  1. Everton won't be laughing at us - they lost a player they wanted to keep and got no fee for him.
  2. Spurs are haemorrhaging talent at the moment like
  3. Can't remember exactly. I've been having a search about but can't find any mention of it. Loads of sources talking about the original loan deal and how we'd have an obligation to pay £5m more if he played 25 games. None, however, have any more detail about the final transfer fee, other than guesses and estimates.
  4. Interview with Graham Carr, a while back. He said the original deal was a loan with the option for a £5.5m permanent deal. However, he was injured and nobody knew if he'd ever be the same, so we offered a lot less and it was accepted.
  5. Don't forget the impact of wages. Whilst you might get Cisse, Ba and Cabaye for the same fee as Fletcher, it'll cost you an extra £6m a season in wages to pay for those three. Joe Cole for free, on £80k a week (£4m a year) or Hatem Ben Arfa for a final fee of £2.5m and wages of about £40k a week (£2m a year). I know what I'd rather have.
  6. I think we should put an offer in every day, reducing it by £500k each time.
  7. It'd be funny for us to hijack the Fletcher deal. Stick an offer in, get it accepted, then start discussing terms. Then have a prolonged medical and pull out at the last minute.
  8. Canny article, that. Cheers for posting. Interesting to hear Taylor talking about lack of team spirit back then. I wonder if he was referring to Michael Owen, amongst others.
  9. Santon can learn to be a good defender. What you can't teach (at this stage) is a cracking first touch and the ability to pass and move - he has both of those attributes in abundance.
  10. I'm going on holiday soon, and the luggage weight limit is 22kg. Planning on lifting that maybe 3,4,5 or even as much as 8 times over the course of the week.
  11. The box office staff have problems with their English too, you'll be right at home.
  12. His fee was £2.5m. We've done worse - we had Joey Barton in his position a few years back, who managed about 24 games in 4 years.
  13. Ba and Cisse were cracking together when we went on that 6 game winning streak at the end of last season. They'd take turns to lead the line, with the other one pulling out wide and doing a bit more of the grafting. The opposition defenders were being dragged all over the shop.
  14. The fact that we never saw enough of him would suggest he was a failure as a signing.
  15. It's not about whether he's a brilliant player, it's about whether he's a successful signing. He has been flawless the last 10 ish times I've seen him play. He cost relatively little and he's earning a relatively low wage. He can play right across the back four and also cover central midfield. I'd say he's a successful signing.
  16. Yes. Very unfair on Perch. I also think it's too early to make a call on Abeid.
  17. Ring this number: 00 44 844 372 1892 That will put you through to the box office, where you can speak to the sales team and buy your ticket.
  18. So Ashley gets the blame for Debuchy not signing because he "haggled too hard" but gets no praise for Anita despite clearly haggling to just the right level? Graham Carr is an employee of NUFC and ultimately works for Mike Ashley. He has said himself in interviews that he has specific instructions from Ashley about what type of player we should be going for, in terms of age, ability, potential, wages etc. Surely the Anita scouting is as a result of Graham Carr being well briefed and fulfilling his requirement as a scout. We could, alternatively, use the Martin O'Neill method, of picking players who seemed canny on Match of the Day.
  19. Aye, the biggest short fall is lack of depth. The same lack of depth that pretty much every club (other than Man City) are suffering from. We could probably do with another striker, a right back and another centre back - but show me a team who couldn't do with those.
  20. We rarely play a rigid formation though - it fluidly changes during the game. This is something a lot of commentators failed to grasp last season when some would think we were lined up differently to others. It's actually one of the key arguments for including Jonas - that he can fit into such a system. Often we'll start with 4-4-2 but then switch into a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. with either Ba dropping deep or HBA going forward. Jonas is flexible around this, whilst Cabaye and Tiote maintain similar roles.
  21. BBC text commentary last night said it was for violent conduct. http://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/sport/football/mk-dons/afc-bournemouth-1-1-mk-dons-alan-smith-sent-off-as-dons-defend-heroically-to-earn-vital-draw-1-4186630
  22. Don't know loads about bowel cancer, but sounds like there is hope.
