From .com Steve McClaren - he's taking us down Newcastle 1 Bournemouth 3 Steve McClaren's position as Newcastle United manager now looks to be totally untenable, following a clear demonstration that he no longer has the support of the players or fans. Only the man who recruited him, Lee Charnley, appears to have any confidence in McClaren, although that must surely have finally evaporated after this catastrophic defeat. There are no excuses for him now. He's had the money, the preparation, the mid-season break, the disappointments, the unlucky defeats and yet he is still unable to get anything like a competent performance out of his side. This was beyond a must-win game. A draw would have been an unmitigated disaster and yet United played it as if it was a pre-season stroll or a mid-table end of season affair. What on earth does that say about the players or those employed to organise and motivate them? Bournemouth were deservedly ahead in the first half, albeit via a Steven Taylor own goal and then Joshua King doubled their lead to no-one's great surprise midway through the second. Even an Ayoze Perez goal failed to muster any sort of credible comeback attempt and the final nail in the coffin came in added time when Charlie Daniels had plenty of time and space to slot home the Cherries' third. Once more, the opposition seemed to be superior in every department and despite a committed display from our captain, Jonjo Shelvey, most of his colleagues just didn't seem remotely interested. Thankfully, Norwich and Villa also lost and although the mackems got a point at Southampton, they were leading against ten men deep into added time. There are nine days before our next Premier League game at Leicester City. They could be some of the most crucial in more than 120 years of torment and turmoil that makes up the DNA of this club. We wish we had even a modicum of confidence in those currently in charge of Newcastle United.

As we approach the final 10 games of the season,we're firmly in our third relegation battle of the last 4 seasons. That's 4 out of 8 premier league seasons under Ashley. Each of those terrible seasons has finished under a different manager, but there's one common denominator - the owner. #ashleyout.com. com

Steve McClaren has just emerged and tells the BBC "the positive is we've still got ten games to go". No talk of resigning. " he plans to fight on at Newcastle, and hopes he's given the time to turn things around." "he will not quit as nufc head coach" "We will accept all the criticism. Today was poor. Our football frustrated me most. Not enough characters out there"

He's trying to be sacked now isn't he? Although I doubt he will be.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
trooper replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
I never realised we've had 10 managers in just under the 9 years Ashley bought the club (May 2007). Out of those 9 years Pardew was in charge for 4 years so that makes it 9 managers in less then 5 years. I'm all for change but it hardly breeds stability, anyway based on those figures it looks like McClaren's time has come. -

Your right Gem Ashley is the problem, even if he sacked McClaren tomorrow it won't make any difference Ashley would still be there his replacement would be somebody similar a yes man. The 2 people who imho were the right fit were either sacked (Hughton) or undermined (Keegan) again the same 2 guys weren't yes men. But I'm fairly certain we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now had either of those 2 still been in charge. I've never wanted McClaren as manager it looks like the fans are turning against McClaren & Ashley will be laughing his dick off. Because like Pardew& Carver, McClaren will be the main target for abuse not him. -

We're about 14 hours from seeing his team sheet if he plays one up top he can sod off. -
We must play all out attacking football & go for it from the off. Having said that he'll probably start with a lone attacker up front hoping to contain them, then shit himself when they run our defence ragged & knock in 2 or 3 goals just for fun. McClaren will probably dissappear down the tunnel before the final whistle.

McClaren was asked if tomorrow's game v Bournemouth is a must win? He said: "Every game now is a must win."

Seems like Perez is out of favour so it could well be Gouffran

"We are assessing Andros (Townsend) and don’t want to risk him. We don’t want anything to destabilise what we are trying to achieve between now and the end of the season. My concentration and focus is purely on Bournemouth and winning that game tomorrow" "We’ve lost one in our last six at home, we’ve given the (SJP) crowd something to cheer about and we need to do that again" "We're assessing the injury situation & we're trying to address it" on negative Press and talk of future: "I don't read it. My only focus is Bournemouth". This from today's Presser.

Asked if he would be in charge for the rest of the season, the under pressure boss said: “I don't see any reason why not. -
I admire your optimism Hayd but at the moment Bournemouth, Swansea & the Mackems have all got a bit of fight in them. Were as our lot seem to be waiting for the inevitable.
-
36 would have been enough last season on that basis we have 11 games to get 12 points but that may not be enough it's hard to say.
-
1-3 Cisse's grandad to come on & score a late consolation goal "sacked in the morning" & YFCB Get out of our club" are the songs for today.

I expect there to be plenty of meetings in the coming weeks as the stark reality of relegation kicks in. They told the Fans Forum meeting they had no contingency plans in place for relegation. -
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/mar/01/sport-direct-falls-out-of-ftse-100-guardian-investigation-share-price-working-conditions Sports Direct relegated from the FTSE 100 £1.6 billion wiped off its value could be a double relegation on the cards for Ashley.
