I think most (ordinary) people who are fans of the sport would disagree with that, to be honest, even if the sport itself may feel that way... I wasn't talking about the fans of the sport tbh... I know, that's why I said... etc. You know what I mean though. It's a heavily sponsored sport that lives and dies on viewing figures and people turning up to watch, and for the most part - rabid Tifosi members aside - they do it for the skill and the personality cult that is the drivers' championship and not because they have a penchant for a particular team. In a way, how the sport sees itself is far less important.
