  9. So, tomorrow, going under the knife, having two “warthins tumours” removed (benign non dangerous) but one is an egg under my jaw and uncomfortable, so they gotta go. I will be sliced on the side of my face from top of ear down my neck so I shall expect, on my reappearance, to be known as Von Toonpack. Any links to purveyors of monocles would be appreciated.

  10. I mean they’re 9th in the division below. And 6th would be their highest top flight finish for (I think) 69 years. Nailed on tbh

  14. Great family day out for anyone with nippers. The atmosphere is "in development" much as the team is , but I was really surprised by the attendance. Amanda and co were in attendance and gave a good presentation at half time. The match had to be delayed by 15 minutes due to the box office still having a queue of hundreds.

  17. Only read a couple of pages here. But for me, this was purely fitness / tiredness and them playing almost exactly the same way we do. I don't think it was a poor performance by us, more as a remarkable one from the opposition (which I suppose is how teams must feel about us!) They were quicker to the ball - Gordon looked slow (and he isn't its just in comparison) and we missed Longstaff imo - once again teaching me a lesson that I don't know anything about team selection. I have questioned his inclusion so many times (same with Willock and murphy) and everytime I do the lads have a screamer. We had glimpses of this against Brentford (I watched that match) where if the team plays to close us down as aggressively as we do, we seem to lose options to release the ball very quickly. For the first half it looked like Brentford had "learnt how to deal" , but then they collapsed in the second, thankfully. From my view Toney should have had 2 goals by half time , not even counting the pen. Last edit - Also, I thought we saw something different from Howe in the Brentford game - he lost patience and made some pretty drastic changes compared to what I've seen before. Wilson and Isak seem to have had a great understanding coached into them already, they were immense in the second half. All that said, we've won away from home in London more than once - these in themselves are points I never would have expected - We'll bounce back at home, no bother.

  23. Fuck knows. On a very basic level, we're apparently boring and turgid to watch, and we've averaged 1.60 goals per game in the league. Compared with their 1.43. Obviously we've a much better goals conceded ratio which frankly I can't be arsed to calculate, but keeping clean sheets must be boring? To be fair though, their league is a much higher standard. Wibble.

  24. Where has this mass delusion that they're suddenly purveyors of beautiful football come from? I know they been turgid dross for years and maybe three passes put together is that much of a huge leap but I've watched a few of their games and while there is some youthful enthusiasm and effort there's absolutely nothing special as their results illustrate. They've had some strange delusions over the years such as being "classy" and their support being something special but I think this latest one is the strangest.

  29. Aye, it's pretty much win win for us. I'm happy for them to miss the play offs. I'm happy for them to get to the play offs and miss the final. I'm happy for them to lose the final. I'm happy for them to win the play off final and get humped for 38 consecutive matches. My absolute favourite scenario would be for them to lose to Boro on penalties at Wembley. For the obvious hilarity and I would actually like to see another NE team in the Premiership, plus always quite liked smoggies. Be nice to have a sort of derby again without the edge tbh.

  36. They'd more likely spunk a decades worth of money on over the hill the players that don't want to be anywhere near Sunderland then be in financial bother. A bit like Forest with less appeal.

  37. Both. Our poor performances would have been irrelevant if Villa weren't on it, and if we were on it, their performance wouldn't have been as impactful. e.g. Bruno and the Joes in the middle were passive, disjointed, wasteful and unimaginative. Had they been anything like their usual levels than Buendia Ramsey and McGinn would not have had the time and space to cause our back line so many problems. If our back line didn't look knackered Watkins' movement wouldn't have been so damaging etc.

  38. Looking at the lineup I can't really see what he could have changed. It sounds (I didn't see the game) the tactical error was not making changes earlier. I am not sure if you don't think Gordon should have started because of his tantrum or because you thought someone should have started in front of him. But I think Gordon has looked decent and effective since coming off the bench so deserved his chance.

  39. Dissapointed with the lack of chat here around Stirling Albion being 9 points clear in the Scottish 4th tier, Hibs winning the Edinburgh derby and Celtic having to play on an artificial pitch. It's almost like we're watching entirely different sports.
