Just finished watching on replay. Overall, I thought we played quite well, with the odd familiar moment of terrible defending. First goal, Tonali needs to be stronger and Bruno needs to face the ball. We are a bit of a shambles at set pieces recently. I think it's often a thing of nerve with this sort of thing. Concede a few, you'll concede more. Give nothing away for weeks, it feels like we'll never concede from a set piece ever again. Just need to get that confidence back. I do also think that Ramsdale doesn't command his box well and it's probably something our players have come to depend on/expect from our goalkeeper. Second goal, Hall fails to sense the danger (looked very leggy too which is to be expected) and Burn unfortunately couldn't cover for him. It was some nice play from Leverkusen with the dummy in the leadup play completely skinning Tonali (was it?). Fair play. Not necessarily the worst defending ever but could've been better handled. In attack, we looked good I thought. Unlucky not to have a third after hitting the post twice and Thiaw's header being nicely saved. Gordon has come back to life in the last two games. Maybe he's finally woken up to the fact he needs to prove he's a player and not rest on his laurels. He's had his best two games in 18 months in the past two games. Miley is a special talent. He nearly got on the end of a header right before he eventually did and scored. Big moment for us and he was the one to stand up. He'll displace Joelinton in our best starting XI before long at this rate. Overall, not our best game in the defending sense but an even game for the most part. I thought we were better than them in the second half. Probably our fitness showing through. 2-2 was a pretty fair reflection of the match, I thought. It's a good point. Pity we couldn't hold onto the lead away from home -- yet again. But, we were probably only marginally the better side, and got a good point away from home against a very good team. I'm happy with that. All to play for in the coming CL games and all in our hands. We really couldn't have asked for more than that going into the season.

These won their last 3 CL games without conceding. A 2-2 draw away is a decent result, and on another day we beat them with the chances we had. Id have snapped your hand off for a 2-2 when I thought we had conceded a penalty

Not quite, it's not the root cause but doesn't help, between that and missing files and other bits and bobs, death by a thousand cuts. for example, someone uploading a picture of their telly to show the score in the top corner, was 3mb ... yes everyones got fast connections, but the server has to dole that stuff out if it's hosted here, that's overhead, queue multiple people posting pictures of their tvs from their 4k camera smartphones, server loads that page for everyone, with all the pictures more overhead, you can shift that by those pictures not being "on here" but hosted elsewhere, as meenzer pointed out. Back in the day those services weren't readily available so it was made handy for people here by giving them space, it's been a decade or more and it's an issue now anyway i've bulk compressed every image on the thing to get around 10-25% reductions for the worst offenders (the offending tv picture was 2.5mb and is now 800kbs for example) (i did this after it was looking faster anyway) + a bunch of other tweaks, touch wood so far it's looking like it's worked, needs to be left alone for a few days to see. But as mentioned there's other issues i'll leave with the lads to discuss / implement Everyone hated change when it came the first time around, prob 15yrs ago then were all elated with it, now you're all old as fuck and due another round ya won't like initially but it is what it is (but ya can blame andrew this time round)

For all the moaning and crying, we're 1 nil down away from home to a good team that's a CL regular, and that got an incredibly lucky goal.

Think we were ok there. These are a decent team. We need to get over the fact we are playing champions league and worrying about the other teams, let them fucking worry about us. We have Thiaw basically man marking Schick who is dropping off and it’s leaving a massive hole for their midfield to run into. Trust our defenders and put them on the back foot. Be brave.
