  1. It's what they do, standard Russian military doctrine since WW2, their army is built around artillery, if we can't have it, neither can you.
  2. he had the pace of Private Godfrey
  3. Who could have thought tyres could be interesting
  4. How lucky was Rees Mogg to get rid of his shares just before all this happened. Corrupt as fuck.
  5. Karkhiv population is 1.4 million, if only 5% of those are belligerent the invading force will be hugely outnumbered and in a defender friendly environment, there's a massive difference between training in urban warfare and applying that to subjugating a huge city, no matter how elite. Russia will very likely eventually take all of the cities but they'll do it by levelling any pockets of resistance by artillery (Standard Russian MO). Or they'll do it by siege, either way it's going to be horrific. :(:( Think about it - House to house, apartment block by apartment block, and within that, every room by every room, nightmare!!, if you have no qualms safer/quicker/easier to level buildings because you can't leave defenders in your rear and you'll have no idea who's a belligerent and who's a genuine civilian, even if you go building to building and forcibly evacuate people, where you going to send them, how are you going to police them/feed them etc. one way or another it's going to be a massive tragedy likely on a scale not seen since WW2 (Russia has no qualms so I fear the worst !!!)
  6. He should be sanctioned with the rest of them, but Government won't do it until the Russkies have had a chance to move their assets.
  7. Seems camera men/or phone filmers are the new snipers as far as tankies are concerned
  8. No idea, but his generals, and all the guys between the order and the button push, will do. I remember the cold war (for my sins) am totally chilled about the nuclear threat tbh. That said there's a big difference between tactical and strategic nuclear weapons. Even then can't see the order to fire a tactical nuke from a cannon/plane at Kyiv happening for same reasons.
  9. They will and they do have shitloads targeted, as will China, (and France and probably India) no-one trusts anyone.
  10. They won't unless everyone around him would have to be of the same "let's all crash and burn" view, (which I would bet, they don't) no-one would get out of it. He doesn't just push a button and it happens.
  11. There's a very long chain of command between Putin saying fire a nuke and the person who pushes the button, it would be a first strike, and I am in the school of thought that someone in that chain of command would stop it. (as it was stopped in the cold war by a Colonel - he may even have been a captain).
  12. This, also their kit is incredibly unreliable due to the corruption. AS an aside - I saw a discussion the other day on twitter between some US tank/armoured brigade blokes about how come in a LOT of the videos you see of the burnt out armoured personnel carriers, there was basically nothing left above the wheels. Someone said, that's the magnesium they use, reply was "inside in the fittings" response "no the armour shell" - cue lot's of shocked "you are fucking kidding me" comments and "welcome to 4000 degree invisible flames". Their kit is definitely not the best.
  13. You can grab what you like, but holding and pacifying it is another matter. Also his logistics for the army/troops are an utter shambles: Check the expiry date on these captured rations:
  14. Aim was roll in and install a puppet government, that'd only work if the army/police and machinery of state would roll over for any puppet government. Not going to happen. Could be Putin's Viet Nam, win the staged battles but lose the war. He's got the firepower to take the cities (but it'll be messy and tragic) but no way has he the numbers to subjugate or hold anything like the whole country.
  15. And that needs to come from within Russia, if done externally and Russian public opinion shifts or hardens, we're all fucked.
  16. There is no good outcome outside of toppling Putin somehow
  17. SU57, aye between 10-14 evidently. Doubt he'd use them, risk of loss and one getting "found" by NATO too great, also the NATO spyplanes watching Ukraine from Polish/Bulgarian airspace would collect loads of intel on them - radar signatures(tiny)/countermeasures etc.
  18. I believe they really thought (by they, I mean Putin) that Ukraine would keel over, or be rolled over, as they did in 2014/Crimea. Ukraine changed immeasurably since then and so initial Russian wheels have come off. The Russian military is extremely artillery centric, my concern (and it appears it's starting to happen) is as this goes on he'll start just levelling cities. How long we can stand by if/when that happens is the question. Whatever happens when Russia takes Kyiv etc. (it's sadly inevitable short of Putin being toppled) there's going to years of insurgency/guerilla warfare.
  19. Won't happen, that would make Polish airfields a legitimate target for Putin's Luftwaffe
  20. Asprilla is a total and utter Steven Seagal
