  1. You've only got to look at Rangers if you think appointing someone with the ability but no idea of the area/passion/tradition is enough to see how it can go very wrong very quickly That's why someone like Klinsman would be a good shout And for the record, the boy Clark shamed a few pro's last season on the pitch, so don't tell me he doesn't know anything about being a Premiership footballer
  2. He seemed happay about that for 15 years. Perhaps now his special cut is missing? You're one negative bastard aren't you The club is pushing me over the edge. I counted myself as one of the optimists a few years ago, or possibly even 12 months ago. This final farce has put paid to that. By the way, where has the "15 years" thing come from? It's called exaggeration for the supporting of a point Put it this way, can you remember with any detail how Big Sam got on at any other club?
  3. No, you've assumed that, saying that if he didn't respect him, he wouldn't have played well. I pointed out an example of where some players play well despite their relationship with the manager. I know we're both assuming, but I would have thought that Milner would have been pretty pissed off with how Roeder treated him last summer. Are you saying that there's no way at all he would have played well if that were the case? Of course he was pissed off but I think assuming that Roeder and Milner didn't talk about the situation, explain what went on and the reasons/pressures behind it, and put it all behind them for the good of the team, is the naive position. People have blithely assumed a lot about Roeder's abilities when it comes to talking to players, on the basis of what the players have or have not done.
  4. Im sorry but I dont see the difference, you are paying money to the club to go and see some games. Thats not a protest thats simply picking and choosing your matches. You cannot take the moral high ground with people when you arent prepared to follow your own actions through fully. Not at all. I don't blindly assume the club is going to do anything right any more and put money up up front. If I feel like going I do, I'm not giving Fred the security of knowing he his safe for yet another year. It's not a blind protest, but when I do go it is in full acceptance of the current situation, chairman manager and players. The difference being I have no presonceptions about what I'm going to see, and don't feel obliged to go on the back of lies and promises of 6 months back. The difference being that if we do well regardless of Fat Boy still being there then you will go along more often and maybe end up at every game, you therefore will end up putting more money into the clubs coffers than those who buy a season ticket.... If you said you were not going to another game until Fred had gone regardless of how well we play then I would respect that. At the moment all I see is a "fair weather fan" who wants to tell others not to go while still selecting the games that take his fancy ie Man U, Chelsea, Arse, Liverpool and washing the car during Sheff United, West Ham, Reading etc No offence meant on the fair weather fan bit but thats how it can be perceived. I never said I wasn't a fair weather fan. I said don't buy season tickets or shirts, the very things that require money without seeing a product. Have a look at Blackburn for a club who don't take their support for granted and have plenty of fair weather fans. Christ, look who they managed to con into taking Souness. The very loyalty of NUFC fans is what is holding this club back. There is no punishment for abject failure. On the basis of the last few years you really have to wonder what would have to happen before ST sales went down. Fred sees NUFC as a company and football as a product to be served up using his assets, and I'm very happy to oblige him in his business model. Shite product = no money. The fact I still identify myself as an NUFC supporter in public is loyalty enough for now.
  5. He'll have been paid off man, stop being so naive. If not, we'll hear all about what an honourable person he is, just like we were with Gullit. Maybe, but other managers weren't paid off or at least didn't take whatever "settlement" was offered. I find it hard to believe FFS would simply offer him the rest of his contract paid up, or even a gold handshake, and the option to resign, unless he was on peanuts and it only did have a few weeks to run. But anyway this getting off the point of this thread: DIE ROEDENT DIE!!!!!!! Well the point of it to me seems to be "what a nice chap he is", without any foundation. I wonder if James Milner thought he was a nice man when he was sent to Villa and then called back at the last minute? On his performances that doesn't stand up to examination. You wouldn't get that performance from a player who didn't respect you. You would if that player was desperate to just play? I doubt it. I know plenty of footballers who play well despite not liking the manager. Many of them were part of a team which was on its way to winning League one this season. Amazing their relief when he decided to move on to another team. IF NUFC had any players who put effort in irrespective of who the manager was then we would be in Europe right now. You said Milner did tbh I said Milner respected the manager and put effort in for him

