  1. yeah thats a good point tbh. Would like to use the plumber who quoted me £1,600 (not £1,800 as I originally put as mis typed), as I know he's honest as the day is long, and a damn good plumber as have used him a few times before. Its just that I dont have the cash to pay him that much. Although my ingenious plan now is to re-mortgage the house, pay off the loan we got to build an extension, and borrow enough to get the boiler replaced. Hopefully that'll be possible as it'll make life a lot easier, and kills 2 birds with one stone.
  2. Got ours done last year and I think it was either £1500 or £1700 so the price you have isnt bad. However I do recall last week that there was either an advert on the radio or on a van, newcastle based, offering boilers fitted for £995. I'll see if I can find it for you, however there may have been small print etc. http://www.eco-energy-northeast.co.uk/inde...ntact%20us.html This one says 995 but not sure if its the on i saw / heard... Nice one, thanks for that!
  3. Anyone know somewhere that does new boilers for cheap? ours looks like its finally died and the plumber is quoting us £1,800. That doesn't seem to unreasonable tbh, but as I dont have even close to that amount I was wondering if anyone had used anyone who is cheaper?
  4. Haha yeah actually does look a bit like that now you mention it Yeah thats the problem as everyone looks at things differently, and something one person likes, may not be appreciated by another person and vice versa. Always hard to judge who's right, and if there even is a right! At the end of the day the best judge is the person who the photo is for... if they like it then its a good shot Do you ever go on http://www.digital-photography-school.com/? If you post images in the forums there then you usually get some good feedback and sometimes its from professional photographers, or people with a good amount of experience in a certain type of photography. I find for photos that are maybe a little different that you can get better feedback on there than from noobs like me
  5. I really like the bottom one mate, really good pic! Not so keen on the top one, I think the whites are a little too bright, especially around the hands, and this makes the kid look like they have some sort of mutant 10 fingered hand, as there's not real outline of where one hand ends and the other starts.
  6. Did you have it on autofocus? I hate autofocus, have had to use it a fair bit recently due to shooting things that dont stay still, or situations where I dont have time to manually focus. Half the time it gets it right, and half the time wrong... really frustrating!
  7. haha love the last one, looks like he's being cheeky and sticking his tongue out for you All really good pics as per usual. Canny hard to critique them as they are all spot on
  8. Haha oh yeah so I did lol! Still thinking I was in the debate about Ben Arfa being better than "x player"
  9. Steven Gerrard also an Evertonian as a kid. Make me sick just thinking of the team we could of had, whilst instead I had to watch the likes of Mitch Ward, Barry Horne and Earl Barrett strutting their stuff for us lol! Even when we finally did have a decent player like Nick Barmby he then just fucked off to them twats Although they did end up with Abel Xavier and haven't bought from us since so all's well that ends well
  10. Fuck off man. Eloquent. What exactly do you disagree with? The latter about Ben Arfa. As eith Tom or Craig posted....the boy has a pretty glittered career so far. Medals and alot of CL experience. Of course he is worth 5 mil. Easy. And just some players you can see and immediatley know they are a bit special. Maybe, maybe not. Mutu for example lit up the premier league when he first signed, obviously he had demons off the field but at first he looked amazing. Similarly with Ben Arfa he's had a bad injury (ok maybe not that similar but you see what I mean) and who knows how well he'll come back from it. Saying that at £5m its certainly worth the risk anyway as thats peanuts in todays market! Again though a glittering career in France doesn't necessarly translate to the same in England, and a good start (especially judging this on 3 games) doesn't mean that on a cold wet day at Stoke (as someone else pointed out) that he'll be up for it, especially as attitude problems have dogged his career so far. Too early to judge either way, so Sniffer has made a very valid point... give the lad a chance to prove his worth rather then touting him as this and that before he's done anything (in this league) to justify it. Still like I said even if he doesn't quite meet your expectations at £5m he'll certainly be a useful and good value for money player anyway.
  11. I would be surprised what with him being an Evertonian, but stranger things have happened I guess.
  12. I dont think the success of a team has any bearing on a players performances, certainly not in a successful team. Parker is playing for a dreadful team and it was him who apparently went in the dressing room at half time (I forget who they were playing) and gave an inspiring and passionate team talk that got the team all fired up to go out and win the match. I honestly can't list West Ham games off the top of my head that he's single handidly won them the matches, but he has and there's no doubt about it. his leadership qualities and his drive and energy on the pitch have been second to none. I'll happily speak to someone I know who supports West Ham and provide you with a list if you really need one? Ok he might have had a bad game up against Tiote... no player is going to be great in every single game, but Parker has been incredibly consistent this season. Can you explain how the players player of the season award is a "playground popularity contest"? Surely fellow professionals are the best people to judge how an individual has performed?
  13. Really? Why should a whole teams effort over the course of a season have any impact on a single players consistent performance? It doesn't matter one bit who you play for, its how you've played and the impact you've had on that team that matters. Its a sad day when even fans outside of the "big 4/5" now can't see past the glitz and glamour that sky constantly throw at us regarding those top teams.
