If European qualificiation is your criteria for a decent season then 2 of the 3 seaons before Ashley took over can be defined as shite as well. this is what makes me laugh. Dismissing over a decade as if it didn't count. Mike Ashley will not take this club into europe as often as the old regime if he owns the club for 50 years, never mind 15. NO, he hasnt dismissed anything, he's actually referring to 2 out of the last 3 seasons before Ashley took over, whereas YOU are dismissing them because they dont sit well with you. Blend -

5 years is a long time. Has it really taken that long for Mike Ashley to give us our first good season ? Do you think he will do what needs to be done to build on it and try to go higher ? This is what I have always said, along with the club being run for the benefit of Sports Direct, which will always come first. Players will be sold if the club doesn't make an operating profit. It was, and still is, hardly rocket science, yet people have rubbished that for all this time. I've said this before, and I'm not saying it any more. If we keep ALL our best players, and put 2 [or even 3] new players straight into that team this summer, in keeping with an ambitious club with the 14th biggest revenues in football along with 25m quid from sales burning a hole in the transfer kitty, I will be completely sold on the change of direction that they showed in January, doing what they should always be doing, and look forward to next season with massive hopes and expectations, and admit that I have been wrong. Do YOU or anybody else see this happening ? Qualifying for europe should be the start, but all this talk of "progress" makes me smile in the same way as people posted years ago that all they needed was a "plan". The fact is, the "plan" has been and always will be to exist in the premiership and promote Sports Direct, making a profit and selling a player if a profit isn't made. The team has done better than they and everybody thought this season, but all it will do is encourage them to think they can carry on as they are, this is the extent of the "plan", and it is now in place. They will not attempt to push on, or do the right things that need to be done to enable them to push further forward. Sad, but true. Someone like me wants to see the club succeed and win a trophy or two before I get older. I hope I am wrong, but I'm afraid this is what I see happening, and what I've seen in place for some time now. I am going to see NUFC play abroad next season, because for different reasons which I am not going to post on here, I didn't do it the last time, myself and my mate are both going to do this while we can, both in terms of getting older and also because neither of us see the club consolidating or improving on what has happened this season. 5 years is a long time. Has it really taken that long for Mike Ashley to give us our first good season ? --- It's taken him that long to sort out your Idol's mess, probably could have done it sooner but he made some mistakes along the way. It would appear that he has now put right most of his own mistakes, and the majority of Shepherds too! I will be completely sold on the change of direction that they showed in January --- Why do you think they have changed direction in January when they have been on about a five year plan for some time now?? I am going to see NUFC play abroad next season, because for different reasons which I am not going to post on here, I didn't do it the last time --- Wow, I thought you backed the club with your money, and this is what made you an Uber-supporter? I went to Feyenoord, so I guess that means I am completely more knowledgable than you..... chum! -

Im not sure how thats relevant ( though you are probably right about me not being popular), all Im saying is that its refreshing with some varied angles as to how us fans percieve the running of the club. These days you get credit for saying everything is fucking mint, while you get slagged off for being a bit more cautious. Im not fully onboard the ashley project yet, I want to see how the summer pans out first and if he intends to build on this season or cash out. In reference to LM, this is understatement of the millenia -

the jokes on you Scotty boy....one day you will wake up and realise what has been nothing but utter delusion. Please tell me, what is the next step of this "progress" or "plan", and how will it be done ? The truth is while getting back into europe is good, it should only be the start. It IS only the start you pig ignorant Blend. What you whinging about you cretinous idiot? -
He is "The Groundsman," he can move any of the goalposts at any time, however he IS a BLEND for doing it.

How Newcastle Became Talk Of The Toon
PUGATRON1000 replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
with 25m quid burning a hole in the managers transfer kitty, which is not being given to him ? I don't think so. You should answer all those questions, if you really want to substantiate that absurd claim you are making. Basically, they have moved the goalposts, gone backwards and set up lower forward expectation levels. In a nutshell, that is spot on and time will prove it. They have gone 3 steps backwards, gone 1 or 2 step forwards again but it all stops here. Enjoy it while you can, because they will not build on this by keeping their best players and backing the manager. Which is fine if you want to watch a financially stable club sitting in the premiership without reaching out to stay among the top places, but people who actually go to games and support the club by putting their cash into it tend to have a different priority. Can't be arsed to check but i'm pretty fuckin sure you advocated hitting Ashley in the pocket by not buying pies/pints etc.... Hypocritical twat. -

On paper EVERY player in the world is for sale, that is to say they all have their price. I believe that most of the top players in La Liga have buyout clauses in their contracts, including Messi, however they are above and beyond what people would/could pay. I seem to recall reading that Messi's buyout clause was around 250 million Euros in 2009, but I think it has been upped since then! I also think that keeping our players happy will be the best way to keep them! -

Just turned 22 according to Wiki. Still young, still time for him to be a handy squad member. Unlike Amdy Faye You say that but most of Liverpool's buys are young too yet people think it is perfectly fine to write them off. They may become world beaters. I wouldn't put it past Andy Carroll. Gosling didnt cost £35 million though did he? -

