I think we're still in this one. We're a better side and that quality will tell as long as we keep our heads.
-
Expect a revenge tackle from Tiote which will get a yellow or worse at any moment now.
-
Tiote was sent off v. Sunderland for doing that. MacWhatever is going to walk away with nothing it seems.

Comedy defending.

Sunderland are one of the most dire sides seen in this division in some time. They are so utterly and comprehensively rubbish.

Never heard a co-commentator who has anything positive to say about NUFC. To a man they all hate us, especially since Sky and the like keep putting on either ex-mackems or ex-whoever we're playing to co-commentate our games. Wasn't wild about Cisse's celebration actually and I think it was telling that only two players ran over to celebrate with him. Usually last-gasp winners are greeted with scenes of insane jubilation - not so here. I feel a bit miserable nit-picking things like that after a good victory from a losing position but it worried me a bit. Good result against a difficult side to play, especially with some key players not really on form (Sissoko, Gouffran.) Yet another masterpiece from Cabaye too, what a player.

J69 has his own thing going on, he doesn't particularly care if others approve of/like it, and I think that's canny. I only wish he didn't have to keep constantly banging on about it. Different strokes for different folks, mate.

Couldn't agree more about that last bit. Being a Newcastle fan is a series of frustrations one after the other, but few as frustrating as watching Tiote shoot from ludicrous positions on command from the crowd. Some fucker has got to tell him to cut that out. Don't we have coaches who can have a word with him?

Visited when I was over this summer. Very beautiful place where me mam lived in her childhood. Definitely would consider it if I were maybe getting on a bit and wanted a quiet, classy place to live.

Shane Ferguson tearing apart international opposition
acrossthepond replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Wasting your breath Fish. CT has no clue whatsoever about football. He's just on here to be contrary and look for an argument, so stop quoting the silly cunt and slap him on ignore. Ferguson will never make it at NUFC and that's got nothing to do with Pardew, Jonas, Mike Ashley, the stars and moons, or the price of bread. He's not good enough. I wish him the best but Haidara is surely his replacement and he must know that. -
Very poor from Marveaux who contributed nothing. Tiote was shite as well and the less said about Shola the better. Turning point was the Gouffran injury, we looked strong while he was still on. Always expected to lose this one, we must take the positives and move on.
-
Pretty good but we always look vulnerable to pace and Spurs have it in bags and bags. Bale vs Debuchy is a particularly worrying one for me because Debuchy always wants to get forward and Bale ends up with the run of our right side. Any counter-attack looks like it could result in a goal for them. Cisse's been very isolated and we really needed another striker to properly complement him. Sissoko doing well in that role but you could see from their mix-up in the middle that it's not a natural partnership.

Fraser Forster or The Scottish Football Thread.
acrossthepond replied to mls1-CelticFC's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't understand. Is there some reason these muppets would retain such a burning hatred of Pardew and our club, or is it just because he called their club and their league what they are: a dire, one-horse-race competition dominated by bigotry, glory-hunting, and a poor standard of football? Good luck to Forster like but we clearly have the better player. P.S. The Moldovan champions also get a chance to qualify for the Champions League. -
Aye, that one was fucking class. Solano faked the layoff, causing the entire wall to flinch, then rolled it to Shearer who hit an absolute thunderbolt.
-
Fucking hell man, this club.
-
What a game. Season back on track I should think. Absolutely incredible stuff, top class goals on display from both sides.
-
Brilliant first half. Poor delivery from Jonas but apart from that he's done everything right. Gouffran and Sissoko look incredible, Cabaye dominating the game, back line solid, great assist by Santon. Only Cisse let us down with what should've been a simple finish. Let's not see another second-half collapse. Chelsea will probably come out swinging and we have to be ready for it.
-
Sinking feeling about this one. Is Marveaux on the bench?
-
Of course I only got home in time to watch the dire second half. Penalty was a dive for me like, thanks Dean. If they didn't get that we could've killed off their early attacks in the second half and controlled the game as we apparently did in the first. The Mbiwa sub was an utterly baffling one. Inexplicable is the right word. He looked completely lost in central midfield (as well he fucking should, as he's a centre-back!) and that was no way to give a class player his debut. Disgraceful fouling from Villa especially the one on Jonas which went unpunished (actually it was punished - Jonas got a yellow) but you have to give them credit for realising the hole they're in and picking it up. I wonder if that would ever have happened to us before the new signings came in. Certainly we saw no sign of it happening against Reading. Massively relieved to pick up the 3 points but there were definitely shaky moments tonight - too many for comfort.

Moussa Sissoko signs for Spurs for like £30m or WatEVA
acrossthepond replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
Brilliant signing, brilliant week. It looks like the penny has finally dropped for Fat Mike. This is just what we needed to lift spirits inside and outside the stadium. Even if some of these players don't fully live up to expectations, we're made a positive move at the time when it was needed most and it will be sure to improve morale.- 1745 replies

He was linked to us and Liverpool last summer iirc. He was from what, Heerenveen, or maybe Utrecht? Went to Portugal instead. Can't say I've ever seen him play but this isn't the first time we've heard the name (it's a pretty memorable name, too.)