  14. Surely the amount of positive results Parker has generated for his club almost single handidly is far greater than Tiote or Barton? I would argue that the Premierships player of the season shouldn't just be based on skill, finesse etc, but what that player brings to his team. I dont think a single player has faught for and driven his club on more than Scotty Parker this season. The fact that he won "players player" of the season also shows that his fellow professionals recognise the impact he's had on his club this season. Like I said without Parker West Ham would have already been relegated and a long time ago, you can't say the same about Barton or Tiote, or that they has consistently and single handidly been the driving force in their team. Now he may not have played great against you's, and Liverpool may have been crap on that day you mentioned, but over the whole season he's been excellent... not sure how anyone can argue otherwise?
  15. Fuck off man. Scott Parker has been absolute class this season, and it weren't for him West Ham would have been relegated very early in the season. It's a disgrace that Bale won player of the year over him (or Nani). I've never seen a better example of a "one man team" than West Ham this season, and his leadership qaulities on the pitch (and off it apparently) have been a great example to young players out there.
  16. Haha I was wondering why no one had brought that up Yeah he played well in that match and it was a class strike!
  17. True in part, but the likes of Alfonso Alves certainly didn't go to a big club. Am sure there are plenty of other examples too. So yes the right club matters beyond doubt, but can't be blamed for all the players with good reputations that come here an fail. Am not saying he'll be a failure either, but that no-one can porclaim him to be anything yet (in this league) as he needs to prove it on the pitch first. Thierry Henry was a failure in Italy, so was Dennis Bergkamp, so was Kanu. Does that make the Premiership worse than Serie A then? Tough question to answer tbh, around that time i'd probably say yes it was, however during their time here the premier league became the better league... but I honestly couldn't say one way or another on this point as its so hard to judge. For instance Henry was played in a different role at Arsenal, one that suited him more, he also was younger in Italy, so was less in his prime then at Arsenal, Seria A is also a very defensive league and so goals are harder to come by for an attacking player. Same with Bergkamp, he became a great player during his time at Arsenal, in fact i'd go as far as to say one of the best to ever play in this country and my personal favourite, but again different mentality coupled with his own growth as a player meant he was more successful here. Not sure i'd ever class Kanu in the same bracket, did ok for Arsenal but was never a world beater IMO, but others may disagree.
  18. True in part, but the likes of Alfonso Alves certainly didn't go to a big club. Am sure there are plenty of other examples too. 19. Schevchenko: 1994–1999 Dynamo Kyiv 117 (60 goals) 1999–2006 Milan 208 (127 goals) 1995– Ukraine 100 (45 goals) 2006–2009 Chelsea 47 (9 goals) Do you see the point i'm making. He didn't even come from an inferior league, but would Chelsea fans rather have him or Drogba up front?
  20. Its not a theory that a player can't be good unless he's played in the premier league. The point i'm making is that just because a player has been as sucess in a lesser league, doesn't automatically mean he'll be sucess in England. As such you can't say hes better than "x player" until they have both been compared playing on a level playing field so to speak. And the examples I posted of Kezman & Alves prove this, you could add others in to that pot as well, Bilyaletdinov for us would be another, Mutu when he went to Chelsea (although coke may have played its part there), Shevchenko would be a another huge example...and many others. So no i'm not saying players can't be good unless they play in England, or that all foreign players are useless when they come here, that's you taking my point and twisting to suit your own argument/logic. I'd rather have Ben Arfa in my team than "x player" is what someone argued (I forget who). How can you argue that based on 3 games in the premier league? When in all fairness he could turn out to be shit (or amazing, but no-one knows at this point). I'm sure many Chelsea fans would have said "I'd rather have Shevchenko than x player" and look how that one turned out. Does that not make sense? I'm struggling to think of how much more simple I can make it?
  21. You could compare them but it wouldn't be a very good comparison Haha you never know Harper might be mint up front Or berbatov could be a decent keeper Haha judging by Berbatovs lack of mobility I think even I could stick a few past him (providing I hit the target which is pretty rare lol)
  22. You could compare them but it wouldn't be a very good comparison Haha you never know Harper might be mint up front
  23. I dont have a problem with that opinion, and if you re-read what I wrote it'll show that I actually said that the stats prove nothing, only allow both sides to argue depending on which statistics they pick to use. Arteta has played a Carrick role for us this season, he sits deep, but he'll never be the type of player that throws himself in to tackles. He's played as a defensive midfielder, but there are different types of defensive midfielder, and not all of them are the Makelele type. Now you say both in the team, with Tiote sitting behind Arteta? I like the sound of that... providing its for Everton and not Newcastle of course
  24. That makes no sense at all?! He plays defensive midfield, so its entirely possible to compare his stats to a fellow defensive midfield player. Thats like saying if Newcastle play Harper up front for a season, you can't compare the number of goals he scores to Berbatov because he's a goal keeper?!! LOL! Arteta this season has played defensive midfield in all but one game, ergo his stats are that of a defensive midfielder (barre one game) and can be compared to the stats of any other player playing in that position this season.
  25. -------------Howard Neville---Jags---Distin----Baines -------------Arteta------- Coleman------Fellaini-----Osman -------------Cahill ----------------Saha That's how we've lined up this season (swap Osman for Piennar pre Jan window), with Osman/Piennar tucking in to allow baines the chance to overlap. That's for thsoe who think Arteta plays as a winger or attacking midfielder for us. He doesn't much to the annoyance of a lot of our fans.
