  1. Yep. There was a time when such a suggestion would've sounded mad because Debruv is a perfectly capable shot-stopper. Not now. He is simply incapable of sweeping up throughballs and it is a major factor in making us the worst defence in the league since Pope went down.
  2. That is a completely unforgiveable goal to give away. I don't give a shit if the players have swapped positions or whatever. It's a straight fucking throughball, you morons!
  3. Yet another freak injury no doubt. Cool. Hopefully six weeks doesn't turn into 4 months or whatever it was for Anderson.
  4. Hard to imagine that someone will not just loan her the money. This is peanuts to these people. If PIF want her in her role then she'll stay in the role.
  5. Can you please stop freaking me out with the level of detail and precision with which you're prophesizing doom? Thanks. I'd prefer to get an idiot's opinion on this one. And for anyone else in the same boat as me, let me say, I'm sure he'll be fine.
  6. Don't think loans would be an FFP concern as they're balance sheet/owner's equity items and not P&L. Isn't modern football fun? In any case, it makes zero sense that Chelsea is not already in massive trouble with FFP given their ridiculous transfer spend.
  7. This is outrageous. I'd better go to Melbourne to tell them.
  8. Howe mentioned in the most recent press conference that Longstaff has been playing with a niggling foot injury for months. Something to do with his foot/ankle that has restricted training in recent weeks. And he's been getting injections to play. This explains a lot. Potentially it makes the argument that given Willock's return there should be a consideration to bench him and use him as a substitute. I think the difficulty with that approach is that his ability to impact a match is predominantly built around his ability to run and run for 90+ minutes. He isn't the kind of player you'd expect to bring on for his impact. It's a difficult one. I think the general takeaway is that he's been playing injured and doing so for the team at the expense of his own performances. The question to Howe was among the first of the presser from someone I think is internal to the club (maybe). Seems it was offered up as an opportunity for Howe to clarify the situation for the supporters. It seems that for most of us it is merely confirmation of what we already suspected. Poor lad. Must be rough playing on one leg and get dogs abuse from us wronguns' on the internet.* *I reserve the right to resume carrying on like a knobend the very moment the match starts on Saturday.
  9. Terrible news, Gloomy. Wishing all the best to you and the family. ❤️
  10. Yep. This is really what the season is about now. It's about establishing/maintaining the foundations for next season. With everyone fit we have a super strong squad. If we can hold that together and add two-three players to the starting XI and then have those current starters pushed down to squad player status then we could do anything with a bit of luck. We're not a million miles away and it's happened rather quickly, especially given the limitations of FFP and the big clubs working almost specifically against us. I get what you mean about the apathy but I think for me it's more a zen attitude to all this, (Zen, if you ignore my Isak-like goal celebrations). But, overall, we look good and we're getting better on a macro-level. This is a hiccup with a perfectly rational explanation and not something emblematic of a deeper problem. Take Chelsea as the counter example. They've spunked all the money and they look worse. Then there's ManU who are a continuing shambles. Liverpool are losing their talismanic trotter. Tottenham remain a basket case. Villa need to sell players. Arsenal look strong tbf. And City remain a force at least until Pep looks to move on. We're in a good spot.
  11. Let's be honest Europa Conference is not much of a motivation compared to CL football. We're a team playing like it's motivated by the possibility of getting into the places for tinpot European football and not the real deal. I think it's confirmation today that this is the team we are for the remainder of this season. I think if we manage to keep in the fight for 7th towards the end of the season that might be enough to eek out a little bit of a flurry of results to get us there. But at the moment it seems like too many players are simply going through the motions. There's a distinct lack of intensity today that has been evident for months on end. This is not to say that injuries and fatigue are non-factors. Of course, they are. But the return to the mid-table in terms of results has seen a return to mid-table in terms of quality for a few players. And that combined with injuries, fatigue and loss of form and identity means that unfortunately this crap is likely to be served up a few more times before the end of the season. But, hey, it's not like we are unfamiliar with a schizophrenic Newcastle side. We've got our old club back for a month or so.
  12. Tyler referring to the referee as a 'rising star'. More like an aerated turd.
  13. Longstaff needs to be hooked. He offers nothing when he isn't running his balls off and he's honestly looked lazy today. Get Anderson on.
