Talking about this stuff with like minded people is, for me at least, important. It reminds me that for all my frustrations and fears about the world, I'm not alone. As someone with an anxious disposition I do often feel better just running things past you guys. Like for instance I posted the other day about Trump and Starmer, and KCG made a counter point and I felt better. Sometimes of course things are as bad as I think they are, and no one has anything reassuring to say, but at least we're all in it together. I do try to avoid being constantly in politics chat these days but I think dabbling is ok for the sake of sanity. If we don't do that, then speaking for myself at least, I feel even more powerless and isolated in the storm. EDIT - I'm gonna add as well that I also appreciate (and I think Renton knows/values this too ) that Gemmill's suggestion here is an attempt at kindness and care because he can see the anxiety in what is being said. Sometimes switching it all off is indeed the right thing.

Location is absolutely key. There isn’t a stadium in the country in a better location than ours. The obvious comparison is Man City, I’ve been in Manchester for 10 years now and I’ve seen the redevelopment around the area. I’ve been in the home and away end at their new stadium. Ultimately, they have thrown hundreds of millions at it, it’s impressive facilities but it’s a dump. It’s at the arse end of “new Islington” (where I had a flat) which before the stadium had been a horror show unless you were going to sankeys for a couple of pills. The lower capacity, if redesigned well could incorporate more corporate seats (where the real money is), at minimal loss/or increase of normal seating for the regulars, increase the commercial income from extras like drink/food, keep the demand high so we don’t end up with an “emptihad” situation which kills the atmosphere and most importantly keeps us city centre. Could be chatting shit though, I haven’t seen the feasibility reports.

The German parliament just voted for a big change in its asylum/border policy. Given how the world is right now, I can see a version of events where this repeats itself throughout the EU and free movement ends up going back to being more restricted like it used to be. I suppose that could eventually be what helps to sway the mood in this country in favour of some kind of EU rapprochement, since it was one of the key Brexit arguments in the first place. Assuming we're still capable of adult debate in any meaningful sense by then, of course.
