1. Mmmmm...Jennifer Connelly! The 39 Steps. Classic Hitchcock. The lead reminded me of Rodney Bewes.
2. Leary is a cock for the simple fact he blatantly ripped off a large amount of Hick's material completely shamelessly. 176557 Bill Hicks on Dennis Leary: "I stole his act", I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did." When a reporter asked Hicks why he had quit smoking, he answered: "I wanted to see if Denis Leary would." Hicks died of cancer in 1994, and Leary's comedy hasn't been as successful since. 176564 I never knew the Leary was held in such disdain, but doesnt change the fact that Lock and Load made me laugh more than anything else I have seen on TV 176608 I like Asshole (The song, not the bodypart). Eddie Murphy is brilliant. "Lillian...can...not....use...the telephone"
3. LIEOVERSIAL! 176546 I've listened to ...is it something I said?, Richard Pryor and That Nigger's Crazy and didn't crack a smile.
4. Richard Pryor lacked the funny. The best thing he ever did was Superman III FACTOVERSIAL.
5. On the champagne last night. I'm going to be an uncle Death warmed up today.
6. Didn't you like Cinderella Man or Willow? Or Splash? He was in American Grafitti too, which is supoyb.
7. A film especially liked by the uber-nerds. It's GREAT.
8. Apollo 13 is on ITV2. I really love the bit where they do their sums. Crash zooms on a sliding rule. Ultra close up's of working in the margin. It's like maths porn.
9. The Sun - Or Solntse to give it it's original title. The third in a trilogy by Aleksandr Sokurov. This one is based on Hirohito, the previous 2 looked at Hitler and Lenin, but Moloch and Telets (as they were called) still haven't had an English release . If you enjoyed Downfall (the Oliver Hirschbiegel film that's always on More4) Then The Sun is worth a look, . Issey Sogata's performance is fascinating. Mr Smith Goes To Washington - This might have to go into my top ten films ever. I wonder if oil millionaire George Bush has watched it and if he felt a sting.
10. Deal or No Deal rates higher than 24 in the US. FACT! Planet Earth has been the best TV from either side of the Atlantic this year.
11. The Halo director has been announced. http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=24134
12. Extras was on last night. That's canny funny.
13. Seinfeld wrote half the thing so he must be as funny as any of his characters. He can't act at all, which puts a lot of people off. Kramer is occassionally a bit too bonkoz, but some of his physical comedy is superb (getting the cement in the washing machine, putting a tv in his boot, taking a power shower etc). Elaine can be dull.
14. I pissed myself watching Saboteur the other day. Describing the suspect over the police radio, the operator says in all seriousness "The suspect is male, under 6 foot, brown haired, without a hat!" Reminded me of the Simpsons where Wiggum loses the car in front because they turn out their lights, "The suspect is hatless, repeat, hatless!"
15. George Costanza = greatest sitcom character ever. OPINION!
16. After 14 pages, the quality of the quotes started to drop off
17. Aqua Teen Hunger Force "Do what now?"
18. Is Two For The Money really bad? I want to see it cos I don't mind McConaughey and I like Pacino, but I'm not sure about it. Forgot about Angels in America actually. That was the HBO thing where he's got AIDS or something, right? 175452 Aye and aye.
19. I'm not overly impressed by his black jacket, shouty shouty period like. Hoo-ah Sometimes it works (Carlito) sometimes not (Two For The Money). He's supposed to be immense in 'Angels in America' though.
20. Do you like plays? 175369 Yeah. But stroking a pretend dog? That's just not cricket. 175372 Nowt compared to what they do to the pretend dog at the end.
21. She doesn't, but she gets bost all over off every bloke in town.
22. You forget about it very quickly. Honest. And John Hurt narrates. The man is a god. But he's in The proposition too, so get that if you're after a more conventional film.
23. I credit you with enough intelligence to see past the fact it's set on an empty sound stage where the actors pretend to interract with surroundings that don't exist. Going so far as to pet an imaginary dog that's been drawn on the ground. If that sounds too artsy there's always the fact that Nicole Kidman gets abused throughout to enjoy.
24. I loved Dogville. Thought it was brilliant. Can understand others hating it though. Hope this helps
25. Inbetween Days? 175313 That's the fella.