  8. Then stop sitting on the sidelines giving out advice and do something about it, its easy for someone to sit faceless behind a computer and tell others to stop spending money, dont buy your season ticket etc while still doing it themselves. Set up a protest group and make yourself heard. Theres 100Mb of webspace here for you to get started, that is if you are serious. I haven't bought a shirt or a season ticket since SBR got the sack. A protest group would achieve nothing, it's clear there is no real support for doing the unthinkable. So are you saying you have not been to a match in three years? And (playing devils advocate here) can you prove thats not just down to personal circumstance or even laziness rather than as a protest? There is no use in protesting alone, set out your aims and build up a band of people all doing the same otherwise frankly, you're just another person who cant be arsed/ cant afford/ isnt allowed by the missus to go to the match. I've picked and chosen my matches since, although this might change next year with the credit cards, as tickets might not be so available. 9. Arsenal 2 - 1 Charlton 16 mins Charlton goalie couldn't close her legs fast enough

I'm not wasting my time organising a protest, that's just daft. It's not worth the time when it's clear there is no appetite for it. I bet if you polled the board now you would get 80% of ST's now renewing on the back of Roeder leaving. The days are long gone when fan opinion mattered anyway, anyone who still thinks fans mean anything to NUFC beyond whether they are spending money is daft
  11. Arsenal 0-1 Charlton 3 mins gone

  13. I dont think anyone is really dancing in the streets on this and yes its just another chapter in the NUFC saga however its the passing of (yet another) bad period. I am happy because for once Fat Boy has managed to do a sacking at the right time and (appears) to have a replacement lined up rather than letting Roedent spend 20million before sacking him and taking anyone available 5 weeks into the season. So Fred is given credit for hiring Glen for two years and firing him after one? On the justification that he won't waste £20m? What about the fact we now have a squad of players assembled under 3 managers, some of which most probably won't suit the requirements or style of the next manager, requiring more money to be spent anyway? And that includes the presumption that this time Fred appoints someone who won't waste £20m on crap And the alternative? Stop pretending that FF ever does anything right and stop supporting him by buying tickets / shirts etc etc So basically stop supporting newcaslte united because our chairman is shit? Why not? Do you think we are going in the right direction? Do you class being happy at 5 managers in 10 years and booing the team as 'support'?

  18. Who's ecstatic like? Read the first 8 pages of the Roeder's gone thread
  19. Apart from the extra £30m from TV? Unless Bolton have confirmed that money will be used for transfers I don't see your point? Well is it's not available for transfers whose fault is that? Who has spent all their money so that the TV windfall needs to be spent on debt relief or wages? I mean what kind of club would be daft enough to do that.....
  20. Eh? Well he's walked hasn't he? before he took over at bolton they were known as a relegation scrambler team and now look what hes done with them now got them into europe and just because the man is looking for a new challange doesnt necessarily mean "hes walked out". if we dont get the right man for the job this time we are going to be known as the next leeds united. So he has no appetite to take a club he knows inside out to the next level, yet somehow he would want to come in and change NUFC from top to bottom? It's taken him 15 years to realise he needs a new challenge? Coincidentally when the club reaches its highest level. That is not the mark of a man who likes challenges in life. He's the new Curbishley. And this is nothing like Leeds i would be happy if we get into europe again even if sam walks out as long as he gets us in the CL because after sir bobby no one has been abel to do any good with this club That's it? Just keep changing managers to reach Europe? No requirement for stability, planning, direction, philosophy, player development, squad building? We were in Europe just last year, it means nothing if the club is a shambles from top to bottom, with a self preserving fat wanker at the helm edt: If anything it is LEEDS who did anything to 'live the dream' and play champions league football
  21. I fail to see anything good about Roeder resigning other than the fact he has gone. THis gets a resounding 'meh' from me. We now seek our 5th manager in 10 years, and Fred has saved himself for another year after bowing to fan pressure. What exactly is there to be ecstatic about? "NUFC have managed to attract Sam Allardyce" I actually feel sick.
  22. Apart from the extra £30m from TV? He wanted £100M Must be off to Madrid then
