’t see where the goals are going to come from to beat them.3 points

It should've happened in the 90s but iirc Wimbledon folded when 2-0 up and Hans Segers who was guilty of match fixing with Grobelaar basically let two goals in. It was dodgy as fuck.2 points

New pictures on what was on the back of Harvey Barnes’ card. I’ve changed my mind, great lad, sign him up.2 points

The thing is all of that depends on anti-Johnson sentiment not necessarily anti-tory - if they do replace him then Starmer has to offer something else rather than just not being Corbyn or Johnson.2 points

Like my wife's aunty. Lives in Derby on the outskirts of a run down mining town. They're well off and voted Tory all their lives. Yet are so blind when they say how there are no jobs in the area, the town is falling to bits, no shops etc. Fucking clueless.2 points

That Lee Anderson piece is also interesting. Ex-Labour councillor, son of a miner but turned to the Tories because of Corbyn. In one breath he’s promoting the great Tory ‘achievements’ and in the next complaining that his constituents can barely make ends meet despite his party being in power for over a decade.2 points

Manquillo, Jesús Gámez, Trippier.... Newcastle only sign players that have played in Atletico as a RB?1 point
-
I’m personally not worried about the Trippier one, he seems to be a regular starter for Athletico and I’m sure they’re not bothered about selling him it’s more him wanting to move back to England, so I think it’s fairly natural they’d play him until he leaves. The bid yesterday was just a show of intent from our lot iyam, I think we will bid on Monday and hopefully get negotiations done by Tuesday, it’s fairly likely people weren’t really working much over NY’s weekend. My hope though is that we’ve got more going on this week than just Trippier, I really think we need 2-3 in by next weekend as January is a shit time to buy and it only gets worse the further into the window you get as teams get more hesitant to sell.1 point

Linked with Aubameyang on loan this morning. Given he’s off to AFCON he’d miss Watford and Leeds but more importantly I’m not sure whether he has the attitude for a relegation battle.1 point

Great little story from 1996. “I can remember the ball coming in and I was about six yards out. It was a fairly simple header, and I scored. I didn’t celebrate because I knew my place, so it was just a smile and kept my head down, but the Newcastle players congratulated me." “Newcastle continued to attack for the next 10 minutes and the fans were singing ‘mystery man is a Geordie’ – it was ringing in my ears!" “The games that stand out are scoring the winner in a play-off final for Cheltenham Town and getting promoted with Hereford United, but the night I played for Newcastle is also right up there.” “Ginola and Ferdinand were in their pomp at the time, so they’d definitely be two of the best players I ever played with." “It’s just a shame I had no family members there that night, or any photos or video footage to look back at it again. My son is 16 and doesn’t believe me that it happened, so I’d be keen to get a copy of the game to prove it to him!" “Regardless if I see it again or not, it’ll stay with me until my dying day.” More here: https://www.planetfootball.com/in-depth/mystery-man-is-a-geordie-the-story-of-newcastles-strangest-ever-goalscorer/1 point
