Villas fans (after an enjoyable perusal of their forums this morning) dont reckon hes any good at all, fallen off badly after a bright start.

I was really happy to see us just making everything difficult for Villa tonight, felt a bit more like a performance from last season. I have a feeling we'll see more of that in this second half of the season now as we've lost the "hype" from hitting the top four last time out and teams will be back trying to get at us rather than us struggling when the onus is on us all.

Cant imagine swapping Gordon, hes been one of our best players this season from the left, it makes very little sense to destabilise his performances. Barnes being on the right means we only have to get up and running with one new player in an unfamiliar role in the side rather than a new player on the left and one playing a new position on the right.

And if we were going to pay 18 million for Solanke I'd be fine with it. Finding great value isn't easy but we shouldn't be paying more for this lad than we did any of Bruno, Botman or Gordon who are all younger and better than he is.

I desperately don't want us to sign Solanke, the figures being quoted for him are a joke. Hes 26 and this is the first time hes managed double figures in the premier league. He only got 6 in 32 starts last season. Hes a 50 million pound dwight gayle.

That last points the key one for me. Anyone leaving will be sold with a view to using the money to improve, which is just NOT how its been for us in decades. The owners dont want or need to take any money out, they only want to be the biggest club they can.

@Gemmill How are you getting on with your Strandberg now you've had it a while? I haven't picked up another guitar since I got mine, I've got used to the neck profile now and am actually putting some new years effort into practicing not just playing. Love it so far.

We dont have another game for 11 days, and he wont exactly be flying in the cheap seats. Some time off will be good for his mentality.
