I think the response should have been a Navy Seal team rather than levelling a country whose only crime was being the place the guy fled to (and likely left almost immediately when the bombs started falling). Afghanistan was a foreign policy disaster as well as a humanitarian one.

What's different about this one is that there's a well organised terrorist group sitting out there praying upon and weirdly empowering those who are victims of our insecurity. Insecurity that this group themselves create. It's a very good strategy actually, its working very well. That said, some part of that cycle has to stop somewhere for this to end.

Good post by Holden McGroin. Not the whole issue for us but goes some way to explaining how radicalisation happens on the home front.

He mentioned identifying those funding ISIS and sorting it from there. It's not a bad suggestion to be honest, except it'll lead us to Saudi Arabia and another international incident.

I think you're misunderstanding the thought process behind CT's player recommendations... he doesn't watch anyone play besides our first team, so has no idea what his form has been like in his loan spells - and he tends to favour players who are out of the team. I think it was the Fish who suggested that this was because they weren't likely to get in the team, and therefore it's a fairly safe claim for him to make. At the same time he'll run down players currently in the team who aren't performing, and will then become mysteriously quiet about them when they start improving/score (Mitrovic at the weekend). It's never going to happen at the end of the day, Rafa won't play him, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I see Donald Trump has come out and said that, if elected, he's going to 'hit ISIS so hard you wouldn't believe it'. Given that he has previously come out in support of blowing up the wives and children of terrorists, this is more than a little concerning. Is it...? I honestly think that open debate on things like this should be encouraged. And it's not hard to see why Aimaad finds our views so tedious given that he is able to witness our foreign policy firsthand in his own country, and can probably see the negative impact it has on people's perceptions of the West as a result. He's not sitting there thinking we deserve this man, he's sitting there in despair that we can't see what he thinks is a clear cause-effect scenario between our foreign policy and these attacks. You can disagree with that of course, but I don't think shutting down the discussion (incredibly bad taste) is healthy if we're actually looking for solutions. It's actually all kind of moot now though, we're past the point of no return here with respect of it being foreign policy or not, so we need a solution that addresses the issue aside from this. It's very likely going to be the rescinding of civil liberties, I would expect.

Why would Ashley want to get rid of someone who can guarantee better results and performances, and get us away from this constant threat of relegation we've had for the past 2-3 seasons? Not as bad as being in the hostile group tbf. You'd always expect there to be some people in a party who don't agree with the leadership, and as long as they conduct themselves professionally I don't see any harm in that. It's those who are actively trying to undermine Corbyn and who are therefore distracting everyone from the Tories, who are doing the most damage.

So today we've had a list of Labour MPs who are hostile to Corbyn leaked on the same day that Labour take the lead in the polls and just after the Tory budget nightmare. I know everyone says he has no chance of winning but the lengths people are going to to try and ensure this are staggering.

We're not all blind to the hypocrisy but we've been down this route before mate. I agree with you that our foreign policy consistently makes things worse, but tackling that now is a long term solution. People want something immediate so they can feel as though we're handling the issue. We're not just going to let people die while we correct our foreign policy. Ultimately it's going to mean Trump style solutions and I reckon SEW has the right of it in the direction we're heading. I did read about the killings in Yemen. Sounds as though the US is stepping up its attacks now - that said, wasn't that allegedly a terrorist training camp? Not that you can trust the US statements in this respect given their track record...
