I think Dyer and Bellamy both did a history rewrite on their relationship with Robson were neither of them were particularly honest with themselves. You’ve had that with other players from that era too like Bramble and Jenas, although in their cases it was blaming the fans for their own shortcomings in terms of mental strength. I think Robson was eventually knackered when he lost the likes of Shearer too, if the rumours are true, and the ridiculous balancing act of the younger and more experienced players factions couldn’t be managed anymore. If Robson did want to replace Shearer he was probably correct as for at least the last two seasons here all he was arsed about was breaking Milburn’s record, arguably to the detriment of the team. Bellamy’s a funny one. For all lots of opposition fans hated him the worst thing he ever did to other teams was play well and make his mouth go. He didn’t cheat or dive or leave his foot in like sone cowards do. And he gave 100%. Basically played the game like I think people should. He was definitely part of the problem off the field though. He seems to have made a lot of mistakes and, apart from the financial woes, he was never anywhere very long as a player. Which tells its own story. I’d like to see him do well and properly turn his life around with Wales though. I think people can change and grow up (being a footballer must be a fucking weird life - good and bad). And he should definitely be thought of as someone for whom his time here was more good than bad. Much more so. He wants a fucking slap for some of the things he’s said since he left though. The fans here adored the little cunt.5 points

https://www.athletic-club.eus/en/news/2021/01/09/how-athletic-turned-red-and-white/ Aye, clearly the clubs historian knows less than some knacker with a Jackanory complex. If the above actually happened, the poor fella probably just told them any old shite to get them out of the door.4 points

If Bellamy was shit he wouldn’t have gotten away with his attitude. The counter argument is that good managers should be able to manage these mavericks better. I hate Dyer more than anything. He seems regretful the way he treated Bobby but he can get fucked as far as I’m concerned.4 points

I don't remember a rampant Souness apologist. I do remember there were people who felt Souness and Bellamy was as bad as each other and that it wasn't about taking one side or the other. Bellamy was an absolute arsehole. A gifted player, but too many wanted to use that to preclude him of any blame in the breakdown within the dressing room. Bellamy, Dyer & Jenas were all fucking toxic as far as I'm concerned.4 points

Yeah. we've hit a massive milestone by winning something this season. It might be subconsciously easy to take the foot off the pedal slightly which wouldn't result in a good run. Whatever happens we can look at this season as being great. I'd love us to get CL but if we don't then im still happy.4 points
-
You can be sure that all of this spending has not been done with an eye on them facing to make CL. If they can be kept out of it for a couple of years, they'll really start to have problems.4 points

yeah, the system isn’t fit for purpose. And the £110m loss figure - or what ever it is - hasn’t been adjusted for inflation for years either. It’s a completely arbitrary line in the sand designed to protect the cartel. On the plus side it has backfired to an extent by constraining spending at all clubs - other than Chelsea, who continue to brazenly flout the rules with their circular finance - which means that hopefully no cunt can afford Isak. Its also put more of a focus on good coaching and recruitment and made for a more interesting league this season. So ffp rules in theory aren’t bad, but the way they’re implemented is bullshit4 points
-
Yeah but isn't that the fundamental issue with football finance and PSR as a whole? The system is setup to protect those sat at the financial top table and fuck over anyone who dares to try and reach those heights. None of us want another Chelsea-like situation, but the mechanism as it is needs overhaul. It's far too restrictive. The reward for on-field success is financial vultures coveting your talent and offering to fill your bank account to keep you from losing sleep over PSR. Completely wrong for me.4 points

He made 14 european appearances in his entire career all in the uefa or intertoto cup, the idea (that only he has) that he was world class at any point when Shola Ameobi made 51, with 11 in the champions league proper is laughable at best. What a fucking bellend, even in a 9 year old video4 points

750,000 fans for the FA Cup parade in 1973 but couldn’t sell out Roker Park for the home games in their one and only European campaign the following season? Makes you think4 points
-
He's like some psycho crowd detective. Am confused though, on the one hand we've gone massively OTT on the celebrations but on the other apparently it's tragic we may have less fans than watched Elton John on the pyramid stage? Oh and it was tragic we had a parade for losing in 99, but not when they lost in 92 cos they were second division wibble. And anyways, in 73 they got a well documented 750,000 turnout, three times the size of the town's population. We know this because Sporty is on the case examining the sepia photographs.4 points

You still can't use a semicolon, though. I don't know how someone who pretends to literary ambitions has such a poor grasp of ordinary grammar. Semicolons join independent clauses; your second clause has no verb so it is not an independent clause. (That was a correct usage, if you'd like to take notes.) You're plenty good at wishing death on people from the internet though, I guess that's a feather in your cap.3 points
