Sounds like panic attacks, but it shouldn't really be happening when you're chilling with a couple of cans at home Any other common denominator to explain them? It used to always happen when watching channel 5, although just recently it happened on ITV

Cars you can get for less money, but not "off the shelf ones", yet anyway (although within 6 months). So basically, cars you can't buy or can't beat the Veyron.... You buy them (or you pay for them), but not out of a catalogue or show room. You'd need a bit of initiative and boldness though so I can see why you'd be having a problem with the concept. Tell me exactly which one you would buy and from where, and what modifications to make, to produce a road legal car (2 doors and a roof, not a speedster or drag racer) that will outperform the Veyron, specifically on top speed. And then point out to me where I can get this car insured and warranty repaired when I mow down a pregnant lady... Heh as I said complete lack of initiative (and boldess "warranty" ) Give me the cash and I’ll do it though (but you’ll not get either back). Insurance is going to be expensive and you’re going to have to go somewhere other than Hastings Direct I’m afraid. There are plenty of speciality insurers out there though, won’t be cheap however, but then nothing in that bracket is (although bizarrely it can be cheaper than it “should” be because such specialist cars are view as less of a risk proportionally to some barried up shed). Also the thing you should know before driving anything with any real power (hell before even riding a bike) is that you drive to the conditions, both physical and environmental, that way you DON'T mow down a pregnant woman or anyone else. That’s not this “engineering” malarkey that’s just being sensible. The difference being, I can go out right now and buy a Veyron and get it insured, because it's a real car with list price and a brochure and everything Do you give up now or what?

Legitimate tactic. Rule 24.3 sub-section C if I recall correctly

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6465695.stm School bans 'unsafe' knotted ties Children not wearing clip-on ties will be sent home A school in Greater Manchester has banned its pupils from wearing knotted ties because it says they could pose a safety risk. Clip-on ties, like those worn by police officers, are regulation uniform at Bramhall High School in Stockport. Head teacher John Peckham said the ties looked smarter on pupils, as well as preventing potential accidents. The Campaign for Real Education said the school's decision was "health and safety gone mad". Bramhall High's uniform shop has been selling clip-on ties for more than a year to phase in the new rules. Children have worn school ties for decades and I have never heard of an accident in all that time Nick Seaton Campaign for Real Education Mr Peckham said: "Obviously there is a health and safety element. "Pupils can take precautions during technical lessons where there is machinery, but it is the unexpected factors such as running and having their ties pulled that could be a problem. "We also feel it is smarter because older children will not wear the ties in a casual way. This is in line with places like Marks and Spencer, the police and the armed forces." The tie rule will be strictly enforced from September with loose tie offenders sent home. Stockport Council said the decision was taken by the school. Nick Seaton, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, said the decision was inexplicable. "It seems like another instance of political correctness and health and safety gone mad. "Children have worn school ties for decades and I have never heard of an accident in all that time."

I wonder if there is a compensation scheme for the time wasted reading bad jokes?

Materialism: The "What have you bought?" Thread
Super_Steve_Howey replied to Tooj's topic in General Chat
Nice, out of interest how much did you pay? £74.99 with postage from Natterjacks.com only place I could find em in my size <_< Think I got those for fifty quid a while back. I've had to chuck em cos they've deformed my feet though. Pretty sure I saw them for £50 in a bogstandard sports shop a few weeks back Tried em on and didn't like them, plus they weren't that comfy -
The lasty few times I've settled down to a few cans at home, I gradually develop a tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, dizzyness and what I guess are slight anxiety episodes What's wrong wit me Nurse Cat?

At the end of the day, isn't this a bit more to do with the feelgood factor? He's only been in the job for a few months. Incidentaly, look at who they had to beat to win the cup: Kilmarnock St Johnson Hearts Gretna Peterhead only Hearts are a credible opponent, and they are in total meltdown I'm more interested to know why Tigana was such a failure at Fulham

Don't get me wrong, there might be some truth in the warming theory, what I can't fathom is the leap to the catastrophic concequences causing the worst death tolls in history, worse than any of the other threats I've mentioned, requiring it to be made number one priority for every man and his dog. Christ, if we're talking a human extinction threat, how much is being spent on trajectory prediction of asteroids?

As I said keep buying Max Power, maybe when you pass your test you can have a real car (or even a motorbike!) too. Don't get upset now that you realise you were wrong About what exactly? About this being a run of the mill fast car that that is just being over-hyped by the media and that can be bettered by numerous cheaper cars Again see above, although I wouldn't exactly call it "run of the mill". And again it's amazing what you can put together in a small build context, my own car would have cost 4-5 times as much to buy that performance in an off the shelf package (or even just pre-built) and at least 5 to who know how much to have got it from a trendy "label". And I'm sure others would paint it exactly how you wanted it as well. What a bizzare and totally innaccurate linear extrapolation

"Don't really fully understand what he is saying, but it don't look good boss." This seems to be the prevailing opinion when it comes to the dangers of global warming. From that piece: "Speaking before a lecture to the Institution of Chemical Engineers, Prof Lovelock repeated the prediction, made in his recent book The Revenge of Gaia, that global warming will kill billions of people this century. He said the Earth was undergoing a rapid transition that could boost temperatures by 8C, making large parts of the surface uninhabitable and food production impossible. A hotter planet might be able to support less than a tenth of its 6bn population." As far as I know, there hasn't been a climate model that has survived more than 10 years

Because you're a poser I guess, to be frank for less cash you could buy something that out performs it in every way possible. But it’s like having a shirt with the “right” label on it. It's still only newsworthy (or should be) because they guy was driving like a moron however (still bet he's not charged though). Really? What do you have in mind? Seconded.... This should be interesting There's loads out there from small performance car manufactures (the plethore probably will too), they are expensive still of course, but nothing like as expensive as the Veyron But if labels blind you (as they seem to a lot in here) then believe what you want. The Veyron is unsurpassed, there is nothing you can buy to match it. The cost is irrelevant, Buggati actually make something like a 500% loss on each car. It is built for what it is, and for the exercise of building it, not to sell to posers or to make money, hence why I said if you went in demanding your own colours they would tell you to fuck off. I don't believe that for a second, it's just the usual media cuming in their pants hype (bought by the people that buy labels as usual - you do realise released figures are often up to 10% inflated by manufacturers?), it's a very, very nice car and technically very strong, but even so. And again for that much cash I'd be building something like this myself. which bit? I think people might not just take a manufacturer on their word when they claim the world production speed record either you're on the wind up or really don't understand engineering If you're talking about offical record attempts then yes, but that's not what was posted above. It's well known (and always has been) about how figures are fudged, both directly nudged up and even in preping demo cars in ways not used in production models. I'm no expert though, but I do have some idea about engineering, I've built and own a 5.0L 270BHP at the wheels mostly race specced classic sports car..... have you? I conclude you were on the wind up then Aye I was pretty sure you hadn't. (keep buying Max Power though ) I have enough of a grasp to be able to stand by my posts
