I genuinely thought my dad was mates with him. We were walking down Grey st. and saw the bow-legged bugger striding up towards us, as we passed my Dad said “ How Mac!” he replied “ Awright mate!” My dad went from “magic Dad” to “Supermac’s mate” as far as I was concerned, and told every fucker that would listen for the next week or two. I was 5-6, so this would’ve been in ‘74.7 points

Noticed how the papers went after that wrong'un ref who let his guard down when off his tits and blurted out that he loathed doing games at anfield and how Klopp was an utter cunt? The bloke's now alleged crimes are his to answer in law, but the fact that before that came out he was already crucified for letting on about the Liverpool way (and Ferguson way) of intimidating refs first live then after the event through their howling and wailing facilitated by a sycophantic sports media loving the content, the clicks and the furore always reminds me of these gangsters working out a way to spin the killing of a New York captain to their advantage through their influence in the papers..... (I'm only half kidding here...) "....Where does it say we can't ruin a non compliant referee? He was a shit ref, a junkie ref, he had the temerity to slag off Liverpool football club, our manager and got mixed up with the wrong people and had it coming... We have people on the payroll at sky and the papers.... they'd love a story like that, right?"6 points

I think it was HMHM who said when he arrived that Osula had been bought as a ‘development striker’ ie, buy cheap, improve, sell for a profit. That’s something (irrespective of this particular player) that we need to do much more of as a club. It’s a fairly ridiculous state of affairs for a club that is as well backed as we are but we all know about PSR and how it’s stacked so it is what it is.5 points

Cheers Wyki, it was emotional but in an incredibly happy way, which may sound bizarre, but Gordon’s home, the buttons did their job ❤️ BBC documentary is on iPlayer, not seen it yet, will watch when I get home tonight -5 points

I had to Google to understand who he is. For anyone else that's in my boat, he's a Sunderland player on loan to Birmingham City.4 points

Fair play, that's a nice message. And he had the gumptiom to leave any mention of the rat out of the bit about the cup final.4 points

Nice idea to do this so there's a proper sign off. I would guess that it's Hopkinson's doing which is a nice touch.3 points

I used to work at Nestle (Rowntrees back then). One of the silly jokes from the factory.. An employee tried to commit suicide by jumping into a vat of chocolate. His workmates gathered round and started singing.. 'Billy don't be an Aero'.3 points

I was staying in Yorkshire the other week and I asked the maid where I could find towels. Ended up at Yorkshire Bird of Prey Sanctuary.3 points

whatever you think of the bloke, and there are plenty who have criticised him for various reasons, he oversaw the best time most of us can remember on the pitch - two CL campaigns and a cup win. he seemed to love his time here and went beyond the call of duty staying on for a year after receiving a devastating diagnosis. good luck to him3 points

We're back baby We're creating plenty of chances, we're just not putting them away. Hopefully getting the new signings integrated will fix that. But we're not really the big story for me. That's Liverpool, Chelsea, Sunderland, Spurs and Forest. They're scoring significantly more than you'd expect from what they're creating. We're maybe over performing a bit in defence, that could be due to good performances from a good 'keeper or it could be profligacy from the opponent. But again, I don't think we're the big story here. Look again at Spurs, Sunderland, and Liverpool. Also... Brentford are perhaps paying the price for their 'keeper's shortcomings? We are safely in the good box, creating a good number of chances, and not allowing many the other way. The Top Left box is where you don't want to be.3 points

His widow would've hopefully got a good compensation payout for that as well as a decent death in service payment so at least his family can afford to pay the bills after this tragic accident.3 points

You should've put this post in the jokes thread instead of nestlé one, it's much better.3 points

It looks to me like the only use for this ID will be to prove that you have the right to work in the UK. So with one fell swoop Starmer has completely smash the tax-evading shadow economy. Absolutely masterful. It's not you already have to provide a national insurance number and passport details to work legally in the UK. And no doubt those already employing illegal immigrants with cash in hand will be absolutely shitting themselves.2 points

They've already given them the keys, now they're also giving them the alarm code.... If Labour don't sort this shit out they're absolutely doomed if they're not already but they're also dooming the rest of us.2 points

last night's match had them in fucking knots. the stupid cunts couldn't decide whether to celebrate bradford's goal against us as the onset of a possible comeback, or want the goalscorer dead because he was a spennymoor mag.2 points

I think organisations like the BBC now take the easy (and cheap) option of using social media to gauge fan opinions. Then you have the uber fans like Adam Pearson and Charlotte Robson who are there for that ‘hot take’ (actual analysis or insight not required). And I don’t know why anyone in the public eye would leave their comments turned on for their social media accounts, especially footballers.2 points
