Seriously, we (the fans) have to stop thinking we shouldn't sign certain quality players simply because the manager is not up to managing them well. I know that's not necessarily what you were saying, but it is a mentality which is becoming common. Joaquin is a quality player, whoever is managing him - if he wants to come, we should pull out all the stops regardless who's in charge...
-
err.... reminded you who won the ashes?? Fucking hell, you got decorations and multiple Merry Xmas threads, what more do you want??
-
I'm not suggesting that Souness is a good manager who will get the best out of players - far from it. It's just that in order for this club to improve, we need to sign better players and that to suggest that he would be 'wasted' here is a negative response IMO. I sincerely hope that Souness is not here next season and hope that his replacement will be successful at getting the best from his players. If that's the case then having Joaquin on the payroll and a manager who can get the best from him gets the mouth watering...

I was referring to the French donkey who stands like a statue as the ball bounces and goes over his head, every fucking time. 71490 no no. you are wrong, according to Souness he did extensive research and decided Boumsong is a quality player and a proper player, and worth 8m quid of the clubs money. So thats it, because Souness said so, and he knows best, his track record shows he knows what he is doing 71494 To be absolutely fair, he became a target of the club (and there was an attempt to sign him) just before SBR was given the boot. Now I don't know for certain, but I'm willing to bet that this is a player targetted by Freddie Shepherd (through a club scout who worked under both managers) rather than Graeme Souness.

Looking more optimisitically, I think he'd greatly improve us... If we refrained from signing anyone because we feel he might be 'wasted' we'd sign no-one. We start improving the squad, we'll start improving the results and position...

Heard rumours from several non-NUFC related sources without me having to ask that these stories going round linking us with Joaquin carry quite a bit of foundation and that he is actually quite keen due to him being best mates with a certain Albert Luque.... Of course it means nowt, but it'd be nice to look back on this if he did sign...

Thanks peeps - but Finley not OK. Coughing got worse yesterday and this morning and he was still having ridiculously high temperatures so we took no chances and took him to hospital today. They did some obs and admitted him straight away. I later found out that they recorded his temperature at 39.4°C! They suspected Pneumonia initially but have since ruled that out. They think he's got Bronchiolitis which they say in a 9 week old who has had no jabs can be pretty dangerous but they're saying that the fever is not usually a symptom of it so they're a bit baffled. Being kept in to have blood tests - poor mite has a cannular in his hand and the whole arm in a splint to make sure he doesn't yank it out. Christmas has kinda paled into insignificance although we've tried to keep it special for the elder one. Cheers for the kind words from you all - means a lot...

Becoming a bit of a catchphrase of yours!

Fucking hell Leazes, you've surpassed yourself... A thread about Luque and inside two posts you've managed to reference Bellamy, Robert and Souness Alan Nixon may be an 'old hander who has for years has consistently provided arguably the most prominent and correct transfer market information' but this time he's talking complete and utter tosh! It's not possible for Luque to be sold this season - transfer legislation prevents it!
-
Nah, he has a stinking cold and a hacking cough so it's a pre-caution more than anything but because he's 9 weeks old and has not yet had any jabs, they wanted to keep an eye on him. Thankfully they let us go about 6pm otherwise it could have been an overnight stay..

Having spent the day at A&E with Finley having breathing difficulties, I've just finished wrapping all the kids pressies and sticking them under the tree and are all set for tomorrow. Happy Christmas to everyone on here - hope you all have a decent break and lets hope that 2006 brings good fortune to all. * - to the contingent from N-O who will undoubtedly read this, ignore the bit about me sticking presents under the tree - Santa will be doing it later!

I thought this was gonna be a thread about the dog from Neighbours...

Ian Wright - single-handedly responsible for why the match analysis can no longer take place in the stadium itself - anyone who saw England v Argentina in 1998 will know why.... Agree, he's a total twat!

Bottle of wine under the desk probably

Saw AO and John Gibson on that football show last night, waffling on about the demise of The Pink and recent history of reporting on NUFC. Gibson was telling it how it is, but why does he remind me of something off Lord of The Rings?? 70998 Don't mind Gibson but Oliver is a prize prick, even for a journalist. 71038 Reckons he's the 'voice of the fans' does he not?

Take it his intended target isn't gonna happen then? I pray to god Shearer doesn't go on another year - his best days are behind him and we need to look to the future, not the past...
-
Yep, the BBC are reporting it to... Good luck to him, I think he'll need it working with Lowe and Woodward.

Merry Christmas to all......

I can better that.... I finished Tuesday but have been 'on call' for the last 2 days (and also tomorrow) earning an extra £50 a day for the privilege and will be doing it for 3 days next week as well. So basically, I'm getting paid £300 for having a phone switched on. Should I get called and need to do something, they're paying me at double rate for the pleasure!

I wasn't aware she took a dump like. And still won as well, impressive stuff. 70799 She didn't, she had a piss....

He split his head open against Charlton actually. A mate of my Dad used to be a photographer for the Chronicle and used to do the Newcastle matches and from time to time, gave me some of the prints. I've still got them and one of them is of Pingel being walked off the pitch with blood pouring out of his head. The other team is Charlton. Liverpool was the game when he scored that goal with the back of his head!

Liam O'Brien? 70891 Indeedy

Anyone read the quote from him today whinging about the 'ridiculous christmas calendar' which is likely to increase the risk of injuries?? Fuck me gently, he's making up excuses in advance now

Does that not only apply to transfers, so any loan would be okay?? I don't think that he will be moving in January. 70594 Not sure about a loan, but going by the extracts from the article below, I presume they were talking about a permanent move: Which certainly isn't possible. Poor journalism tbh - he'll be applying for a job at N-O next
