Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
trooper replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think one of the reasons we didn't get better than McClaren is because of the restrictions they put in place regarding transfers. As for Charnley he must he must have thought all his birthdays had come at once when he was fast-tracked to his current job. This is the bloke who previously filled in the reserve team sheet ffs. Obviously the main blame is with Ashley for allowing them to join the club I'm afraid until he sods off the "football club" will never be right. -
It's a good job the lads were "focused" today

Mc Clarens been given a new word to use bet you cant geuss what it is this is him speaking to the Chronicle " It’s about focus. That is the key word. “When this team is focused and really truly focused, when they have got their game heads on, we are a good team that can serve up good performances – like the West Brom game. “If we aren’t focused and we get disrupted by certain things, or our routine is upset, or this or that isn’t right…and we aren’t actually focused come kick-off time, then we are vulnerable. “That has been the message to the players – when the team are focused and have that intensity in preparation before games, the game takes care of itself" -

The organisers confirm that the game will be open to spectators on pitch A at the complex and with a kickoff time of 3pm local time (2pm GMT). Norwegian channel TV2 Sportskanalen have live coverage. Might be worth looking for on Saturday

It's not really about what we've spent these 2 windows it's about what we haven't spent in previous windows.

We wanted/needed a proven premiership striker we didn't get one that's why we're not scoring goals & winning games -

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-news-live-steve-10898179 Steve McClaren has told his players not to allow their heavy defeat at Chelsea "derail" their season. I can't stop laughing since reading that sentence. -
Last 6 home games this is were we'll have to get the points to survive. Bournemouth Sunderland Swansea Palace Spurs Man City tbc It doesn't look very clever does it ?

Just been looking by the time we play Stoke, both Sunderland & Norwich will have played 2 games each we could well be cut adrift by then. Then to see that twat with a grin like a Cheshire cat after we've been frashed 5-1 makes you sick. The thing is he'll never be sacked as yet again he's another one of Ashley's puppets -
So last season Hull went down with 35 points obviously 36 points was the magic number. So on that basis (hypothetical I know) we need something in the region of 12 points from 12 remaining games. Can we do it? based on what we've seen today I very much doubt it. Honestly Chelsea could have punished us a lot more today it wasn't like we tried to keep the score down. More like they eased their foot off the gas, most of the second half looked like a training session for Chelsea. OK so we really didnt expect much but we didn't expect to get turned over like this, is it the players fault ? McClarens fault ? Ashley's fault ? or all of the above ? one things certain continue like this & we will be relegated

@@Haydnator 2 points is all I get we really are in the brown stuff. Stoke (a) Loss Bournemouth (h) Draw Leicester (a) Loss Sunderland (h) Draw

McClaren should set them up to attack we might get something, having said that he'll probably go 7-2-1

If Ashley allowed the club to be ran as a football club & not some massive advertising platform we might have half a chance. -

I wasn't keen on McClaren taking the job, the club had to virtually beg him 3 times to take it. He eventually did with the sweetner of becoming a board member. He's now had over two thirds of the season & not far short of £75 million spent on the team (more than any manager under Ashley) who are worse off than we were last year. I can hear the "it's not his fault it's the lack of investment" argument that's fairy Nuff. But at the end of the day he knew what he was getting with Ashley,Charnley & co he has to take the blame. Playing players out of position setting them up wrong becoming a clone of Pardew with his endless spiel of everything will be ok in time (something we don't have). Yet again we are walking a relegation tightrope tbh we should never have been in this position following last season's scare. Maybe it's time for Charnley to dig out those other 90 odd applicants he said they had for the job because I don't think McClarens the one to take us forward. In fact he just might be the one who takes us down again & we could well be down for a long time. -
http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/02/reason-mike-ashley-not-raising-newcastle-united-ticket-prices-must-read/ 14 months since SJP was sold out the only guarantee of a sell out is "the derby" game

We needed these 3 points today I felt after a great start, that towards the end last 10/15 minutes. We allowed them back in & at one point I looked like they might have drawn level. We must try and put in the same performance next week against Chelsea. We have no game for 18 days after that game due to the Man City game being postponed. All the teams around us will try & exploit this so it's important we get something next week. For today well done lads keep it up.
-
Aye I'll be watching it while keeping an eye on the Norwich v Villa game.
-
I think McClaren said today he'd drafted in 3 under 21s to the squad.
-
It's like Pardew all over again he's churning out the same old bollocks week in week out its getting a bit tedious now. They've spent something like £74 million to get a team that's gone backwards. We needed a left back we didn't bother we will now have to play an unfit player to cover that position. Then the striker we needed a proven premiership striker (Austin) was supposed to have been a done deal but didn't happen fast forward to Xmas. With the window fast approaching it was more than evident that we still needed THAT striker Berahino seemed to be the main focal point. Various other names were mentioned & we ended up with a guy on loan who hasn't played since early December. Not only that he hasn't even trained with the squad yet so he's going to need a few weeks just to get up to speed. We really are in the brown stuff McClaren wants a reaction tomorrow if we get beat he might get a reaction from the fans he won't like.
-
McClaren is convinced he will get a reaction from his players against West Bromwich Albion at St James’ Park. The Magpies go into the game desperate for three points and in danger of being cut adrift from fellow relegation candidates. However, McClaren reckons his team are still capable of turning things around. The Newcastle head coach said: “We have shown that. Three months ago we had a couple of bad games, Leicester and Crystal Palace. “The reaction since then has been fantastic. We have really looked a good team. “We lost harshly at Watford. We have reacted before, now we have to do it again. “We can only do it in the dressing room and when the players cross that white line, we have to play as a team and fight. “That’s what the fans want to see.”
