  1. Aye we said this to some of their lot after the game, they agreed that if it had been played in November we’d have twatted them. We were in a pub across from Great Portland Street tube station, it was rammed with Mags post game. Every time two or three mancs wandered in with their shiny new scarves on they were greeted with a chorus of GEORDIE BOYS ARE ON A BENDER/ MASON GREENWOOD IS A SEX OFFENDER which most took in good humour tbf ☺️ Am not complaining or particularly pissed off with yesterday but to say Man Utd were shite isn’t a reflection of what I watched. After the goals they pretty much knew how to shut the game down and we at this stage of our development didn’t really know how to change that. We’re a few transfer windows away from that level . First we need to start taking some the chances we do create . Where Wilson was when the ball was squared clean across the six yard box in the first half I think only he knows. That’s the game changing chance, and he was AWOL. God knows what’s wrong with that lad but I think there’s more to it than loss of form. Maxi was getting double teamed which he can’t deal with (not many can tbf) Bruno faded then appeared to get injured going for a ball that maybe wasn’t there to be won. Their first goal wasn’t a free kick in the first place as long long as I’ve got a hole in my arse. Isak started well but as usual when I’ve seen him play gets frustrated with those around him and goes into the huff a bit. I asked a Manc if they’re confused about the Glazers, singing how they want them out just before full time holding aloft the scarves that had been handed out by the Glazers. I mentioned the titles and champions leagues they’d won under their ownership, he mumbled something about not being able to remember much after 1999 which was exceedingly convenient for the purposes of the conversation. That’s the biggest takeaway from yesterday, the sheer entitled arrogance of these fuckers. That was the hardest thing to take, not what happened on the pitch…

  2. The reality is that we're still a club in the early stages of transition. And you get a few months a year, and only one month within the season to implement the transition plan. So at any one time outside of transfer windows, that's what we're going to look like. A freeze frame of a club that is undergoing massive change. That'll be especially the case in the second half of the season where you gets the bits of business done in the January that you can. Sometimes you'll look like you've fucked up, but it's just cos you can't neatly iterate a version of what the finished article will look like.

  3. Re: Wilson it’s a worry because missing chances is one thing but he doesn’t look near to getting on the end of things. I actually think it’s the biggest factor in our struggle to break teams down at the minute.

  4. Couldn't agree more about that last paragraph. A mate of mine is a red and he is one of the worst for entitled arrogance. Ever since they started picking up results with ETH, I've had to endure his "Utd are still the greatest club in the world" shite. I'm still praying they are going through a purple patch before reverting to previous form. Anyway back on about us, I've calmed down since last night and can see that these players gave it everything out there and that's all we can ask. We didn't have the quality to break them down much like the game at Liverpool where we dominated but didn't have the killer instinct. Wilson's lack of form is punishing us now, hopefully Isak can get some games in his place but I'm not sure whether Eddie seems him as a striker or not. Isak with 2 of Gordon/Maxi/Willock/Almiron playing off him keeps the intensity up and maybe they can find their scoring boots again. Targett coming back might give BDB a rest and a chance to rotate a couple in defence. 15 games to enjoy now. Let's hope it's a Euro spot at the end of it.

  5. Balls, if you'd been on LNER rather than Lumo I was going to try and order a cherry tomato toastie to be delivered to your seat.

  6. Some good replies in this thread, apart from the obvious 'gutted' line I'm struggling to add anything, but then again, I'm just struggling after being on the piss all day yesterday. It's been mentioned that Wilson is clearly struggling himself with something and I think it's fairly obvious, also obvious is the fact that if we score their first it's disallowed, where there's a will, there's a way and they would've found a way to chalk it off if it was in fanny hair territory but give it to them in the same scenario. We've just got to become so good where shit like this becomes irrelevant. Very downbeat, the Liverpool game would've been forgotten if we win yesterday but now it's two costly defeats to two of the biggest cunts on the planet.

  7. Tell me about it. That's 0.57 pence a bean and a massive 22.9 pence per sausage. THAT IS A DISGRACE.

  8. The mackems can enjoy today, the fact is we got there the same weekend they lost to Coventry - levels. The above tweets are another thing they’ll never see, ex players coming to see the club.

