  1. It was also another mistake from Forster. I take back all the good things I said about him. He's going backwards again.
  2. Convinced the girlfriend that we should spend a few days in Newcastle, and take in the Benfica game and the derby. Can't fucking wait.
  3. In Scotland I don't think it works, because 2 clubs are already so much wealthier than everyone else, and every season they're rewarded for being rich, while small clubs are punished for being poor. And if you want an idea of just what a corrupt farce Scottish football is, this is how the prize money from TV and sponsorship this season is divvied up: 1. 17.0% 2. 10.5% 3. 9.5% 4. 9.0% 5. 8.5% 6. 8.0% 7. 7.5% 8. 7.0% 9. 6.5% 10. 6.0% 11. 5.5% 12. 5.0% Now, the prize money for winning the league makes virtually no difference to Celtic. But an extra few £100k either way makes a huge difference to clubs like St Johnstone or Inverness who only have 3,000 home fans on a normal day.
  4. As much as losing to Ross County is funny, Rangers result this weekend was utterly hilarious.
  5. I've been reasonably impressed with Elliot when I've seen him.
  6. Didn't Kate Hooey try to do this when she was Sport Secreteary, only to be shouted down by the Hillsborough fans?
  7. That's the same Kris Commons who has been dropped quite a few times by Lennon for being either unprofessional on the pitch, too fat, or both.
  8. I agree with that, but they send their players all over the place. Just this season they've had reserve players out getting experience at Colchester, Oxford, Crewe, Barnet, Inverness and Coventry., as well as Championship clubs. Playing proper competitive football is the only way youngsters are going to learn.
  9. This is something that clubs like Arsenal do really well that we need to start doing. They always seem to have loads of players on lloan all over the place. We just seem to generate and endless stream of players who play for the reserves for a few years then disappear.
  10. To be fair, it actually said "No bloostained (sic) poppy on our hoops" The idiots. Right, as you were.
  11. Hasn't really done that much on the ball tbh, but he's been tidy enough. Likes to get stuck in though.
  12. Conor Newton's St Mirren are 3-1 up against Celtic in the League Cup semi-final.
  13. He's not bad like: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/21114412
  14. Free-kick for the goal was fair, but he's given us a couple of ridiculous ones for non-fouls on Shola.
  15. And strippers, don't forget the strippers. Lovely place to be in the one week of sunshine a year we tend to get in May, grim as fuck in the winter.
  16. From what I saw in the Euros we've done brilliantly to get Debuchy, a tremendous player. Mulgrew looks really good for Celtic, because they always have possession and he can stride forward like he's Beckenbauer or something. I'd need to see more of him in the CL or for Scotland to see if he can do it when the roles are reversed. He was at Aberdeen for a couple of seasons, but was a full-back with us (and a mediocre one). Hooper I really do think is the real deal though, and I think you'd get more out of him playing against better opposition every week. Even taking into account the league he's in, he's a brilliant finisher.
  17. I was counting him as a winger, but I get your point. Hooper is certainly better than anyone else we have though, not that that would be difficult.
  18. Hooper is a Premier League player imo, although he'd be our 2nd choice striker and we wouldn't spend the money it would take to get him for a back-up. Not convinced by Mulgrew though, I'm not sure how well he'd do in a team that didn't regularly dominate possession. At other clubs, Griffiths at Hibs, MacKay-Steven at Dundee United and Fraser at Aberdeen all have the potential to play at the highest level I think. I'd be all for taking a chance on Griffiths if he wasn't the Scottish Nile Ranger.
  19. I think the backdrop to the game does make a difference. A shit game between Stoke and say Spurs is still shit, but there's a packed ground and atmosphere to negate that slightly. A game of equivalent quality between Kilmarnock and Dundee makes you want to tear your eyes out. And I think I try not to be too myopic. I've seen games at Pittodrie that have made me consider suicide, especially midweek ones in January, but there is quality as well.
  20. I won't deny there is a lot of absolute shite as well, but I think it's worth digging up a post a put on another thread from a while back as well:
