So a player who cost us next to nothing and who left for a respectable fee after we let JFK piss him off one time too many could well come back no doubt for a fucking fortune? Icing on the cake that one - well done Mike

Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll
shackbleep replied to DesperateDannyB's topic in Newcastle Forum
To be honest Bawan I believed all this shite about how ''it's a dream'' every time he pulls on the famous number 9 and how he wants to spend his career here. Making me one naive moron. Aye but he's a professional footballer driven by success and money in a short career span. Lets be brutally honest I don't think we're likely to be challenging for the league during Carroll's playing career and here's an opportunity for him to move, what he believes, is upwards and likely tripling his salary. Economically it's a no-brainer for him - the kid will never have to worry about cash again and that will always win the day over sentiment in a footballer's eye. Will Carroll have absolutely no regrets about moving away from his home town club? I very much doubt it. -

Put it this way - I've never seen a smile as bright on his face as the one he was wearing on the way to Liverpool. He's over the moon. With all due respect he's hardly going to turn up on Merseyside with a face on him like he'd just lost twenty quid and found a penny, is he? His time as a Newcastle player is gone man - i'd be gobsmacked if he didn't have a grin from ear to ear in front of his new fans and employers. -

And he's fucking right. Worst part of all of this is that the club persuaded him to submit the transfer request so they could waive the termination / signing on fee. Trying to make him look like the cunt when in reality its all them and nothing will disaude me on that. Wouldn't be surprised if they told him "look we're selling you anyway, might as well go with a bit of dignity and let it look like you were ambitious". These cunts would sell their grannys man. Worse still, they have us all dangling by puppet strings making approaches for players on loan they know damned well are not going to accept their paltry wages offer. Sooner these cunts go the better. I'd happily see them pocket the £35m if it meant them fucking off in the summer. I don't see how him putting a request in makes him look like a man with dignity tbh. I think it was a much more friendly request than that. They needed Carroll to put the request in. Well its not like Carrol sat down at his bureau- got out his best basildon bond and his favourite parker, and starting pouring his heart out in letter form. His agent will have told him its a done deal, you just get more money if you sign this bit of paper - Ill type it out for you son You're agreeing with me, right? I'm not disagreeing I think Ashley his agent and Liverpool will have got everything in place, his agent will then have convinced him it was a done deal, he would earn loads more money big signing on fee and turned his head and then told him to sign the transfer request as the deal was happening anyway. Carrol's not going to be winning Mastermind anytime soon, he's only a young daft kid -wouldn't be hard to get him talked into this. I imagine he's had a fair amount of pressure over this. Still think he is a cunt for going, but it's Ashleys fault Aye I think this is exactly what's happened. I said similar earlier about how easy it would be to talk him into signing the transfer request. His head would be spinning at the thought of his new wages, what's a transfer request between friends, etc. It is what you're saying. What did Saggy face say exactly on SSN? He said: "I've had a good laugh this afternoon watching stuff coming out of Newcastle about how they didn't want to sell him, how hard they've fought to keep him, they've pulled out all the stops, and he's handed in a transfer request but they've battled it all the way. My god. Every time they sell a player, one of these clubs, they make the player put in a transfer request to make it look like they didn't want to sell him." Again I say Harry is spot on. The bit in bold is particularly worth of pointing out. If they were that keen to keep him they'd have told Liverpool to simply fuck off and tell Carroll he's under contract. They've played the game along these lines one time too many but still people get reeled in by it. Would love to hear Keegan's take on it as a follow up to what he had to say following Hughton's sacking. -
PM for me Mr W please? BTW - who was it who said Carroll had submitted the transfer request?? NUFC?? I don't believe a word that comes out of SJP whilst those two idiots are running the show.

Yep. Fat Mike counts every last penny... -
Probably because it's screwed the headline writers over. They all expected Liverpool to end up with egg on their faces as a result of Torres handing in a transfer and them effectively being in the same state only with Suarez instead of Torres. Instead it's us looking fucking amateur.
-
I very much doubt the latter. Particularly with regards the re-occurance which kept him out of the Spurs game. Same 'injury' Given had IMO.

I hoped to god I was being cynical when I wrote this lot. As perverse as it sounds, that's probably how he thinks. My point exactly. Fucking worrying, isn't it? No bid then. Now's the time to find out if Pardew really is 'another mate of Ashley/Llambias' just like JFK. Aye and Kinnear told us Ashley would sell the club within a matter of weeks. -
I heard Andy Gray's looking for work.
-
He's only stating the obvious. I expect the plan was to repay Ashley's loan as soon as it looked like we might be doing enough to stay in the prem. He said: "I've had a good laugh this afternoon watching stuff coming out of Newcastle about how they didn't want to sell him, how hard they've fought to keep him, they've pulled out all the stops, and he's handed in a transfer request but they've battled it all the way. He added "One of the fanniest fings I've ever seen". Fucking HATE that cunt Likewise but he's outing Ashley and Llambias for the double-crossing cunts they are. I'll give him credit for that - they'll be seething at what he's said.

This little ditty stolen shamelessly from NUFC.com sums it up to me.

Amazing really that you consider Liverpool deliberately stalled the Torres sale until they knew they had Carroll in the bag. We just look like fucking amateurs. And we are! -

I'm with you on this one - Carroll gets told to put in a transfer request so that the deal moves on quickly. At the end of the day it's a job and Liverpool are offering him double, perhaps triple the wages. We can't truly hope to hang on to any player who is wanted by another club so long as we employ a breadline salary structure. The club will no doubt play the card that they reluctantly accepted his request and are bitterly disappointed to see him go. Truth is, if they had any intention on keeping him they'd have matched the wages Liverpool are offering. But they didn't. -
Only a couple of weeks ago we were pontificating about how the Mackems had absolutely mugged Villa over Darren Bent. By all accounts Liverpool are paying us twice as much for Andy Carroll!!
-
Says the kid from Derry who readily admits he's never been to Newcastle
-
Almost 200 of them Mackems. Deluded fuckwits!
-
If the rumours of the bust up are true, the bridges between AC and NUFC are well and truly burned. He'll want away IMO even if the LFC move breaks down.
-
Rumour I'm now hearing is that the press conference was cancelled because of the failed medical NOT to do with the bid for AC.
-
The sad factor will be the lack of re-investment (if that does turn out to be the case). I think we'd have been crazy not to accept the offer. Presume AC is off to talk to them out of spite. Given the current respective positions of each club it's hardly a step upwards - only thing they can offer him is European football and there's no guarantee of that next season. Definitely puzzling if he's keen for any other reason than his rant at the club.
