...and Northern Monkey called it pretty perfect too.

Interesting reading through the opinions from when Milner was sold following on from the threads about who was right at what point. Especially considering what a successful purchase he turned out to be for them. 2Bias called it pretty much spot on like... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=509973 ...and pretty much got short shrift as most agreed what a good price £12m was to have gotten and had no doubt it would get reinvested.

So you didn't like what he was doing in season 1...but feel he's got better in the last 2 years? Righty O I said exactly the same things as Leazes after the takeover at the same time he said them. He fucked everything up but managed to sort it out since then. What did he do wrong in the relegation season? Was 12th not good enough for you last season? Was £35m not a good price for Carroll? Did you not hope we would sign a striker before the end of the window gone? His strategy, outlook, tactical approach has completely changed but i should still judge everything he does through the prism of the KK / JFK debacles? I was as optimistic as anyone in 07/08 but it was pretty obvious they were implementing a PR strategy and therefore whatever was said would need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Feel free to search my posts on NO, just reflecting what i said when i said it. Not disputing what you said or when. Just find it surprising someone who's so insistent on making evidence based conclusions would not be happy with Ashley in year one (Bringing in Keegan and £10m on Coloccini has been the peak of his ambition) but more happy following relegation, despite the disappointing windows and sacking of Hughton. Try making an evidence based post then. I said i was cynical about his PR but optimistic about the future in his first season. I didnt say i was happy following relegation, i was making the point that his financial management and approach since then (£48m wage bill in the second tier is unprecendented globally) were the right things to do. Seems to me the vast majority are and always have been pretty much on the same page in this regard, cautiously optimistic in 07/08. Disgusted by the entire relegation season and not particularly happy the last 2 years despite things settling somewhere better than many feared following that debacle. I never said they werent but that post does make me wonder why i needed to clarify what i think to you. I'm confused whether you think you've been on the same page too. I include you and LM as being so. Got the impression from your first post I responded to you were distinguishing yourself and LM as realising they were clearly up to no good in year one, not sure in what respect given that Fish and the majority agreed on the PR stunts. they [and Fish] most def did not realise they were up to no good in year one. Suggest you read some of my links again mate. I've posted the links, clearly putting across my views both before and shortly after the takeover. People are STILL disagreeing now. And others still won't admit they were wrong. They know who they are. I gave you credit for starting to turn on them sooner than most, after about 10 months I'd say. Most of us were still giving them the benefit of the doubt through the summer (as you had too for most of the year previous - "Time will tell" up until March '08) in the hope that the rumours we were hearing were wrong. Many of us holding out that hope right up until Milner went & Keegan left in September. As I said, I can't see anywhere in those links where you do anything but say they could go either way and what they'll need to do if they're going to keep you happy. Very different to your claim it was clear from day 1 their intentions and you said so all along. You're gonna have to quote the specific bits from those links if you think they prove otherwise. Doesn't make any difference to owt like, whether someone called Ashley following that first January Window, the Summer Keegan walked or waited right up until after the tribunal totally backed KK up, we all hate Ashley now.

The Secret Diary of Lee Ryder (aged 44 and a half)
Happy Face replied to Craig's topic in Newcastle Forum
Did he say that?? Ask him on what basis he is saying that on twitter and post him a link to the discussion on it on here. I may have been unfair. On his webchat the other day http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-u...72703-29366692/ So, it's a caveat of "providing it does". But then someone asks.... And Ryder ignores that question. -
Think the bold quotes would be the exact response if he did...maybe that was the question asked. Ryder can't change the answers to his questions or force any honesty out of anyone at the club. As with the "dirty Dozen" questions, I've not really got any interest in what anyone asks the club or what response they give, but the local rag has to report it. What pisses me off is when they repeat their answers as the facts in opinion pieces, as with the SD signage bringing in money for players. Fair enough, I'd expect a little more than one question and then the nodding dog act though. No comment in the article about the 100% quote. I might be wrong on this, but did Pardew say we'd be stronger if we got a left back and striker into the club? If so, Ryder has 2 of Pardews own quotes to put forward to him. I appreciate that as the local journo, you can't fight the club every step of the way, but e-mailing them 12 miserable questions from the fans isn't exactly hard-hitting journalism. It's infuriating to watch like. Ryder could embarrass Pardew with loads of daft things he's said (Hughton never came out with owt daft like that) and he'd only have himself to blame...but outside of the satisfaction of seeing someone at the club held to account....it's probably not the man who deserves it.

Wasn't sure he was any good after watching him for 5 year. Thanks for the info. Hope it doesn't jinx him like Nii Lamptey.

tbf I'm with Ryder on that one. You can't have a pop at a paper for reporting what the manager says.

I'll leave them to Jedward

Hilarious that Ryder still doesn't accept the Chronicle is at least kind to the club at the same time as he peddles the line that whatever Sports Direct advertising they want to hoy up is great as it's bringing in money to buy players. -
My mam warned me that tendency would lead to trouble.

Not quite sure what I'm to be picking out of all those, Only the penultimate one relating to Ashley I think. And that thread goes to show, even Fish was pretty much in agreement with you. PR stunts weren't fooling him (or anyone)...both saying wait and see.

why do you reckon he sold hughton? my guess is he told him carroll was going to be sold and it was the first time hughton kicked off about anything. until then, he'd gone about things quietly but maybe thougth winning promotion and doing well in his first season int he premiership had bought him some bargaining power. ashley thought not so he sacks him and replaces him with a yes man. all speculation like, but it can't have been because of results on the pitch, which had been excellent and way better than we were expecting. EVERY decision is looked at on the basis of cheapest option. No problem to Ashley having a disgruntled manager or fans. Hughton was reported to be on the lowest salary in the league at 250k a year. He took it as a Championship manager, but was up for renewal and would have wanted at least 4 times that on a 5 year deal (Keggan and Allardyce were on 12 times as much). Rather than give Hughton a £5m contract for 5 years, he gave Pardew a £2.5m contract over 5 years. Half the price.

So you didn't like what he was doing in season 1...but feel he's got better in the last 2 years? Righty O

The way Chez has always put it, the £35m covers the £16m and £17m losses from the relegation and championship seasons. Those losses were reported AFTER player trading, so it's all in there. Having said that...Llambias never stopped going on about the millions being pumped into the club at the time by Ashley to cover those losses...so it can't work both ways.
-
I'd be over 90% sure it was an outright lie. The board are proven liars, and they have lied to Shearer, Nolan and others, even going so far as shaking hands on deals and then reneging. Their track record does speak for itself like. Btw, is there a transcript online of those infamous programme notes / open letter to the fans from FMA (first home game of the relegation season I think - Bolton, was it?)? As some of the shit in that was fucking outrageous in retrospect. The Hull Game after it kicked off?

Getting the impression Barfa ripped the shit out of your brogues when you met.

Again, phrases like "vast majority" are where you over egg the pudding. The vast majority did indeed want Fred out, me included. If anyone said it, it must have been a tiny minority who said they "didn't really care who replaced "him"" though. It's getting on for a majority of fans wanting Arsene Wenger out at Arsenal these days.....I'm sure most of them wouldn't be happier with Joe Kinnear, and they aren't saying Wenger hasn't had an overall positive effect on the club.

Reported. I'll report that sig. Proper abuse and no mistake.
