  1. i'm surprised our lawyers haven't got involved yet. if the PL think Man City have deep pockets, they should wait till they get a load of the saudi legal team
  2. veggie, not vegan. i love brighton, they have one of the best veggie restaurants in the country as it happens. i have no love for the football team. but with the KING at the helm and Renton in the stands, expect nothing less than another improved performance and a home win
  3. It was definitely fair market value when Ashley turned SJP into a giant Sports Direct advert for, checks notes, zero money because that was the value we held to the PL's decision-makers. It only became unfair when we looked like we could become another a city because they wanted to keep us where we were.
  4. my dad is an evertonian so i've always had a soft spot for them their fans (particularly on social media) are some of the worst, and they seem to hate us with a passion, weirdly. they have taken the baton from villa in recent years as the fanbase you love to hate despite no obvious rivalry between the two clubs. but they've been absolutely rinsed by the PL with these bullshit rules. i'd be fucking livid with all the point deductions if i were them while chelsea continue to spend, spend spend by selling their own hotel to related parties. and now everton look like they could get stiffed again because of this loans thing and it's business as usual for the "big" clubs - the system absolutely stinks.
  5. i genuinely feel sorry for everton. they've been screwed enough by the PL already while "bigger" clubs get to act with impunity
  6. No big Joe? I thought he looked much more like himself against Everton (against a passive midfield opponent admittedly). I like your idea of a 4-2-3-1 with tonali and bruno in the "double pivot" and gordon as "number 10" but i don't see howe changing his preferred system.
  7. guaranteed 3 points, thanks to the real Dr Gloom. Nice one Renty baby - you might be rewarded in the King's birthday honours list if you play your cards right
  8. now the dust has settled, is anybody any clearer to understanding what it all means? will the saudis finally be able to pour their oil dollars into the club? or do we have to wait for this emergency meeting to see if/how the PL will adjust the rules to prevent it happening?
  9. This is an excellent op-ed about the appalling situation Palestinians and Israelis have had to endure this last year. Clear-eyed about the problem and solution https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/07/opinion/oct-7-anniversary-israel-hamas.html?smid=wa-share
  10. thanks, i find all these rules frustrating as fuck to get my head around. i preferred football when you didn't need to be a "so-called" accountant
  11. if the loan system was okay until now, why didn’t PIF use it as a way to get money into the club?
  12. cut to the chase then, what does it mean for us? Can we legally start spending Saudi dollars off the back of this?
  13. Give Sela the St James’ park naming right for 500m. That’ll do for starters
  14. I’d like to think this means the owners can start spending their money freely but the other clubs and the PL will be working overtime to stop it happening. It’ll be interesting to see if the owner’s strategy changes off the back of this and they stop playing mr nice guy
  15. This is the game that will squash this treasonous talk against the crown. The league performances have improved under my watch. We owe someone a hiding and Brighton don’t like playing us at SJP. The stars are aligning. They will continue to play five a side on the edge of their own box and the high-pressing mags will force mistakes, win the ball back and cruise to a convincing win, roared home by a lively SJP. 5-1 to us. Minteh to score first before we romp home with hat tricks a piece from Wilson and Isak
  16. they’re so easy to ignore though. That’s the beauty of them. Not like the messenger apps which tell the sender if you’ve seen their message or not. At least most people have stopped calling on the phone these days. I’m genuinely startled to receive a call these days as so much communication is done on text. I’ve only got one or two friends who still stubbornly insist on phoning to make plans when it could be done in two seconds on WhatsApp. It’s only ever those cunts, or my mam, or scam callers that bother phoning me these days. Or it’s some PR twat who didn’t get a reply to their fourth gentle reminder and has decided to go for the nuclear option. Cue the most awkward conversations of the year. “Oh, yes, I’ve been meaning to get back to you [a blatant lie], I’m afraid this story pitch isn’t quite right for us. Blah blah blah
  17. And don’t get me started with “just bumping this to the top of your inbox in case you missed it” We both know I didn’t miss it. I ignored it and you better believe I’m ignoring this feeble attempt to solicit a reply
  18. Great news for the board’s sports fans
