  1. ManU have snookered themselves. You can't publicly label someone the "best" and "only" person for a role, publicly insult the holder of his contract, then expect to come to the negotiating table and make demands. To acquire "the best" requires a uniquely large price tag to match. They've told all their friends in the media that they had to have him. That guarantees that they can't walk away from the deal! What did they expect we would do?! This is a masterclass in incompetence. And their supporters have this insane notion that these new co-owners were going to change everything for them. Although, I will grant that overpaying for a useless suit is certainly a change from overpaying for useless players.
  2. Best first half performance for some time. That looked more like the team of last season. Hopefully we can keep it up. A nice win by a few goals and a clean sheet will do wonders for the confidence.
  3. There's also a point to be made that if you never shoot from range then defenders don't need to close you down as aggressively. If you do shoot from range occasionally then defenders are drawn out to shut you down and you can play the pass instead. Nothing exists in a vacuum.
  4. Having Willock back is making a big difference. He's all energy. Taking up really dangerous positions and he's contributed to the press very well too. He's been a big miss.
  5. There we go. Brilliant. Playing some brilliant direct stuff here.
  6. Nice work Murphy. Like it in the wet. Just get the shots in and see what happens. Looks really heavy rain.
  7. Great goal. Made by Bruno. That's a hell of a run to get there. Brilliant stuff.
  8. Longstaff never gets those free kicks. He's one of the worst divers in the PL in terms of selling it.
  9. What in the world was Botman doing there? He was 5-yards deeper than the rest of them playing them all onside. He's shitting himself about Neto's pace already.
  10. All in good fun, mate. Promise. 😊
  11. Testosterone is my favourite PED. It's the desperate man's final gambit. See Floyd Landis. In yellow in TdF, dropped on stage 16, loses 10 minutes. Next day, stage 17, queen stage. He straps seventeen testosterone patches to himself like ASM applying bandages, and rides away from the entire field. He gains back the 10 minutes and an extra 3-4 minutes for good measure. He was glowing like Hale Bob. Promptly caught. Denies everything. Said his T-levels were elevated because he had a beer the night before. A single beer. His A-sample would've burnt a hole in the test tube.
  12. The best info from the above is that if Wilson stayed he'd have to accept being 3rd choice. That's great news. Overall, if we're looking to sell to buy then Wilson needs to be at the top of the list. Old, injury prone, probably on a good wedge compared to other squad members. And there'd be someone willing to pay for him and take a punt that he'll stay fit. An injury prone striker is like a crazy woman. There's always some idiot who thinks they'll be the one to fix her. Like sammy with LTA, for instance. She'll come good, mate, keep at it. In any case, wasn't the Atletico deal a loan offer? Let's not pretend that any obligation to buy would have been fulfilled. He would've gone there, got injured, and been back at the club in June. In the meantime, we would've had to act in the January market to replace him and pay over the odds to do so only then to be lumped with him again next season.
  13. Most of what I know about the Giro comes from Liggett's annual ritual of crapping on about whichever Italian star fresh off a great Giro result was going to challenge Armstrong only for them to get immediately dropped at the start of week 2 when the road went upwards for the first time during the Tour. That Ferrari gear was on another level to lil' Italy's Giro di Italia.
  14. Agreed. I imagine it's similar to cyclists preparing for the TdF in the sense that training loads need to be managed very carefully throughout the year in order to manage fitness levels. And playing two games a week for months with the same eleven means our players are the equivalent of turning up for the TdF with two Giros in their legs. If this is the case, then they would need an off-season and a chance to reset properly to then restart the elevation of fitness levels. Maybe that's bullshit but it makes sense to me.
  15. Just need a touch of luck here. We have the quality upfront to take the opportunity if it comes.
