  1. Crikey. If every Scouser who told that story had been there the attendance would've been about 750k. so true, funny not many seem to recall the pre match scenes in Athens. Actually an even bigger satisfaction from Saturday's result is we eclipsed what those pathetic fuckers did in Istanbul. Don't they claim that to be the greatest comeback of all time? Unlucky fuckwits!
  2. Newcastle United. WE DEFINITELY forced McKeag's hand. A bit naive in my opinion - Hall forced their hand by offering money that was beyond their level of wealth. I suppose it's the same now then really, thinking about it like that, i.e. it's all about a buyer coming in. And there's far less of a dependence on gate receipts too than there was then. I honestly don't blame people for staying away though, I totally understand why they might think 'fuck off if you think you're getting any more of my cash'. Nail on the head. McKeag relinquished control fundamentally because of SJH - not because the fans didn't turn up. If Hall hadn't been there on the periphery, McKeag (or one of his cronies) would have been in charge into the 90s. McKeag was doomed from the moment he accepted Hall onto the board first time around. He might have resigned after the failed share issue but everyone knew it was only a matter of time before he came back and in charge. He should have resigned after the failed share issue, but when did George Forbes take over as chairman, he was chairman when they appointed Ardiles ? Share issue failed in December 1990. McKeag resigned as chairman, Hall resigned from the board and Forbes took over as chairman. Lasted exactly one year. They fucked Ardiles over good and proper tbh.

  4. Newcastle United. WE DEFINITELY forced McKeag's hand. Would never have happened without SJH onside though. Looking back at it now, the support he had seemed a bit of a clique rather than the majority. Remember most of them who used to stand around where I was thinking he'd be nowt but trouble....
  5. A new Sports-Direct shop. Don't joke about that. It may have been my hangover but for the first time on Saturday I realised how much that brand is pushed at us on a match day. Two signs on the Gallowgate, a banner lying in the middle of the pitch and the fucking electronic advertising boards all advertising that bloody brand. Surely they can't stop fans who want to sing congregating there? Unless they move the away fans back to the corner or just leave it empty? The singing section has been such a successful idea that I can't see fans just finding another area to take over and use. Don't forget the backs of the seats on the team benches. I noticed the club crest has been sacrificed for the Sports Direct logo
  6. Have you got a link to the thread where you and him had that barney? I can't find it
  7. Nowt wrong with a Farley's rusk like... staple diet when I was a student Always used to be the away end pre-bastardisation of the Leazes End.
  8. Sagna now accusing Dowd of swearing at him.. Also TalkShite are running a poll this morning asking whether Barton's challenge was fair of foul. 59% reckon it was a foul proving beyond all doubt that the majority of the audience there are fucking clueless. And it's really beginning to get on my tits where it's being reported time and time again that Nolan 'escaped punishment' for his push on Szczesny. He got booked you fucking morons!
  9. The club's official twitter confirmed it wasn't him and the went and #FF the list of players who are on there.
  10. He needed his head kicked in for that 4th goal like. Schoolboy stuff. I didn't notice it on the stream when it looked particularly bad, but the little deflection off Enrique really made it a perfect cross. Decent cross or not, Van Persie had got miles away from him. Awful, awful defending.
  11. Because they're simply not gelling. England team is proof enough that you need more than just decent players - they need to be able to play as a team. One of Anelka or Drogba is on their way in the summer. Anelka may be worth a punt you know... unlikely we'd match his wage demands though
  12. When you consider wages, he's costing them about £1m a minute at the moment Carragher's had him in his back pocket all game - looks no different to how he's been all season IMO, only the shirt is a different colour. Wouldn't it be hilarious if he flopped at Chelsea and Carroll's injury WAS as bad as feared? £85m of business for nowt.
  13. Given all the "I've joined a much bigger club" comments from him in the week, I'd piss myself if Chelsea lost
  14. From the ridiculous to the sublime...

  16. You missed being called a tit for a few days or something?
  17. Aye on the contrary to COB's comment, I think Winter is one of the best there is and often says it from the fans perspective. Barclay is most definitely NOT pro-Newcastle. Just ask Peasepud
  18. The Leicester game (Aitken's debut) we came back from 4-2 down, not 4-1. We were winning that one 2-1 at one point. Others that stick in my mind were a couple of away games during SBR's reign where we ended up winning 4-3. Leeds and Derby were the opposition I think. Am sure Lua Lua got a last minute winner at Derby.
  19. I was listening to Five Live and at about 3.40, they were on about how how Arsenal were two points behind Man Utd for a few hours..... Jumping to conclusions or what?
  20. Aye I agree with that. Reminds me of a young Gascoigne actually - around about the time he played for us.
  21. FWIW the second penalty should never have been given. Not that I'm fucking complaining like...
