1. Who said I'm taking it lightly? Papa, I'm not saying it's not a despicable crime, just that it's not comparable to murder at all. Murder is a completely different ball park to everything else. The fundemental difference is that victims of any other crime have a chance to rebuild their lives. Simple really. LM in twisting words SHOCKER 148543 I agree its not identical to murder, but for me its up there as the sort of crime that requires extremely severe punishments (and i mean by my standards not severe by the standards of the wankers who run this country and the judges who work for them!) as it can completely ruin lives, even if it doesn't end them.
2. This tournament is there for the taking for quite a few teams if they hit peak form as there doesn't (on early evidence) look to be anything amazing and every defnce i've seen so far looks beatable and has problems. From England's point of view if Cole and Neville get back to full match fitness, we have a good defensive base to build on and depending on hat happens to Rooney and Owen plus the form of Gerrard/Lampard we have the goals to take advanatage of a good defence. But we'll know more after everybody has played their 3 group games, maybe somebody will step up and really look the part.
3. Its not far off, but apparently its hilarious to you. Its a disgusting and dispicable crime which far too many men like you don't take seriously at all but (to put it bluntly), would do, if some big bloke came and did it to you and you found out exacly how horrific it could be.
4. I mentioned it on another thread, he's getting far worse with his pointless laughing at things that aren't remotely funny!
5. I've noticed that Motson is doing his stupid laugh at things that aren't remotely funny, more at this tournament than ever before. Sometimes at what his co-comentator says, sometimes at something he's said himself!
6. Yes, unless you're Keegan, in which case he didn't elbow him at all
7. The diving and histrionics spoils their football for me. 148441 And the negative, defensive, kill the game attitude they usually exhibit. As somebody earlier in the thread said, for me its the same as club football, i don't support two teams, i support one and thats it. So if England don't win i'd prefer a team who'd impressed me with their football and attitude to win it. But invariably with me it would be a case of who i didn't want to win a game or the cup itself based on how much i dislike them. So if some team had really annoyed me i'd be wanting their opponents to win, or say if a team has a player who is a complete cnut (eg. Cahill for the aussies) that may tip the balance in who i want to win a match!
8. Something happened because he fell to the ground with a shout but nobody said anything.
9. To be fair its a good combination, the powerful dominant CB and the intelligent one reading the game and organising! Its why Bramble excells alongside a Woodgate style defender, though Titus does have more to offer than the "Brick shithouse" type player"
10. Hopefully he'll break it again, before he gets the chance to go through his repetoire of spitting, elbowing diving etc. 148008 Don't forget stamping. 148012 And hitting Nobby (i think) in the face twice in succession, not that he warrented a red card for that apparently!
11. Hopefully he'll break it again, before he gets the chance to go through his repetoire of spitting, elbowing diving etc.
12. With these balls i think we're going to see a lot of swerving long range shots and a few pissed off keepers!
13. Good game so far. Ghana causing the Italians some problems, but also vulnerable at the back, epsecially with their keeper likely to come flying out and miss the ball completely at any time.
14. Most likely bollocks but if he did go looking for a "chat" with Sven he would have been completely right to.
15. Yeah, basically Sven in his infinite lack of wisdom wen to the world cup with: Rooney who may not have kicked a ball or may at any moment get crocked again Owen who could easilly get injured and who isn't yet match fit, so lets keep subbing him! Crouch who is still unproven at international level despite soem recent form Walcott who is unproven at premierhip level and who he has never seen But apart from 2 players at risk of being crocked, two unproven and Rooney always at risk of suspension if he manages to stay fit you can see what Sven is thinking, i mean you have got to find a way to squeeze Jenas in there, thats vital!
16. And even worse that a man of Bobby's footy knowledge not only needed to see him in training but in several matches as well before reaising he wasn't a footballer at all! And the first tip off should have been that a 2nd or 3rd division club had rejected him before we gave him a shot!
