  1. "So Eddie, errr, now you've been here in Singapore for a couple of days have you had the chance to sample the world famous Singapore chow mein yet? And was it as spicy as the Singapore chow mein from the Golden Touch takeaway in Seaton Burn?"

  2. We don't have the pull of a team like Sunderland. Clearly Arsenal don't either.

  3. There's no point in comparing a regular job with that of a professional footballer making say £8m a year. What also doesn't get mentioned is that the aggressive movement of players based on having one or two good seasons in their heading into prime years is just another way that the talent pool is hogged by the mega clubs. They're the only teams who can pay those wages, so instead of a team being able to improve their position through holding onto these players and in doing so increasing their appeal, prize money and revenue which can be realised again and again resulting in real growth and progress, they get a one time reward that they then have to rinse and repeat hoping to bring on players who can develop to once again be sold. The amount of talent being wasted on the bench or not even on the bench at these massive clubs is huge.

  4. It's OK to want to leave for more money. But there are ways to go about it without being a cunt to your current club and suppporters. Trying to force your way out for more money by having hissy fits, feigning injuries, refusing to play, letting your agent leak things to the press etc, when you are already paid 100k a week, makes you a greedy cunt in my book. That is a general point by the way, not necessarily directed at Isak - hard to wade through all the shit in the media to work out exactly which of the above, if any, he is guilty of.

  5. We went to Flamingo Land the day after I had the snip. Not my idea obviously one thing I would note is that modern A-front boxer shorts-type underwater don’t provide as much support down there as I’d previously thought

  14. Great! Finally a player who really wants to play for us. Brentford were dog whistling a cartel club and it's going to blow up in their face. Simply wonderful. Hope we get Wissa and they get relegated.

  15. Just to offer a couter argument here. If the option on the table when you took your paycut had been "a massive payrise and an improvement in pretty much every single employment prospect that matters to you", that's the job you'd have taken. When you're a professional footballer, your football club is your employer. It makes no sense to think that these lads should stick around "because the fans" or "because loyalty". Wanting to leave for better opportunities doesn't make him a reflection of everything that's wrong with society, it just makes him ambitious and, quite honestly, normal.

  16. My comment wasn't specifically aimed at you, and interesting you've done the same as me Zathras. Hail fellow public servant wanker! You're point about Isak being in the same private scope of work is noted. Not going to argue about the rest, this thread and dozens or hundreds, even thousands, like it around the web will argue about player wages and player loyalty. I'm just adding to this,.people don't always need to follow the money, sometimes their are bigger things. And even if that's your path, you can and should respect the people who got you there. I'll always love the moments Isak gave me, the 50,000 in the stadium, the millions watching it on TV/video. But I loved it whoever scored. There will always be another Isak for us. If he moves to Liverpool, he'll get more money, more team success most likely, but ultimately, he'll most likely be a footnote at Anfield compared to a legend at SJP.

  28. Wissa is trying to get his final chance to play in the CL, which I sort of understand given his age - Brentford told him he could go for £26m since he has a year left, I get his annoyance. But tbf, I also understand Isak's annoyance that we promised him a new contract last year and then fucked him off for it. So I'm having a hard time chastising either player when their respective clubs have indeed fucked them around.

  32. Bit harsh. I see what you're doing comparing the sale of a boys U-13s to the sale of the women's team. Appalling comparison. I'd watch a PL side's U-13s boys team for a start.

  33. Well, on the other hand, I personally took a pay cut of at least 30% this year due to reasons of personal integrity and public service. I earn less in a year than Isak does in a week currently, shortly that will be less than he earns in a couple of days. I'm not a particular moral person or anything, but even though every pound I earn means much more to me than people like Isak, cos I need it to live, how I earn it is more important to me than him. Oh, it's a short career people say. Well okay, whatever. They're good at kicking a plastic ball around a pitch, they're good at making money, they're good at having no decent human attributes like basic loyalty. They're just a reflection of the World we live in, a world that is fucking on fire. Ultimately just fortunate idiots who are pawns like the rest of us.
