  1. I think its a case of signing players when you have an opportunity to do so. Unless I've missed an update I've not seen any credible sources saying that Diaby is achievable, his club don't need the cash and he doesn't seem to be all that fussed about leaving. If Paqueta is signable this summer we should make that happen, we have a place for him. Based on last season I don't think ASM, Fraser as first choice on the wings with Almiron and Murphy as backups is actually bad. Its obviously not good enough for where we want to end up but we're not ending up there yet anyway.
  2. If, at this point, you want to discuss why people should be getting vaccinated, take it to PM or the Coronavirus thread.
  3. Whats wrong with that? quicker decisions, better information for fans in the grounds. Sounds great.
  4. https://www.caughtoffside.com/2022/07/05/arsenal-and-newcastle-bid-for-sergej-milinkovic-savic-transfer/ Apparently Arsenal and ourselves have approached Lazio for Sergei Milinkovic-Savic as he wants away from Lazio. Seems like the valuations are some way apart but if we were to pull that one off our midfield would be looking incredible.
  5. I honestly don't believe we'd pay his wages, given we seem to be being really careful about keeping a structure in place.
  6. Stop fucking quoting it ffs.
  7. Fully on board with that decision. That kids reps are going to greed him out of a top level career the way theyre going. Theres absolutely no fucking way madrid and bayern are after him, they don't sign "ten goals once" players, especially when theyre looking for the next benzema/lewandowski profile player
  8. At this rate botman and ekitike (or their entourages) are going to talk themselves out of the biggest moves theyre ever going to get. we want botman off the back of performances that won lille the league in 20/21 and ekitike off one season of "breakout" quality. Both those clubs finished midtable in france this season. Cant imagine ekitike would be as fancied next summer if he doesnt manage to reproduce this seasons form, as happens plenty with breakout youngsters and another mediocre finish for lille and the world will have moved on from midtable french league defender botman to the next big thing. ive never really given a shit about whether we get ekitike in particular, I'm starting to like the idea of moving on, let him learn not to let his advisors take the piss with his talent.
  9. Can shift week to week for me depending on what I have on my plate. The main thing though is that now my "performance" at work is all measured on what gets done, rather than how hard I "appear" to work. I'm somehow more productive and feel like I work less hard. Its class.
  10. I can't see them wanting to make a CL push with Ekitike as Lewandowskis replacement, surely him leaving wouldn't be that big a component in signing a "one for the future" forward.
  11. How on fucking earth did I miss this when it was posted?
  12. I suppose it is. It's somewhat moot in a practical sense as I am very happily married to Mrs A but yeah.
  13. The problem I have with that, and why I'm perhaps a little more tolerant of the ham-fisted efforts of the likes of Wykis diversity officer, is that people often don't navigate these things themselves without things pushing them to do it. Progress one coffin at a time isn't really quick enough when we know how disproportionally represented the trans community are as victims of violent crime and suicide. Look at the fucking states (I know I know) trying to row back on trans rights as we speak, because no one is forcing them to accept it, they drive backwards with fury because the cunts who hate these people for no good reason are far angrier about it than those of us who would like to just let acceptance come organically. Those people and those beliefs (hopefully) will eventually die but not before many more confused and unhappy kids are forced into lives they don't want either kill themselves or someone does it for them because they don't want to hide who they are.
  14. It's small, but it will grow as it becomes more commonplace and more accepted because thats how it always works. It happened with left handedness and it continues to happen with people not being straight. (both of which effect me directly) it wasn't until I (fairly recently) accepted a few things about myself and came out that I got a bit more involved in LGBTQ+...stuff (for lack of a better term) that I started meeting more people who were trans, non-binary or gender-fluid and was actually able to bring those issues into my real everyday life. Its important to people, even though they're a very small group of people as it stands, and it requires so little from me that its not really even worth calling it "effort" so I do my best to respect it and if it happens to make the world a slightly better place for someone who just wants to live their life in peace and acceptance (and yeah fuck it, if it makes it worse for some bigoted prick along the way) then thats great and its worthwhile.
  15. And that has been my lived experience of every person I know who does have pronouns that aren't as one might assume. I absolutely slip up sometimes and it never outwardly seems to bother anyone, correct and move on.
  16. I try to think of pronouns and sexualities like names, if I don't know someones name I wouldn't just take a swing at it based on what they look like. It's all a bit clumsy and ham fisted but early progress often is, the manner in which it makes the world better for some people far outweighs the ways it makes it worse for others. Take Wykis cycling club, outright asserting that only gender neutral terms is the way to go is obviously (to any of us) a clumsy way of doing this, and it will probably relax back to a more considered level in a short time, but the alternative as Wyki put it, was a bunch of old white blokes who didn't mind the status quo because the status quo was made to suit them. As for TT, if we wanted to attract more members and spur some growth then yeah we probably should look to implement some more rules on posting and general offensiveness and clean our act up, but we're not really looking to do that, regular posters all know each other well enough that its not an issue between any of us, I agree that I don't think there is a real racist, homophobe, transphobe or any other ist or phobe among us. More often than not, these things progress when they actually impact our lives, I ask this next question not as an accusation, which it could definitely look like so I want to make it clear its not. Do you know anyone who is non-binary, gender fluid or trans?
  17. The word you're looking for is "they"
  18. Mate, they can't get their shit together for long enough to stop murdering each other en masse and deciding the blacks/mexicans/women/the gays don't deserve rights.
  19. Thats not entirely true, he started around half their games while he and contes time overlapped.
