  2. Theres a video on the Chronicle website of someone driving through town in the "rush hour" this morning & there's only a handful of cars on the road. Heres the page if someone can post the video https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-coronavirus-laws-schools-live-17815350
  3. China reported no new domestically transmitted cases in the country for the first time since the virus emerged in late December The lockdown in the Chinese city of Wuhan could be lifted once there are no new cases for 14 days, the China Daily newspaper reports Hokkaido, the worst-affected Japanese region, is lifting its state of emergency after officials said the spread of the virus appeared to be ending
  4. A bit of good news perhaps A French scientist says he has found an effective treatment for coronavirus with "spectacular results" claiming "we know how to cure the illness". The treatment, Plaquenil, is believed to be based on chloroquine, a drug normally used to treat malaria. Professor Didier Raoult, who initiated the project, pitted two groups of 12 coronavirus patients against each other in the tests. The first group of 12 patients received the treatment and the second was a control group. Raoult, said the results are encouraging, explaining: "We were able to observe that 90% of the patients who had not received Plaquenil were still carriers after six days, whereas when you used Plaquenil, after six days, there are only 25% of carriers left." Didier Raoult has claimed his "spectacular" results after having done tests on 24 patients show that "we know how to cure the illness". It's probably not true, but it ties in with what I'd read earlier in the week that a combination of a drug to treat AIDS & a drug that treats malaria was the way to combat this.virus
  5. When China announced plans to lock down Wuhan and most of the surrounding Hubei province, the news was greeted with astonishment around the world. Experts warned that it was an unprecedented and risky attempt to control the virus that might not work. Nearly two months later, with the daily number of new cases in China down to single digits last week, Wuhan is starting to emerge from two months of isolation, and this approach has become the model for other countries with outbreaks that appear to be sliding out of control. Now there is speculation the British government is preparing to implement something similar in London, the centre of the coronavirus outbreak in Britain. Preparations are underway to put London in a lockdown similar to EU countries if experts decide it is the only way to cut coronavirus deaths, Downing Street says. Prime minister Boris Johnson said he was not ruling out legal restrictions to prevent people flouting health advice to stay at home and keep away from public gatherings. Measures including the closure of most shops and forcing all but essential workers to remain at home are on the table – after an alarming rise in cases in the capital.
  6. Glastonbury Festival cancelled

  9. Right lads I know we've some people in the medical profession here. Would now be the time when we should be going total lockdown to stop this spreading. Obviously there's people out there that have probably got the virus but are showing no symptoms yet. But surely if we're all quarantined it will prevent it spreading further.
  10. I read about a greedy couple of bastards that had 8 × 4 pints of milk in their trolley there was nothing left. There was an old lay she asked them could she have one they said no. There was a guy there who's just bought a 4 pint & gave it to the old lady. Another old lady pushed to the floor because she was reaching for a pack of bog roll. Mrs T's going shopping later dog help anyone who tries any of that shit with old people & she sees or hears it.
  11. No wonder they're limiting certain items in supermarkets Master T went to Benton Asda last night he said people were pathetic. He said there was an assistant who came out with a cage of bog rolls to put out. Before he got half way up the aisle they'd emptied the cage. Now given what we know about this virus it doesnt give you the shits so why panic buy bog rolls. He also said there was no fresh fruit or veg left. It'll only be any good for a week, a fortnight at best then the majority will probably be thrown away pathetic
  12. Probably shut down by this Friday mate
  13. All elite football in England has been suspended until at least 3 April as a result of the spread of coronavirus. All Premier League games, EFL fixtures and matches in the FA Women's Super League and Women's Championship have been postponed. The Premier League said action would resume on 4 April "subject to medical advice and conditions at the time". The Football Association said England's games against Italy on 27 March and Denmark four days later are off. The EFL, which hopes to resume play a day earlier, said clubs were also advised to suspend "non-essential activities" such as "player appearances, training ground visits and fan meetings". The suspension comes on a day of widespread sporting postponements worldwide.

  19. This from The Mag their could be trouble ahead. After the match, Steve Bruce said that Allan Saint-Maximin had been left out because he had a hamstring problem, which then begged the question of why then would you risk him. Subsequently, on Monday, Steve Bruce then stated that after that 78th minute sub appearance, ASM now had hamstring and back issues, meaning he would almost certainly be missing West Brom. However, an exclusive from The Mail now reports that Allan Saint-Maximin was simply dropped on Saturday, they say that their source have told them that in actual fact the winger is fully fit and was available to start on Saturday, as well as tonight at the Hawthorns. The report says that the 22 year old’s future at Newcastle United is now in doubt, with both Crystal Palace and Wolves ‘monitoring developments after learning of the situation’ that has developed between Bruce and the player. The Mail say that Steve Bruce ‘wanted to field a team he could rely on against Burnley’ after having been less than impressed with Allan Saint-Maximin in recent training sessions.