  9. Completely agree with the post and sentiment. I somehow always managed to avoid really hating ManU until now but my GOd what a bunch of cunts some of their fanbase is. Not all cos I'm currently sat in the office with a ManU fan and she's alright, but then she is a genuine manc and come from a family of ManU supporters so I've no truck with that. If you have to single out one player who has let us down in recent weeks its Wilson. He could have been the difference yesterday and I'm really questioning why Howe started him, must be doing something different in training I guess. Isak look like a fine player but I'm not convinced he's a number 9. It's difficult yt be successful without a proper centre forward. I'd like us to buy at least one quality player in this position. Biggest fear now is can we pick ourselves up, will this have released the pressuire or will apthy set in? I can't see a successful result for us at the Ethiad next week and by that time the gap between us and 4th might be menatally unassailable. And I know we should be delighted with a lower Euro spot, but this will bring its own issues next year. Oh well, at least I'm not hung over this morning, just full of cold instead, typical.

  10. I think we were probably 3 players short yesterday, all of whom would cost 40-50m. Not sure gambling in January would have solved that issue.

  11. I’m fucking gutted this morning like, not going to lie. The game definitely felt like a marking point for some players going into the summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a largely different side this time next year. Saw someone describe it as the last day of Year 11 and that’s about right. Would have been nice for this group to win something before they get washed away by better players but it just wasn’t to be. It probably came a season too early

  13. There were dozens of them on the platform at Wembley Park tube, they’d plainly left the same time we had ie well before the trophy presentation…there didn’t seem to be any joy in them, spoilt by success to just regard winning a Wembley final as just another away game . If we win two or three trophies I think I’ll knock it on the head before I lose my inner child and become a miserable, point scoring, cold eyed consumer of football trophies. The Glazers are perfect for these, grasping, unemotional and fuckin cynical

  14. Got to say, I hope we do a Man City one day and hammer these cunts in their backyard 6-1, whoever our top class striker is on the day can lift up his shirt after scoring his hat trick with a t-shirt underneath saying, 'Hey, man! Yiz are fucking shite, yeez.'

  15. We're away, predicting a hammering does nothing towards maintaining the vibe, there's some poor butterfly, in the Amazon, flapping its wings to death trying to reverse your negativity.

  16. It’s left us short in the short term to give us much more leverage in the summer though. Thing is - who’s to say anyone would buy Wood for that sort of fee in the summer? Then you might be saddled with a forward who was just a stop gap. Shelvey had that extension clause and would be difficult to move on too if that had been triggered. What if Maddison or a similar type of player wasn’t available but us in the summer? Obviously that’s hypothetical but if Maddison is a target it’s unlikely Leicester would’ve sold him in January and jeopardise PL status. January isn’t the ideal time to buy. 12 months ago was different as we were absolutely desperate to get bodies in. Re: Gordon. That was securing a long term target who was eventually available at the price we were willing to pay. I know what you mean about certain clubs performing below what you’d expect, meaning a top 4 spot is potentially up for grabs. But the club’s only fucked up if they chose not to sign the right sort of players in the last window. Which seems unlikely. The other thing is we’ll definitely come under more scrutiny than anyone around FFP.

  17. "Dear Dan, When I walked up Wembley Way with you, a mere seven-year-old, on my shoulders en route to the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea in 2000, who could have predicted that the next time Newcastle would be fighting for a cup there, I’d be in the stands, watching my son in those gorgeous black-and-white stripes? It was only ever going to be this club for you. After all, you and Jack, your brother, drew teams out of a hat to decide which matches the pair of you would go to with our East Stand season ticket. Tyne-Wear derbies, top-of-the-table clashes and Champions League nights — you saw it all under Sir Bobby Robson. For your own football journey, first there was Blyth Town — I’m still puzzled you decided to be a keeper — and then Spartans. A left-back to begin with — I suppose you’ve come full circle! — then a centre-half, you won everything going. Those two years as a junior at Newcastle’s Centre of Excellence coincided with a growth spurt, when you struggled to adapt to your changing body. That letter on Christmas Eve, releasing you as a 14-year-old, was gut-wrenching. But it never held you back. You made sure you made it. You pushed trollies at Asda and grafted in non-League with Darlington before Everton and Fulham came calling. For your medical, I told you to “look the part”. In hindsight, perhaps wearing suits might not have been the best idea, seeing as you had to undress about 15 times. Then there was Yeovil — remember son, you’ve already won, and scored, at Wembley — Birmingham and Wigan. Away from football, you married your childhood sweetheart, Roz, and started a beautiful family, only to move about as far away as possible to Brighton! When the takeover happened, you told me: “That’s that, Dad. They’re never going to sign Brighton’s Dan Burn.” Then the speculation started and it was unbearable because I so wanted it to be true. That night you came back, when I was stood alongside you in the boardroom, it moved me to tears. Your debut against Aston Villa topped it. Captaining (briefly) against Brentford was another level still. That’s before we think about the quarter-final… I was so proud I can barely put it into words. I still can’t believe I wasn’t there, instead, I was watching from a bar in Spain, but it doesn’t diminish it one bit. Seeing you slalom in from the left and caress the ball in with your right foot, at the Gallowgate End, with a finish Alan Shearer would be proud of — I’ve watched it hundreds of times since and I still can’t quite believe it. That was just so special. Since then, I find myself driving places and suddenly I have a massive smile on my face because I remember that goal. Newcastle brought you home and you bloody deserved that chance. You are still the very same lad; the best father, husband, brother and son we could all wish for. Nothing has changed you. You’re still Dan from Blyth, with the same mates who have followed you all the way and everyone can see that. Your resilience, your perseverance, should be an inspiration to every young kid in the north east. You are no Peter Beardsley, but you proved that sheer determination and hard work can take you far. As our fellow fans sing, “You’ll never, ever beat Dan Burn.” You are living the dream of so many and you understand that responsibility. Sat on my shoulders 23 years ago, you were excited and euphoric walking up Wembley Way. This time it’s my turn. In the stands, I’ll be donning your match-worn shirt from the quarter-final, the one you saved especially for me. I’m welling up just thinking about the moment you run out… That will be my lad, my Dan, on the world stage, showing who he is: a great footballer and an even better bloke. I wish I could bottle up this feeling I have because it would make me millions if I sold it. I’m so immensely proud of you son. Love Dad"

