Why the skimpy outfits? 180474 I'm guessing they wore them in the comic book. I mean graphic novel 180476 Wherin they were playing prostitutes, strippers and barmaids. Generally professions that require you to show a bit of skin. -

It was visually very impressive, that doesn't cut it for me for 2 hours. What about the portrayal of the women in it, how is it not a wankfest? A plot and vaguely believeble acting helped the movies you've mentioned, by the way. 180470 It might well be a wankfest, but all the women in it were strong individuals who gave the blokes as good as they got. They might have wore skimpy outfits, but there was no gratuitous sex scene that dragged out for 15 minutes and served no purpose but titillation, like you get in the average hollywood actioner. Those scenes offend me more than anything in Sin City. -

I've never read the novel, but I like watching films with a bit of visual flair. It amazes me that anyone could prefer Paycheck over Sin City. If you are happier with the standard chase, loud explosion, big orchestra, fast cuts to give the illusion of a fast moving film, guy and girl get it on action shit that gets endlessly reproduced Paycheck will provide you with the same enjoyment as any of the others like The Island or I, Robot. I've never seen anything like Sin City. -

Nah. It's not. It's just one that you disliked most. 180442 Not seen it but the phrase "mixed reviews" springs to mind. By the way HF, have you heard any comments re: 'A Scanner Darkly'? It's an excellent book and I like the idea of the cartoon effect (for want of a better description). Never too sure about Keanu Reeves though. 180446 Yeah, I watched the first 20 minutes for free on-line somewhere, I'll try and find it. Looked lush. 180447 Here it is. The reviews I've read have all been positive, and I like what I've seen. -

Is it Tarantino or Miramax that choose to fleece his films for every penny? I think there's 3 Pulp Fictions, 2 Jackie Browns, 12 or so Reservoir Dogs. Kill Bill was stretched over 2 filmsm, each with an initial vanilla disc, then a special edition to follow, then the thetrical release of the combined film, then that on DVD... -

Which Manchurian candidate? I've only seen the Frank Sinatra one and was considering the remake. Meryl Streep is generally worth watching. -

I do that a lot. I could never buy a movie for packaging, that movie's not even that good, is it? I keep all my DVDs in those carry case/bag thingies, much more convenient. Some extras (particularly comedy ones) I hang on to, but it has to have something good on. 180359 cough....splutter...kyahch What? "not even that good?" It's amazing. Get it watched Luckyluke. Then watch again with the superb audio commentary turned on. -

Dave Gorman is excellent. Just watched his googlewhack adventure again there tonight and although not especially witty, his storytelling style is often hilarious.

Open a Betfair account and lay EVERY favourite in EVERY greyhound meeting. Over the last month you'd have only been down on 3 or 4 days. Only problem is the small amounts people bet on the Greyhounds hardly make it worthwhile.
