I'm with you on this one - Carroll gets told to put in a transfer request so that the deal moves on quickly. At the end of the day it's a job and Liverpool are offering him double, perhaps triple the wages. We can't truly hope to hang on to any player who is wanted by another club so long as we employ a breadline salary structure. The club will no doubt play the card that they reluctantly accepted his request and are bitterly disappointed to see him go. Truth is, if they had any intention on keeping him they'd have matched the wages Liverpool are offering. But they didn't.
