I'm feeling... ... genuinely desperate for the new football season to start. At times I yearn for the relative tranquility of pre-season (little to get worked up about), i.e. when we're not doing well. A few weeks off is good. But I'm really missing it now. For me supporting the club and enjoying football in general is the perfect antidote - at times - to the stresses of the modern day working life. There is always so much to investigate, to analyze. It fascinates me.

It's PC-only, and it's not a sequel to Knights of the Old Republic. Despite the name. Not sure what Kevin is on about. There's been 10s of Star Wars games over the years, of differing types and genres. Some with more replay value than others.

So many of us said, with little confidence, that "I'll live with Carroll leaving if we actually spend all of the £35m". Clearly won't even be close to £20m, never mind £35m. It really isn't unfair to have expected Ashley to have been planning on giving the manager say £10m this summer regardless of outgoings. As such we would have had £45m to spend. Now you can take say £8m out of that for his precious agent fees, signing on fees, improvements to the training ground, wages (!) etc. That leaves £30m+ (not sure what the deal is with add-ons for Carroll) to be spent on new players. Cabaye doesn't count because Nolan's departure covered his fee.

I think he is worth the £20m given the current market but I can see why it might be better to get him in on loan just to make sure it wasn't a purple patch then buy when he has proven it. That said, we wouldn't spend the money after the loan anyway. You beat me to it.

I'm also not terribly comfortable with a loan move. Pretty pathetic that despite a massive cash injection we might end up with a loan player coming in. Small-time thinking.

So that's about £12m out of the Carroll money that would actually get spent on new players. And I'm sorry but as much as I love Shola he shouldn't be the second choice striker behind Ba, particularly as Ba has a questionable injury record.

Apparently you could alternately sit on your couch with a laptop on your, er, lap too. I feel the same about Apple as I do about Liverpool.
