I appreciate the advice from a level-headed zen master like you who as recently as yesterday wished death on the player.12 points

Fabrizio Romano: Here we go Sesko to Liverpool confirmed, expected to play alongside Ekitike AND Isak - FIFA expected to change the rules so Liverpool can field 22 outfield players. Only Liverpool though, because as we all know their ceiling is much lower than that of a team owned by a gulf state.11 points

Whatever he goes on to achieve he'll never simultaneously "pop the football cherry" of how many people? 500k? ever again. He'll be playing for clubs who's fans think they're entitled to win something whilst forgetting the whole gig is fixed in their favour. I understand he'll want to try to win the Champions League which is fair enough but that'll be a Goliath v Goliath thing. I suppose if I was a footballer with no local connection I'd put more value on that. But he won't be able to repeat what he and the other players acheived last season; he'll never get the emotions of a David winning for a change and the esteem in which he's held because of it. He'll never, ever be Dalglish tier at Liverpool. And now he's fucked it here too. Fairly sure that doesn't matter to him too much, as someone said probably the striker in him...9 points

It seemed from both Downie and the GeordieJourno lads that he's going and it'll be Liverpool. And we won't get 150m for him, probably closer to 100-120m (which I guess Isak is to thank for for taking his desire to leave public). Also, it was mentioned that Liverpool probably needed to sell first, Diaz, Nunez and Eliot were mentioned. As things stand, I think the club would be best to assume he's gone and start ramping up the effort to find a replacement pronto. What time is it in Singapore? Have the internet cafes opened yet so Howe can get on ICQ and get things rolling? "Hello, Brentford, a/s/l?"8 points

Let us never forget the patron saint of entitlement (and liverpool hero) jurgens take on all this not so long ago Of course this was before he became the "Global director of sport" for red bull cunt.8 points

Never forget Liverpool can only do this in large part due to joining the ESL bandwagon and being rewarded by UEFA for not going through with it https://archive.is/gtPwa8 points

We should get aggressive and say we acknowledge the player's position and await a formal bid from his stated preferred destination. If this is not received by next Friday, the player can leave next summer as it doesn't leave us enough time to find a replacement.7 points

I'm shocked anyone can see any positives in all of this. If we were a club that was being run at all (which it seems we are not at the moment beyond what Howe can try and keep together) I would agree that we always knew there would likely come a time where we would need to sell a top player to release the financial headroom to add a number of other top players to the squad. The problem is now, we are a rudderless ship so how can we have any confidence that if we sold Isak for £150m+, we would then see two new quality strikers, a midfielder, a central defender and a keeper come in who could all positively impact the team next season? How can we have any confidence that the powers that aren't there can convince Bruno, Tonali, Gordon, Tino etc that we are still a project moving forward and that we can match their sporting and financial ambitions? I had every faith that we would make signings this summer to improve the squad but lets face the fact that this summer has pretty much been an absolute clusterfuck and the five weeks or so that remain of the transfer window look like they may as well be five minutes at this point. The most likely scenario now is one way or another we will be in a weaker position at the start of this season than we were at the start of last. We will either have an unhappy, unmotivated striker or a new one who is not as good. I have no expectation that we can even replace the other positions that we have lost players in since the start of last season let alone improve on them.7 points

I’ve woken up this morning and I’m at a stage where if we lose Isak then we lose a world class goal scorer for a massive fee. This isn’t like Liverpool losing Salah where they’re going to lose a huge number of goals and assists. He can be replaced, maybe not the same quality but, going all Moneyball, the PSR headroom would mean we could improve the overall side if we reinvest wisely. The big issue we have is the timing of all this and the club’s complete inability to complete incoming transfers.7 points

I asked Gemini to recreate this using Eddie Howe to replace Keegan and this is what it came up with. Tbf, surreal as it is, it probably is close to what NUFC's current comms team would come up with.5 points

Keegan was the absolute master of communication too. Him coming out on the steps of the Milburn to talk directly to the fans is one of my fondest memories of him. How close he got.5 points

Trouble is we're (seemingly) too soft. I reckon we'll let him go, let him go this window, let him go to a direct rival (yes the red dipper cunts) and let him go for less than £150m. I'm channelling Gemmill level predictions here, so let's all cross our fingers!5 points

I mean we all hold all the cards. Yes he can strop and all that, but there is no reason we have to roll over and have our tummies tickled. If Liverpool want him then they have to pay what we demand.5 points

Ateod it's just shear greed on Isak's side, with an element of ingratitude. NUFC and Eddie Howe made him the player he is today. Of course he has a shirt career and will want to maximise on that to an extent, but he owes us loyalty in making the transition as smooth as possible for us. As has been said, the timing fucking stinks. I've never wanted to screw over an ex-employer even when they've treated me badly (mind, that may be more about burning bridges). And this is more than just the club, it's the fans he's screwing. Remember this Alexander? Not many players will have tarnished their reputation with us in the way he has. Iirc Cole was not the one to instigate the ManU move, for instance. If he lands up in Liverpool I hope he flops.5 points

As Keith Downie said, those who were ITK, knew that Isak hasn't been happy about this for a while. This probably explains why he went AWOL over the last couple of months. Sadly, I think this has tainted the legacy he has here. It's like when Andy Cole left. The guy was unbelievable but hes not often mentioned. Anyway he's definitely not going to be staying after all this so we just need to get used to the fact that he's leaving and we might just have to accept that he's going to Liverpool. To say that potentially we were going to be starting the season with Ekitike and Isak last week to this week looking at both of them being at Liverpool, you couldn't make it up and at the same time you couldn't make it more Newcastle!5 points

Just going back to Andy Cole. Keegan authorised that as he wanted an all around better CF (turned out to be Les). I don't think Cole angled for a move. It certainly wasn't made public if he did.4 points

i've moved from denial to anger in the grief process. if isak doesn't want to play for us we can show him the door and he can fuck off. if we can get £150m it fixes our psr problems in the short to medium term plus if we get wissa and sesko we could arguably be in a better position than we were with isak and wilson. isak is world class on his day, but he isn't always fit, he lacks physicality, occasionally goes missing and has been known to fluffs one-on-ones when he has too much time to think about it. i don't want to lose isak. sesko isn't PL proven, but is Isak really worth twice as much as him? time will tell i suppose. I'm also assuming we replace him with sesko. not sure which other CFs are available who could fill the gap but it looks like sekso is potentially available. it also looks like i've moved from anger to bargaining in the time it's taken me to compose this post.4 points
