You won't be saying that when Matthew Le Tissier is presenting MOTD for a fiver and two rolls of tinfoil a week.6 points

Exactly. It's clear that everything points towards us winning the league next season.6 points

He has form. Cheated on his missus and got his bit of the side pregnant, also broke lockdown and got a couple of hookers in. TBF if I was a multi-millionaire footballer I'd probably be doing the same.5 points

I quite like this one, where he’s visibly conflicted having survived, but also knows he’s just shat his pants in a spectacularly public fashion.3 points

Pushed into being an MP or fancied it. Because it’s that easy if you have enough money and/or connections. Then he’s made chancellor because Cummings thinks he’s someone else who’ll do what he’s told. Then Covid, Partygate, etc. Even his accession was fucking bizarre with Truss beating him, then fucking everything up about a fortnight into the job. The the Parliamentary party bypassing the members. Sometimes events just push people into positions3 points

Realistically I think we are looking at 6th now, which would still be a great season. Hope we have a bit of fun with the pressure off now. Unleash the Maxi/Isak/Gordon combo upfront for Wolves, Wilson and Miggy need some time on the bench. Also hope Targett sees some more game time soon, get us some fluidity down the left.3 points

Cancel culture at its best. Cancelling human rights and Lineker to appease the fascist audience.3 points

Braverman, being the sociopath she is, will be looking at how this places her with a view to being leader after the next election or something like that. I.e. how to appeal to the membership in terms of gaining power. Without a care about solving the issue (probably knowing full well it won’t). Sunak’s probably already given up any notion of winning the next election and will turn up at the House of Lords a couple of times a year, if he stays in politics at all. Meanwhile fuck everybody else.3 points

It's like your house is burning down but you're more bothered about catching a spider that's crawled behind a cupboard. Obviously they're doing it for votes as they've got nothing else but you honestly wonder at anyone getting vexed by this but not anything else?3 points

He can afford to be pincipled here. One, he's loaded, and two, Sky/BT would pay him twice as much anyway. This may not work out as well for the right wing snow flakes as they think it will.3 points

You’ll note I largely agree with most of what you say . The difference is I don’t think it’s particularly thoughtful or insightful but if you think you can make a living out of it mate you go knock yourself out Holden makes a fair point but we’re unlikely to find out how the conversation went in January. And it’s not hugely different to what others have said, none of us are losing our shit over this opportunity that may have passed by..3 points

Best selling 12 inch single of all time iirc and the first run lost Factory Records 5p per copy because the sleeve design was so expensive. They didn’t expect it to be a commercial success. Absolutely classic Tony Wilson3 points

Mmm, I tink RobinRobin might argue the actual classic in that song, is a bit more than 30 years old, not that I'd know cause I'm only in my 50s, like you Gazza! At least piles only makes one orifice bleed, that abombination of a song and clip made my eyes and ears weep tears of blood.3 points

Milburn’s getting a bit uppity- asked for salt, vinegar and HP sauce on his Fish and Chips after he got the bus home. Money’s ruining the game.3 points

Also hearing Varadi's off to Sheff Wed as he's been shagging Keegan's lass and Wes Saunders isn't allowed in the changing room by himself. No confirmation if it's true but Stan Seymour is foaming with Hughie Gallacher as he still hasn't brought back the shears he borrowed to cut his hedge.3 points

One thing that is obvious is that the reason we didn't spend £100m+ wasn't because the owners didn't want to but because they didn't want to blow their summer budget in a difficult window. I know that Chelsea and Liverpool are having bad seasons and the perception is that their situation means there's an opening for us but if you look at our points total at this stage of the season then it would have had us challenging for top four in any of the previous four or five seasons at least. This isn't a one-off scenario for us. The plan is to build solid foundations and you don't do that by buying the wrong players just because they're available or gambling the next couple of years' FFP allowance by blowing it all in one shot.3 points

That's a great analogy actually. And you're right. I've read a fair bit of political commentary on this and the prevailing consensus is that this just shows how FUCKED the tories are, this is all they've got. And I doubt Sue appeals to anyone but the lunatics, and probably not most of them for obvious reasons. Let them keep digging their grave.2 points

Aye, it's definitely possible to have loads of money and fuck things up. See Everton and Villa. If you get it wrong, it can take a long time to unwind your fuck ups. We should look at the patience as a good thing BTW. Staveley was talking at that football in business thing last week and was constantly talking about the Saudis being long term investors. She said that PIF is basically a pension fund and pension funds are holders of long term assets. That's evidenced in the behaviour to date and it puts to bed all the shit about they'll dump us for Man United or Liverpool. We're in good hands.2 points