The current financial policy is fine for where we are at; but to get to the next level, we need to spend money. We were meant to be seemingly thankful that Ashley was prepared to spend £9m on Cisse. Cisse is a quality buy and worth probably more but we should be spending money like that regularly. You spend money, you get quality, obviously it may not happen if you spend it on shit but no one is saying that. As I say, if he starts spending money, all fine and good. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy. However, I can't see why it suddenly changes the fact that we were regularly qualifying for such competitions under Freddy Shepherd. "You spend money, you get quality" -- Luque, Owen, Boumsong to name but three. "As I say, if he starts spending money, all fine and good" -- You sound like a gold-digging slapper who sidles up to the guy with the blingiest watch. Look at this way:- Carroll + Henderson + Downing + Adam = £78m Ba + Cabaye + Tiote + Cisse = £18m Ask yourself out of Liverpool and Us, who has bought the better players?? And who are the mugs?? "I can't see why it suddenly changes the fact that we were regularly qualifying for such competitions under Freddy Shepherd" -- It doesn't, why do you think it does?? -

"Europa League should be the very minimum for this club" -- No club has a guaranteed right to anything. It should be applauded when its achieved, not booed when it isnt. "Running a club on a shoe-string will only get you so far" -- It can get you out of crippling debt, which is when you can really start to build on solid foundations, instead of trying to build on shaky debt ridden, credit card propped quicksand. "If Ashley starts spending large sums of money and we qualify for Europe in the form of Europa League/Champions League every season only then will I turn a blind eye to the level of piss take he has delivered." -- What if he gains regular qualification without spending big, would you be happy or not? "he's leaching the club through free advertising" -- I'd much rather that the siphoning money through warehouse scams and the likes!! -

Just because Ashley is getting lucky with regards to results on the field, doesn't mean we still aren't a circus off the field. Stadium called Sports Direct Arena ffs, we still haven't seen all of the Carroll money. Fair play to him on recruiting Graham Carr but that's about it. Time will tell with regards to Pardew, you have to remember Hughton himself wasn't exactly doing a crap job. Not sure what you mean by the bit underlined, but I certainly reckon that the rest is utter horseshit. Lucky for 33 games?? IMHO we are LESS of a circus now than at any time in Ashley or Shepherds reign. Instead of having teammates fighting each other on the pitch we have teammates fighting FOR each other. Instead of gaining backpage headlines for off the field nonsense we are getting backpage headlines for our on the pitch achievements. Instead of having the country mock us for for being "deluded geordies" we are now gaining envious glances from a lot of the country. Instead of spunking money we havent got on players past their prime we are investing money we DO have on good players with potential to get better Instead of having our Chairman in the papers laughing at us for buying shirts, and slagging off our city we have an owner who HAS made mistakes, but HAS also put a lot of them right, along with the previous incumbents mistakes also!! -

Already said, around 95% of people did not boo. Thin straw you;re clinging to with this argument LM. I certainly didnt, nor did I when Partizan knocked us out of the qualifiers.... but I'd bet my arse "The Groundsman" did (AKA Leazes) -

The only relevance it has to now is the legacy of debt that still exists. And by the way there were at least 4 absolutely shit seasons when Shepherd was Chairman so this "golden decade" shite really is that. paranoid rubbish. We weren't relegated for starters, and qualified for europe more times than we ever will under your man. It's crap like this which makes me laugh. If you had supported the club as far back as you claim, you wouldn't even need to be told the difference in outlook and ambitions. It sticks out a mile. I'm pretty sure i asked you a question (in one of the many posts you ignored you "shamb-aholic" idiot,) but specifically the one where i posted the league finishes pre-Ashley and iirc the average was around 7th, (isnt that pretty shit for the 14th highest revenue club IN THE GALAXY eh?) I disagree we are a selling club, we have let the right players go for the right price (Enrique aside,) and now have a better side than we have had for a damn sight longer than Ashley has been in charge. If this situation means you feel compelled to piss on everyone elses chips and shout in their ears that "It'll all go wrong soon!," then that makes YOU a bigger wanker than I ever thought was possible, even for you. Even if the wheels fall off in years to come I'D like to enjoy the here and now without your Doom-mongering bollocks. I am absolutely genuinely stunned that someone can have such an incredulous level of self delusion, whereby the whole world is wrong and always has been, and you are ALWAYS correct. You know who you are? You're the fucking piss-stinking tramp with the "The End Of The World Is Nigh" sign that we have all seen in so many films shouting at passerbys, and whilst i knew that a few of them must exist in reality I'm fucking stunned that you have internet access! In summary --- Shut up and give it a rest you BLEND! -

Two good managers not good directors - the fact that they appointed shit managers who failed and fleeced the club for millions proves that. Yes the bigger picture - in debt with credit running out and no chance of investment as the summer of 2003 and the following years under Souness and Roeder proved. No need for psychic ability - shit league positions and millions wasted - no hindsight required. this is what I like the desperation to point out the "hatred of Fred" to the extent that a whole decade is almost irrelevant. As opposed to your desperation for Ashley to fail, regardless of the fact that would be to the detriment of NUFC & it's supporters, (but hey ho you'd be able to tell and and sundry that you were right) I think the two most appropriate words for someone with your outlook is MACKEM CUNT! As for difference between booing 5th and cheering it, it's pretty simple if you ask me, booed when the average NUFC supporter expected us to qualify for the champions league because they saw it as our RIGHT to (after all 14th biggest revenue and all.... yada fuckin yada!) Cheered 5th when the average NUFC supporter realised that NO team has an automatic right to qualify for CL, Europa League, or fuckin stay in premier league you tool, they all have to be EARNED over the course of the season. Seems super simple to me.... super simple just like you you BLEND! -

As I was when I welcomed Hughton in the Job or when I said we'd come straight back up following relegation or when I said we'd do well our first season back or when I agreed with the decision to replace Hughton with Pardew or when I said Ashley would make the club a success or when I told NUSC to buy a pub etc etc et fucking cetra This is the start of the slippery slope to Leazes-dom!
