  1. Aye but remember, the lower down the table the club is, the better they play against Sunderland. The curse of being everyone's cup final. If only Sunderland, its fans and the city itself were just less damn impressive, they wouldn't get all these try-hard smaller clubs coming up and ruining things. Victims of their own success if anything, marra.

  2. Absolutely no fucking shock to see her play the soopafan card like. She’s a young lass, presumably without much in the way of responsibilities, doing something she (again presumably) enjoys. Don’t get me wrong, I think that, on the whole our away support is great and I’m sure the players etc appreciate it. But they’re basically having fun in their own free time. Do you want a fucking medal? On top of that when she spouted absolute shite about Willock she used being at the match as an excuse but now it elevates her opinion. Wraith probably gave her lessons on talking bollocks then getting defensive and playing the victim as he wrote the book on it

  3. Yesterday was a bit of a wakeup call for all of us. There's still a lot of players there that aren't good enough, most of us knew this, but I'm not convinced all of the new players are as good as what they have appeared to be in that great run either. Burn had a brilliant start but he's no Maldini he's just a decent player. Same with Tragett. Personally I'm far from convinced that we should be signing Targett permanently in the summer. The complete shit show we've had at leftback for years (particularly this season with Ritchie having to play there) has mean that a merely competent player has looked far better than that. Wood has done the job we needed him to do but shouldn't be more than back up if we have the aspirations that we are supposed to have. If I'm being honest the only two players we have who I'm totally convinced have the ability to step up are Trippier and Bruno. If Joelinton continues to learn the midfield position and improves anything like he has done this season then he may too. ASM may well more consistenly be able to show his quality with better players around him but at the moment he's still mixing the magic with dross far too often (the fact that the opposition know he's our only big threat certainly makes him easier to play against mind). I am liking Howe's reaction to the game. He knows where we are as a team and knows that we shouldn't have tried to chase the game and leave ourselves as wide open as we did. I'm not suggesting we should be going in against the top sides and playing as deep as we did with cabbage heed, clearly that got us nowhere anyway, but we have to be more understanding of where we still are as a team. I said all along I'd be happy with a couple of points from these last four games and we got three so I'm not remotely concerned that we will go down. I'm still confident that we'll get the three or four points we need over these next four games. But if we're going to move into the top half let alone any further up the league, there's a lot to be done in the summer.

  5. Aye every away trip I’ve been on has been class, win or lose. Better if you win but like all of us I’ve seen us get battered and still had a good day out. The problem is that these wannabe “influencers” are either especially stupid or have a controversial opinion for the sake of sparking debate & their profile rising as a consequence. (The true Geordie playbook). Plus I don’t think going to the match now that we’re a very wealthy, ambitious club should be that taxing. Its not like some of the shit we’ve seen under Ashley where the match was absolutely horrible & there seemingly no end to it. You couldn’t even enjoy a good performance because all you could see on a player was a price tag. So some 16 y/o who’s seen fuck all & who’s parents are probably financing everything can fuck right off playing soopafan.

  6. I used to love going to away games and went when I could including many grounds that don't exist anymore. Can't remember me getting to these places then sticking 50p in a phone box and ringing anyone who'll listen, 'Well I'm at Elm Park for a 3rd round fa cup tie. I MUST BE INSANE AND ABSOLUTELY CRAZY FOR KEEP DOING THIS TO MYSELF! LOL!'

  13. Adam Pearson’s comment about the hard work he was doing for the club, man. it’s not hard work (or work for that matter) and it’s not for the club.

  15. Everton have Burnley away on Wednesday too. A game CT will be expecting both sides to pick up three points in

  16. When I saw I had a notification in the Excel thread I thought it would be CT telling me to take up taxi driving instead.

  19. Aye I mean the club were actually filming that match themselves & posted highlights the day after. He’s a grifter & I think he’s largely seen as a bit of a joke by the women’s team. He probably isn’t on the U23s radar. Turning up to a match with an iPhone isn’t exactly filming it, also doing “vlogs” without a microphone sounds awful. It’s all just throughly unprofessional & very disingenuous. FWIW the women film their matches for performance analysis, I was talking to a bloke last year who was filming it.

  20. I don't know, do we really want people who have so little interest in politics that they can't be arsed going to a polling station to decide our elections?

  24. You've got to consider that many strongly pro-Brexit voters excreted all their morals and backed the fucking cunts last time out. The amount of blue on the political map in some areas is a fucking disgrace, but it was never going to be sustainable - now that Brexit is done, they'll return to voting Labour. I would imagine a lot of the youth vote who were too young to vote in the referendum are seeing what a fuck up it is and steering well clear of the Tories. My eldest said hell will freeze over before she votes for them self-serving arseholes. I imagine may her age group think similar.

  27. I reckon not getting asked to join the Athletic when they started up wounded his pride so much that he's never recovered. If I remember rightly him and Caulkin used to be good mates, back and forth on twitter etc. quite often but then Caulkin hired Chris Waugh to be the Newcastle correspondent. Caulkin and Waugh now get to spend their days writing loads of articles about Newcastle seemingly without a huge amount of editorial oversight and Luke is still at the telegraph covering a club/sport/region he appears to openly hate nowadays and constantly sniping at every other journalist he can.

  31. It’s a reference to the erstwhile Evening Chronicle rating system for films on TV. Oddly they thought a 5 star rating system needed an explanation. 1 star - Abysmal, 2 stars - Some redeeming features, etc. It comes up in gen chat every now and again. Like one of those things that oddly sticks in your mind from when you were a kid / years ago. I seem to remember Gordon Barr being the TV critic.

  35. There's been two home games fairly recently where they've just scraped a lead in injury time, it looks like they're struggling up front, getting possession but the other side is comfortable with it. This could be the year they finally sort their play off hoodoo but I wouldn't be betting on it, (if they make it to the play offs in the first place).

  36. Just had a look on whoscored.com. It took them 90+ minutes to get past Gillingham who rest in *checks table* 20th position. Prior to that, they drew 0-0 with Lincoln in 18th. Before that an emphatic 2-0 win! (both goals scored after the 80th minute, against rock bottom Crewe). In fact 5 of their last 7 games have all come against sides in the bottom 7. It's not looking great, is it?
    1 point
  37. No it fucking doesn't. We got beat by a spawny Everton goal, lost to a lucky Chelsea goal, and now we got turned over by a good Spurs side. Prior to that we were 9 games unbeaten. Today has been shite, but to claim that we're back to Bruce days is reactionary horseshit.
