Got MOTD on here. The Arsenal game. In the second half Calafiori commits his second bookable offence. Regulation yellow card, no question about it. Ref does fuck all about it and then books the Leicester player for waving the imaginary card at him. Its 2-2 at this point, game on a knife edge, and the ref completely bottles it. It's the sort of decision where you know he's got Arteta's crybaby press conference and an Arsenal club statement in the back of his head. They should have been docked points for that, they knew exactly what they were doing.7 points

@Dr Gloomand @wykikitoonyou thick fucking no-reading-comprehension cunts! @Kid DynamiteI'm simply copying you in for information. This is what I wrote. I'm arguing AGAINST Shearer who says it wasn't a penalty. In other words, I'm saying it was definitely a penalty. Given and Shearer are who I'm calling dinosaurs. They don't want an incident like that to be a penalty, but the game has moved on, and if they want to be pundits in 2024, they need to stop claiming an incident like that isn't a penalty. It's been a penalty for at least a decade. Just reply to this and apologise. No need to start a new thread and I won't respond to your PMs.5 points

Missed watching the game live for a family birthday party. Watching it this morning I was very impressed with our performance. Hopefully now that sets the standard that we take into subsequent performances. I think Howe got the selection and tactics spot on today. It was brave without being reckless. And solid without being passive. There certainly seemed to be an attitude adjustment compared to the Fulham match. Almost everyone had a good performance (despite the odd error here and there). Just need to bottle that apply it against everyone else and we'll be flying again. All-in-all, proof positive (if it was needed) that this is still a very very good side. Credit to Howe and co. for getting a resounding response. Onward and upward.5 points

It's 3 game weeks for all the lads in Europe for the foreseeable now. Villa just came off a 3 game week with the League Cup and they've now got Bayern on Wednesday and Man United on Sunday. If we keep heading in the right direction, the fixture pileup for these teams should do us a load of favours.4 points

I don't share the vitriol for Shearer and Given but the first bit is so blatantly true that it barely even needs saying anymore. It's also true outside the box where players so often do the same to win a free kick (Bruno for example does it routinely), get to the ball first and any subsequent contact from the opposing player is a foul. I don't have any issue with this rule/interpretation either. If you come for the ball and don't get it just about any impediment you subsequently offer to the player who did get the ball can be adjudged a foul. The rule is it's a free kick if you "impede a player with contact". There's contact and Gordon's access to the ball is impeded therefore it's a foul. Same with Joelinton.3 points

Tonali kept drifting over to the RW and joining in triangles in tight spaces with Trippier and Murphy. Made a big difference in helping to keep the ball against a high press. Got no idea why Howe has been reluctant to start him with Bruno and Joelinton. They looked class today3 points

Just boarded the Harwich-Hoek van Holland ferry. I was going to read my book and sip mocktails in the deck lounge like the classy motherfucker I am, but I might have to retire to my windowless cabin (don't get too excited, MF) and watch MOTD2 instead2 points

He's not been at peak fitness, that'll be the only reason he's been held back. He got cramp on Saturday, sort of shows he's not quite there yet.2 points

I don't know who had a worse game, Man U or Drury desperately keep trying to shoehorn Fergie comebacks against Spurs from years gone by? It'll be sad face, concerned look emoji time in the studio now. Spurs very wasteful should've been at least six.2 points

Did they show Grealish (native American name: Windblows Falldown) leading with his arm and catching Schaar ?? That was a yellow, as was the Tonali elbow even with the slight (but wholly acceptable) over-reaction2 points

When he's getting tired he's getting his pocket picked which is disappointing because he either isn't getting/hearing the call or his decision making is being affected by a lack of fitness. There was one instance late in the game where he was waiting for the ball to come to him which every footballer knows you just cannot do. He's so strong on the ball, he just needs to shield it better when he's tired.2 points

Remember when we tried to get Cole Palmer on loan (same window we were trying to get Lingard iirc). Gutted we didn't pull that off with some sort of option to buy. He's ridiculous.2 points
