  1. I'm sure I remember Smith hitting the bar with an absolute screamer in one game. Apart form that yeah, he contributed virtually nothing, other than 3 months kicking everything that moved alongside but in the Championship.
  2. It's also worth noting the Celtic, particularly under Mowbray, have been quite clearly guilty of making up some of their attendance figures. Go back 2 seasons, and a lot of their crowds are suspiciously round numbers (eg 48,000 and the like).
  3. He's an EPL player that happens to be playing in the SPL. If people are going to mention Grant Holt, Hooper should definitely be considered.
  4. I don't think I can cope with the tension.
  5. Can we tape Williamson's arms to his sides before we kick off?
  6. I'm planning to come down for the Liverpool home game, and generally I like to be up in level 7 when I go to SJP. I know Ashley turfed everyone out of there at the end of last season, and when games go on sale there aren't any tickets available up there. But I've noticed a few times that tickets have gone on sale for the corner bit/Leazes end later on. Does this happen every game, or does it just depend on how big an away support is coming? And is the atmosphere there as good as it used to be? Basically, am I better waiting or should I just buy seats where I can?
  7. They're both as bad eas each other tbh. Celtic just have a bit of a cuddlier reputation.
  8. Ahh fair enough, if that's the case that does change it. Although if Rangers are disputing the figure and manage to get it down to less than 25% of the total debt, then that could all still happen could it not? Either way, Whyte is a crook.
  9. How can you not find £24m! It's not like it could just fall down the settee. I don't know the full details from the time Craig Whyte bought the club, but surely his due dligence should've shown him that administration was an inevitability. I think he planned for all of this to be honest. My understanding of it is he bought the club for £1, paid of it's original debts with other loans mortgaged against future season ticket sales, and if the administrators can sort out a CVA before the tax case comes to fruition, he'll be the main secured creditor of the club. He'll probably walk away with Ibrox and the training ground in exchange for the money he's owed, leaving him free to lease/sell them back to whatever form of Rangers FC exists in the future. A bit like the Glazers at Man Utd, he's essentially purchased the club with its own money. Of course, if this isn't some grand master plan, then the worst case scenario is he's lost a single pound.
  10. I'm not part of the 'everything Ashley does it shit' brigade, but Given and Bassong left because of the direction we were heading under his leadership (although for Given it was an accumilation of things over a number of years). Ashley has made some good decisions, some bad decisions and some monumentally catastrophic decisions. I'm yet to be convinced that the last two seasons haven't been a case of a blind squirrel occasionally finding a nut, but the last two seasons have been successful. Especially if we qualify for Europe, which LeazesMag repeatedly said would never happen under his reign.
  11. I think it's fair to say the Old Firm have a huge following in terms of people who buy the shirts and watch them in the pub, but who would never dream of actually bothering to go and see them. Celtic's crowds under Mowbray two years ago were pathetic, the only thing more ridiculous than their fans still claiming how amazing they were was the blatantly fictional attendance figures they were publishing. They can both get fucked. Can you tell I'm an Aberdeen season ticket holder?
  12. He was vaguely useful for the first couple of months in the Championship, when him and Nicky Butt went round kicking the shite out of anything that moved to show we wouldn't be a soft touch. Apart from that, Christ what a waste of money.
  13. Be funny if this happened only for the FA to tell them to fuck off. If they bought an existing "member" and then relocated that member, doubt the FA could do owt about it, MK Dons precedent is set, as is the non-English one. European law being what it is, in terms of restraint of trade etc etc it could be a runner. I can't see it myself but it's an interesting supposition. I think the FA changed the rules after the Wimbledon/MK Dons thing to make sure it didn't happen again. Could be wrong though. They should be relegated to the 3rd division at the very least tbh. Then they get to play in England, well, Berwick anyway.
  14. I'm pretty sure he once said he wouldn't celebrate a goal until he scored the winner in a World Cup Final.
  15. . David Sexcase-Pleat's normally ya man for ridiculous versions of foreign players. One game I watched last season he was on about Jonas and why he had 'Jonas' on his shirt. Ever the comedian he said "you know why that is though don't you. It's because Geordies can't spell Gutiérrez" . He's always been one of football's less than endearing arseholes . Of the greasiest variety too . I remember that. The other commentator just went "woah steady on David" Although he always looks like he's about to fall over when he runs, I think Best has had a really good game today.
  16. Blackpool? They weren't very good but they certainly went for it in every game.
  17. That was 2002/2003. In fact he scored at Old Trafford the season before as well. Sky speaking crap shocker.
  18. The picture from the BBC shows what a tremendous idea his vendetta against the Level 7 folk was:
  19. Growing up: 3.65 miles Dagenham & Redbridge 9.09 miles West Ham United Football Club 10.31 miles Charlton Athletic Football Club 248.31 miles Newcastle United Football Club Currently: 0.45 miles Aberdeen Football Club 151.99 miles Newcastle United Football Club Ah well I've made it slightly closer. At least it's unlikely anyone will ever accuse me of being a glory hunter.
  20. There's an amazing thread on there where a few of them are trying to claim that knocking the ball of the line with your arm is not in fact a a penalty. I think we should have Shola and Williamson doing star jumps on the posts at corners from now on in that case
  21. Apart from just been a totally opportunistic money-making scheme, the whole thing completely devalues the point of a membership. I'm not from Newcastle (being from daan saaf and living in Aberdeen), I've never lived there and I can't see me being ever being in a position to buy a season ticket. I normally go to more away than home games, and I've got a membership because it gives me a chance of actually getting a ticket at places like White Hart Lane where they're like f*cking gold-dust because of the demand. If everyone has to get a membership to go to these games then the advantage is taken away. I have to hand over £20 for the priviledge of just being able to apply for away tickets at all, and there's not even the opportunity for members to get seats in the singing section any more at SJP. It's a disgrace