  18. How shit is Antony by the way Keep him on his right foot and show him the line and he malfunctions. £87million!

  19. They didn’t need to get out of 3rd gear to beat us and they’ve played 8 games in the time we’ve played four. So no. Man Utd weren’t shit. All their players were at least 7/10 (compared with ours) apart maybe from Fred

  20. Good retort Tbf. Does anyone actually take any notice of True Faith any more? We didn’t lose that match because of a losing mentality.

  21. When you see some stuff from Man U fans on social media, I fucking pray we don't attract some of that type to our support, wouldn't know Arthur Albiston from Arthur Askey.

  23. I doubt EH will make big changes for Man City game but.........I'd like to see ASM / Isak / Gordon as a front three and give Almiron & Wilson a rest

  24. I thought the occasion got to us a bit. We should have been pressing them like we did against Southampton in the semi final. High tempo football. They've played a load more games than us and they would have tired in the second half. A lot of the game was played at walking pace though. Not sure if being caught twice on the break by Liverpool last week has Howe setting us up more cautiously? But that's not what got us in the top 4 all season. I'm a bit fucked off this morning that we gave De Gea one shot to save in 90mins. Their front 4 did fuck all all game and we still managed to concede twice. Time to let Isak and Gordon earn their transfer fees and make sure we finish top 6

  25. Not you, we should have known tbh, Yorkists have a history of getting clobbered by Lancastrians

  26. No. I don’t think it was a yellow. For the free kick it was an attempted shoulder charge but it was into Rashford’s back. He went down easy but was entitled to do so. It was a daft challenge to make

  27. This ☝️ Also wtf was that header first half, he glanced it but he was in front of the fucking goal and no-one near him. Also, I know Lascelles is limited but at least the fucker can nut the ball on target at corners, we are absolutely woeful at that.

  28. I think this gamble in January thing is a false premise, they'll know the players they want and if they aren't available, they won't take second best if they think they can get their first choice next window (or two). The aim isn't/wasn't to win the 2023 League Cup, it's to become a behemoth, that is the plan and they won't gamble (which has the risk of it not paying off) to get there. Btw I also have a feeling we won't sign Maddison.
    3 points
  29. It all comes back to who was available they should have bought though. I honestly think they way they play it is to wait for the right player rather than buy another for the sake of it (like Maddison, hopefully). That’s the way it should be as well

  30. We conceded from a set piece and a deflected goal that wasn’t even going on target. I’m not saying they didn’t deserve to win and I thought at HT that would be the FT score. So we didn’t really see a proper contest second half as they just sat and soaked up the pressure. I also agree we never looked like breaking them down. On the other hand there was very little in it. Some of the overreactions in the media regarding how ‘good’ they were is ridiculous. I also think we don’t concede the second if we haven’t given away the first one. Not making excuses but Gloom is correct pointing out how there’s not that big a gap, even if there should be in paper. Btw Bruno needs to learn sometimes you can’t win the ball. I know that’s his game but two daft challenges in his last two games have been very costly
