For me it's clear that Joelinton has been playing through some sort of injury for a long time (groin/hip/thigh) and he's lost his acceleration and explosiveness on the ball as a result. To make up for this he's tried to increase his physicality in a way that is both ineffective and harder on his body. Howe probably should have showed the faith in Miley from earlier to allow Joelinton to get the treatment he needed to return to 100% fitness. That's hopefully what happens now, but boy it would have been nice to have both Miley and Joelinton fully fit as options through these busy weeks.5 points

I’d go Gordon and Murphy on the wings with Barnes as potential super sub and a view to him starting against Fulham. I do think Miley is in for this and it’ll be hard to get him out of the side from here on in. Eddie has extended too many chances to Joelinton already this season as is and he’s injured again5 points

Don’t really see the value in given a player who is carrying an injury that’s hampering his performance a cameo at the end of a game the team were cruising in. But he’s a Liverpool player who they’ve broken the British transfer record to sign so it’s important to maintain the litany of excuses.4 points

Fair. It's a confidence thing IMO but they won't want to admit that because it'll make their whole chase over the summer look even more stupid, and will also hurt Isak himself who is trying his best to pretend that everything is normal, presumably.3 points

didnt watch it. didnt listen to it. happy to categorically state though that for the quarter of an hour or so he was on he was fucking shite. and he's a cunt ole ole.3 points

they went for the new stadium bounce approach in 1997 and had to wait 11 years to beat us at that shit tip as well.3 points

Racist bastards you lot dont know the first thing about Arabs do you, they're more likely to go to a football stadium to hurl abuse at another Arab than support him because he's a muslim3 points

My mate bought a programme at RP in the late 80s and I had a glance before the game, one of their regular features must've been interviewing a fan. One of the standing questions was 'How do you celebrate a win against the Mags?"* Which I thought was odd considering games against them were pretty sporadic for about twenty years previous and we'd had the upper hand which KK, (peace be upon him), was only going to further enhance. *His answer? He said he'd go into Newcastle the following week and buy a video of it as it would be sold out in Sunderland but I don't think NUFC would be releasing a VHS of a derby defeat so I think he'd have been a bit disappointed at a waste of a journey tbh. (They didn't ever beat us that day nor ever again at RP).3 points

Heard a bit of the commentary in the car and it was interesting to hear them pointing out that the energy completely drained from the Liverpool attack when Isak came on for Ekitike. The commentators reckon that he must be carrying an injury because there’s no other excuse for being so bad.2 points

Miley has the size to cause defenders big problems and in particular with Woltemade playing more as a 10 we need the extra bodies coming into that space.2 points

Like watching a silent disco where everyone is dancing to different music. Her popularity was inexplicable. By all accounts, aside from being utterly fucking talentless, she was quite horrible in real life.2 points

If you view every decision FIFA makes through the lens of making money, everything they do makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, they’re supposed to be a sporting organisation2 points

No I get that but the cringefest ceremony with Trump and the ticket prices are a new level of ridiculous. Alongside other relatively smaller things that might not have been noticed everywhere, like the delayed suspension for Ronaldo. Is there a precedent for something like that? On the verge of making the game look like a complete joke at this point and noone seems to be able to do anything about it.2 points

Probably would’ve still been on strike. I don’t think the club realistically had that option. He burnt all his bridges2 points

I'll never forget his dying words.... (Sniff) "Elf'n'safety gorn maad, innit! When oi was a la ...arrrrrrrgggghhhhh!" [Splat]2 points

We were talking in the office the other day about it - 30 years ago when they had the world cup it was a sporting event and I cannot recall Clinton anywhere near it. It's polticised to fuck these days - it always was, but this is insane!2 points

Sartorial elegance or.....what ? Was at medical centre this a.m. (nowt serious, sorry) and this lad (mid/late 20's I would say) comes in attired as follows: Black blazer (with gold buttons) sleeves scrunched up to above the elbows, with black T shirt underneath. Dark blue jeans with black calf length socks and black trainers, I noticed the socks because his jeans were tucked into them. To top off this ensemble he was wearing, over the jeans, a pair of faded denim baggy shorts. Just a bit different.2 points

We've (Europe) been at war with Russia (Putin's lot anyway) for years but the russkies have so far been the only ones fighting it. He's been pushing the envelope for years, MH17, nerve agent deployed on a british street etc. etc. etc. Now his placeman is in power in the US and his man here is rising in the polls, he's also got Orban in the EU. We're losing.2 points

My eldest is 14, loves football and even he thinks the World Cup is a joke with no prompting needed from me. It was a magical event when I was a kid. As Trump would say: sad2 points

I wouldn't get your hopes up. 'Preparation' probably means figuring out a plan to get the royal family to a bunker in New Zealand and identifying sites for mass graves.2 points

I don't even think it has to be superstition. Isak fucked his own head by being a prize bellend, Liverpool fucked themselves by being opportunistic instead of strategic - they did not need Isak and Ekitike, and they never will. They needed one of them plus another striker who offers something a bit different (no clue why that can't be Chiesa). They are now paying for the opportunity cost of their self indulgence (Guehi missed as attention was drained into Isak). All parties concerned got what they deserved, including us to an extent - we never should have let the whole thing happen at an executive level and we're paying the price for it too.1 point

We need to stop reacting to these 'news' items. FFS move on, he's gone. Revel in when it's going badly and be grateful for the £62m of pure profit at other times.1 point

The same ego at work that made him think he was entitled to go on strike at his old club. Fuck the bloke.1 point
