  1. Those first few lines are fucking tortuous. It's like reading one of Fish's posts.
  2. I think the standard of the coaching staff tells you he's not going to push the boat out if Pardew's position becomes untenable.
  3. I think at the end of the day you go if you still enjoy it. I think that's the deciding factor for nearly everyone. I think you're fucking daft if you keep going when you no longer do enjoy it but you're equally fucking daft if you cut your nose off to spite your face because you think there's some principle behind it. I think there's a definite logic to not buying a season ticket irrespective of your standpoint though (certainly in the majority of cases). TV money makes match day revenue less relevant all the time though. As long as we don't go down again that is.
  4. CT, do you think you made a big enough tit of yourself last week playing the hardcore fan card? And, before you answer, do you know what a rhetorical question is?
  5. I reckon Ashley's in for the long haul unless he gets a daft offer, which is pretty unlikely (given I think you could get an equivalent club - in terms of how they're perceived by foreign investors at least - for less). There's absolutely no reason for him to sell because he's steadily making money with the new TV money and so on. Factor in the worldwide exposure of his tawdry brand and that's another incentive to hang onto us. I've just accepted it now, to be honest. It's better than getting disappointed (take transfer deadline day, for example, I didn't even bother checking until this morning). And I think the squad being what it is (along with a start to the league season like last year being unlikely to say the least) there's a ready made excuse for not trying to progress in the cup competitions. Simon Bird got it spot on with his assessment about and the mackems fighting over 12th place (I'd probably take that now if you offered me it).
  6. Think it's a season long loan so I'm not sure if we can even do that.
  7. I'm at the stage now where I just find it funny. We're struggling to score and create chances, generally speaking and we don't look that solid at the back so we let two players go and no one comes in, even on loan
  8. Got a week near Hawkshead in the Lakes at the end of September. Hoping for a bit of an Indian summer and planning on doing plenty of walking. Just realised what an exciting guy I am.
  9. "Hi, Loic. Would you like to come and play for an us on half your current salary?" "No" "Ok. Bye then"
  10. The tension and excitement ahead of our much anticipated encounter with Palace is almost palpable. I can't bear it.

Aye. You'd never get a Muslim smoking weed like
  12. No comment from our resident political behemoth?

  14. He needs quality service, that's for sure. Whether you think he's good enough or not his game is all about movement as he's not a target man type (not strong enough) and he isn't lightning quick either.
  15. I agree on all counts. I thought Williamson* and Yangwa-Mbiwa looked good when they played together. Obvious point to make but centre-back play is all about forming a partnership / understanding. If Richards were to come in and then Colo were to get injured then you'd have no one comfortable playing more as a sweeper / reading the game. *Not suggesting he should be the long-term answer there.
  16. I would imagine that, if it's true (and it's been doing the rounds as a rumour for a while), then it'll Richards instead of Williamson or Taylor playing alongside Colo.
  17. It's Diageo isn't it? Which is British (a dirty word in some quarters up there ) / London-based. I think most of the distilleries are owned by large multi-nationals and only a handful are still family owned. I think the biggest one by far in the latter category is William Grant and Sons (Grants, Glenfiddich, Balvenie). I think you're thinking of Pernod Ricard who are no.2 so your point obviously still stands. Edit: Article here suggests over 80% is owned by non-Scottish firms: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/may/30/diageo-scottish-independence-whisky
  18. Expect a Lee Ryder 'exclusive' tomorrow telling us the deal has stalled over personal terms.
  19. He seemed to be being touted to all-comers 12 months or so ago. Since then he's had a few injury setbacks and only scored 4 competitive goals (2 league goals including a penalty) and he's going to be the main man. Progress.