17. Like you say we'll grow into the tournament, I don't think you'll see a worse English performance in this World Cup. We all know how effective England can be when they are firing on all cylinders and against paraguay I don't think we'd even turned the engine over... Argies were good and if they're allowed time to pick their passes they can hurt us, but they were terrified of pace and trickery, hopefully by the time we meet, we'll have Owen, Rooney at full pace and Lennon and Walcott and Cole playing to their best. 147544 England do tend to grow as it goes on and as somebody said earlier in the thread we have a tendency to reflect our oppositon for some reason so if they're poor, theres a chance we won't be at our best. The worry will remain though that against the very best teams in quarters, semis or final we can't afford to be shite in the second and we will be done by sven's lack of ability to change matches or just outright stupid substituitions. But with games played away from that kind of heat (made worse by fifa's idiots not allowing players as much water as they wanted) we will definitely be better.
18. Did come up with a class bit of refereeing though. The Serbia player did the usual and disgraceful waving of an imaginary card demanding a booking, so the ref booked him! If all refs had the brains and balls to do this every time they were surrounded by players demanding the other teams players are booked and sent off it would be killed off in no time. As soon as a player or players start telling you what to do or swearing/shouting at you, book every last one of them and tell them to fuck off, its not hard and refs have the authority to do it.
19. Agree completely! We've just won the first game and yet everyone will be down beat because we can see the very genuine risk that Sven will fuck up the best chance we have had of winning in god knows how long. Even putting aside his inept tactics and ludicrous substitutions we have the ever present risk that Rooney doesn't make it, makes it but struggles or gets a kick and is out, combined with the risk of Owen getting injured at anytime and we suddenly find ourselves with Crouch and an unproven kid or playing midfielders out of position. I actually had no problem with Wallcott going, he's an exciting talent and his pace coming off the bench could prove useful, but i would have Defoe in my squad not Jenas in which case Wallcott's inclusion is fine. But Sven being the negative manager he is brings a pointless midfielder instead of the extra striker we need. I'm just hoping the player do it inspite of him which they could yet do. Or the less likely option he secretly admits to himself he fucked up and that he has to change his ways, but just doesn't admit it publically, but i won't hold my breath.
20. In some column i was reading the journalist said something like: "Do other people sometimes see McClaren sat next to Sven and think, we didn't did we!!!" You just have to hope he doesn't follow Svens views on tactics, substiuions and the belief that you don't have to do anything in the second half of matches!
21. Funny isn't it how us mere mortals can understand the problems with taking off your main striker (who needs time on the pitch) and leaving Crouch totally isolated with no use for his flick ons and can see the midfield struggling as they have no outlet and the whole team gets put under pressure, but what do we know.
22. Sorry i was completely wrong, Sven just said when he took Owen off it was better and that it was to keep the ball better. I must have imagined everything i saw, unless Sven is just talking utter bullshit of course! He better not waste this chance we have of winning the competetion with any more crap like this.
23. We may have a squad who are definitely capable of winnign the world cup, but they're going to be up against it with Sven in charge. How many times will we see a second half where we drop of and ask the other team to dominate, how many times will he make a complete balls up of substitutions and tactics. Owen needs match fitness and he takes him off after 55 mins, stupid. We're playing well enough using the tactic of Crouch and OWen up front, he changes it and we fall to pieces. He took away the main uses of crouch, left us with nothing up front inviting pressure onto us and so the midfield had no options. The man is an idiot at times. And when he does foolishly decide to take of Owen he doesn't have the brains to bring on a striker and keep things as they are, of course part of that is his own stupidity in not bringing Defoe instead bringing another midfilder because he' such a negative bastard!
24. Its really funny that fergie is getting what he's deserved for years and is really pissed off, and that manu fans will be as well...but aside from my wanting Rooney to play for us i think Fergie and manu are actually totally in the right, i just don't care! But it is ludicrous that clubs pay millions for a player, pay their wages, their insurance, medical bills and whatever, yet the country can come along take them against your wishes, and if they get injured its the club who suffer and who's fans are pissed off.
25. It was to be expected though! Tbh he was smiling and i can't imagine he would have if he'd been told his world cup was over before it began!
