It would also be INCREDIBLY funny if we signed Wissa and brentford were then comfortable telling man u to fuck off on Mbeumo10 points

If we get Wissa and retain the rest of our forwards / wingers along with addition of Elanga then we’re significantly better off in an area where we really lacked strength in depth. Getting Elanga plus Pedro or Ekitike and keeping Isak probably was never realistic. Especially if we’re looking to sign Trafford plus another centre back. We just aren’t there as a club yet.9 points

Liverpool supporters really really want to be the hard luck tale or the chippy underdogs fighting the good fight, don't they? It's pathetic and completely unbelievable. They're the fuckin walking definition of a messiah complex.9 points

So the whole Isak/Ekitike thing boils down to literally nothing. Liverpool haven’t bid for either of them yet, we asked about ekitike and said no thanks. What a roller coaster of a couple of days.8 points

I choose to interpret this as us baiting liverpool into bidding for him and then leaving them to it.8 points

Given the straight choice, any player without a previous affiliation to either club would prefer them. In the last 10 years, they've won: PL x 2 CL FA Cup League Cup x 2 In the last 70 years, we've won one domestic trophy. We can't be in a huff if players prefer to join a club that has a much better recent record than us.8 points

They’re absolutely tying themselves up in knots in that Isak thread on there now from the elation of Liverpool signing him to it now being a mistake as we’ve pissed pff the player by making him stay. Not to mention this absolute diamond: Imagine6 points

Dear me, 1500 posts on the potential Isak transfer so far. Scousers are now their fwiends.6 points

Wissa is a more realistic addition than Ekitike. Wissa complements the squad; Ekitike is suggestive of an Isak replacement. A forward line that consists of picks from the following is not underwhelming to me: Isak Elanga Wissa Gordon Barnes Murphy Osula We're starting the build the squad depth we've been sadly lacking for years.6 points

Joseph hit that farm worker on the head with a shovel, and walked with the dead body for 3 days to cover his tracks. Not a doubt in my mind.6 points

If Isak does go and speaks broad Scouse while spitting on the front row in his first press conference, then we will know he has engineered this move.6 points

I'm fairly sure Ornstein and Romano only get the information they do because they do favours for these clubs. Like, for instance, claiming that Liverpool must have received encouragement from Isak just to further destabilise the player and his relationship with the club. They're snakes, these lads.6 points

I just love how the dippers are all for Isak and think he should leave. But Real are cunts for taking 'Trent' away. Scab BASTARDS6 points

She must've learned this fascinating tidbit about Howe's friendship with the Liverpool DoF from her source: PL. Credit to her. She's managed to maintain all of its original charm and immediacy in relaying, fourth-hand, a third-hand, second-rate anecdote. 😜6 points

Mackems are going out for all 3 domestic cup trophies this year. The inherently moral cup, the classic classiness cup, and the lads' likability cup.5 points

30 years ago we bought a fella called Les Ferdinand who was almost 29 and was debatably not our first choice. He proved to be anything but underwhelming.5 points
-
He absolutely is, but he also isn't a bloke to be trifled with and more importantly, I think he had a point. He took measures for his club to ensure he didn't have a conflict of interests should Forest have joined Olympiakos in the CL and therefore rightly points it was within Palace's gift to do the same. The argument that Palace wouldn't know they were going to win the cup when the deadline hit is irrelevant - they were still in the cup, the possibility was there, it was on them to act in accordance with the rules. Absolutely agree with the last point however - if this happens to say Chelsea, no demotion is going to happen.5 points

If we get Wissa then that would mean having last season's second and third top goalscorers (exc. pens).5 points

Yeah, if we have walked away Liverpool are now in the position of either committing to a deal that wasn't their priority, or walking away themselves which does nothing to solve their striking dilemma. Them walking away from Ekitike doesn't strengthen their position for Isak this summer, and while he may well be an improvement on Nunez, he's not the proven finished article like Isak. for us, we haven't been bullied into losing our best player, or paying over our valuation of a player. We can still go off and sign Scalvini and Trafford, plus a cheaper striking option who we don't rate as highly as Ekitike. As I've said before, there are other Ekitikes out there, there aren't other Isaks.5 points

I'm finding this transfer saga quite tedious, I don't want to be duking it out with Liverpool in a dutch auction, to sign some moody french beanpole who probably has no intention of playing for us ever. Im getting flashbacks to the Guehi debacle last summer and I really havent got the stamina for this shit. I much preferred the days when the first we knew about a new signing was the press conference.5 points

I actually only found out in recent years that I have convict ancestry (even though I'm from fuckin NZ). My great-great-great-great-grandfather stabbed some guy in a field outside a bar in Leek. The other bloke pulled a gun on him after they went out for a punchup but ol' grandpa Joseph had a knife. Joseph won, the other bloke died, and old man Joseph was sent to Perth for manslaughter. He moved to NZ after he gained his freedom like 25 years later. He'd been working on a farm outside Perth. A fellow worker injured himself very badly and Joseph put him on a cart and trekked three days to try and save him. The guy died, but Joseph was given his freedom as a result for a show of bravery or whatever. I found out all the details of his crime and being freed because we had his name from a family member. I requested the court documents and matched up the details based on what we knew from the transportation records & name of the ship they sent him to Perth on. Pretty cool. This all goes to say, don't fuck with me. I've got murderin' in my blood!5 points

I think MF had it spot on when we were first in for the lad. I.e. his surname sounds like the noise you make when you’re tickling a baby or a toddler.4 points

The same Klopp who broke the world transfer records for both a defender and a goalkeeper? Aye, he ran that club on a shoestring budget.4 points

The Athletic have got an article about "Newcastle's Isak dilemma" as well which opens with the "conundrum" we face. They're so used to asking "what difficult decision does lesser club A need to make now that favoured club B would like one of their assets?"4 points

It did cross my mind when I read the reports that he might've been at his old games again. Hey! He killed that guy for it, fair and square. Well square (in the head, with the shovel).4 points

he’s a player for now though. Scored over 30 goals in the past two seasons. It’s rare we sign a player in his prime. I’m all for it - give him a four year deal and you’ve got a quality addition to the squad with legs, unlike the bloke he’s replacing who I presume is Wilson3 points

I do still believe that part of our move was to force Liverpool into action and show their intentions so that we don’t see a prolonged transfer saga involving Isak damaging our preseason.3 points

She must've learned this fascinating tidbit about Howe's friendship with the Liverpool DoF from her source: PL. Credit to her. She's managed to maintain all of its original charm and immediacy in relaying, fourth-hand, a third-hand, second-rate anecdote. 😜 This is unmitigated horse shit. Why would Howe encourage the sale of his most valuable player? The attempt to draw a dotted line to Howe with zero evidence is pathetic. LFC are plainly trying their luck, imo there's nothing more to it than that. The more interesting question is why are LFC doing this - do they genuinely believe they have some hope of success - despite every message from the club in the close season being he's not for sale - or are they just trying to unsettle Isak? Of course Taylor has no insight on the real questions because she's a shocking journalist with no connections with either club.3 points
