If you are feeble enough to be overpowered by Rameneresh Sarwan then you deserve everything you get tbh. Oh and Papa - I take your point about the pitches, but I still think it's irrelevent. We should have wiped the floor with Sri Lanka wherever we played, and your usual anti-authority rant should instead be directed at the ineptitude of the England team for resting on their laurels of last summer (despite what they all say) and not giving the cheat and his team a damn good thrashing. 146212 I think we should have won the series like you, but had we got the pitches right we would have won the series and had the confidence of a series win which alwasy helps, rather than a drawn series and morale down at a missed opportunity, so its never irrelivent. And even if they have slightly rested on their laurels, they've also been without most of their ashes bowling attack, their captain and for a while their form batsman in Trescothic when he disappeared for whatever reason. They are introducing new young players into the lineup who are finding their feet at test level, something which can take time and the plan will be to be back at fullstrenght, fitness and form by the time the ashes come round again, with hoefully a series win leading into them.

I think the time has come for the country to accept and bring in the ruling that ALL managerial appointments have to fulfill only one criteria: That John Barnwell says they're ok Anytime a club wishes to appoint a manager or coach they have to take their case before the great and all important John Barnwell and beg, nay beseech his holiness for the permission to employ their choice as manager. And after due consideration the great man himself will either grant their petition or cast them unto hell for abominations against the might of the LMA Or alternatively people could tell the over inflated cunt to shut up and realise he has all the power and importance of a heap of shit and nobody cares what he thinks.

As long as they don't cheat. 146067 So you mean they can't straighten it at the point of release?

Jumping to conclusions there, lets have a (flag) poll to decide? -
And updated writing and directing one would hope! Really we need a remake of 'Escape to victory' if we're doing footy films! Who would be in the lineup this time, players who are either nearly finished or already finished by now??? Maybe Big Al could show is acting talents once more! Maradonna instead of Ardiles or Pele scoring a handball instead of overhead kick? Who would play the Stalone role, probably Vin Diesel!

I like the happy little chap 146029 Murali? He's class tbh and he's not a cheat. 146033 Bollocks, the ICC bottled it. It's a chuck but he's been given special dispensation on the grounds of deformity or such nonsense. If he can't bowl properly then he can't bowl. Tough shit. Burn him. 146043 I actually quite like him, but this is what i've always said. Its either a chuck or it isn't (and i don't know enough to say for sure). The fact that somebody chucks by choice or because they can't help it physically is entirely irrelivent with regards to the rules and the batsmen having to face illegal deliveries. So if he's allowed to bowl illegally because of a deformity then thats bollocks to be honest. If its not a chuck then theres no problem.

I think Oz will be fine for our bowlers, don't know enough about it as regards swining, but the aussies will have pitches that fast bowlers can use as well as Warne of course. But the home advantage thing is so basic and obvious i can't believe we do it every time. Its a totally seperate issue from whether we should have beaten them or not, which was why i made the point without ever mentioning who should have won. We should have and indeed would have won but for a spell of truly abysmal fielding which cost us a 2-1 series win. Now ideally we would have got a 2-0 or 3-0 series win, but with 3 first choice bowlers absent from the ashes winning team and the captain as well as Freddie carrying an ankle injury i'd have been happy enough with a 2-1 series win. But theres obviously work to be done on the batting anf fielding, but also we need some of those players back and fit. Whatever we did in this and the next series i'd make the aussies favourites for the ahses, they have been give a kick up the arse by England and look to be back to their best and with a few new players added are flying and looking for revenge. Plus they will be at home (with pitched dictated by their management no doubt) and so they are strong favoutites.

That is funny though you have to be fair! Anyway as stated on this thread i'm amazed and somewhat disappointed to learn "The Hoff" won't be opening the whole tournament with one of his classics!

Was that a clip they used on fantasy football legaue, i remember the "word clamclamclaadia as if it were yesterday!!! 146018 The obscure reference recognition award '06 goes to Papa Lazaru. 146023 It was great, he started speaking something in english and then it was as if they switched his brain off and he ended by saying clamclamclaadia! And yet it is the most salient and well observed point i've heard him or his UEFA counterpart make by a long distance!

We definitely need 2 strikers and we do need some more attacking options from midfield but we also really need a LB and if Boom is hopefully shifted then we need another CB as well. And with Clark nearly retired and Faye plus Butt hopefully being shifted, with doubt over Bowyer and other players being injury prone we need another central midfielder as well.

Was that a clip they used on fantasy football legaue, i remember the "word clamclamclaadia as if it were yesterday!!! As for the world cup i think in your first game you have to be very careful because the early games will see the refs implementing whatever new obsession fifa has and you will get a fair few yellow and red cards shown. As the tournament goes on it will probably settle down a bit, but you do wonder how many people will be penalised for jumping with their arms up whether they elbow somebody or not.

Bollocks tbh. We could and should have whitewashed Sri Lanka, who are frankly a poor test side, especially away from home. We drew the series thanks to some awful batting and worse fielding. 145177 Not bollocks tbh. We should have won the second test but the fielding was shite, but whilst the batting wasn't great in the final test it would have been enough on a wicket made for pace not Muri. The fact is i said they are more or less a one man team, but that one man (whether its legal or illegal) is at times unplayable and ha broken all records for bowlign in cricket. So in your own country you do not play ona wicket suited to him, you play on one suited to your own attack. 145607 Still bollocks tbh. If we want to be the best in the world (which, after crushing Australia last year, we should be) then we should wiping the floor with Sri Lanka no matter where we play. Australia beat them in Sri Lanka a few years ago FFS. 145910 That has nothing to do with my post which stated we should prepare pitches to suit our attack and not the oppositions, just as every other country in the world does. I at no time mentioned being the best in the world and who we should and shouldn't be beating. Anyway here's an article from somebody with more cricketing knowledge and experience than me or you:

I saw a clip of the interview and he was talked about how players should be jumping with their arms at their sides not like this (then he did the gensture of a sideways pointing elbow). I know blatter is and always has been a braindead, mornic waste of space, but is he seriously suggesting players will be at risk of being carded if they lift thier arms when they jump! How many people has he actually seen jump with their arms stuck to their sides!!!
-
Barnwell should just save everyone the time and effort of reading what he comes out with by making a one off statement of: "Please somebody pretend i'm important and not some jumped up little arsehole who nobody likes or listens to and has actually got no power whatsoever of any consequence!" He could then use this repeatedly as its the entire gist of everything he ever says.

The Mayfair was the king of venues, sadly missed. What do the hot and heavy brigade do now after Trillians shuts? 145064 Isn't the Academy now the late night home of rock? 145066 Fridat night at the academy and friday + saturday at legends for rock nights. Or at least it was friday and saturday, i assume its still both nights. As for heavy metal, if you look into it it can be split into about a hundred different sub genres, but people who hate it are invariably referring to thrash/death/black metal and sub genres that have the most indecipherable growling and really fast and/or heavy guitars. Whereas alot of metal is nothing like that, and even within those sub genres there will be massive variety should you listen to enough of it. And i saw it mentioned earlier in the thread about the look, but who gives a toss what people look like? The music is all that matters because the sort of people who judge music on appearance rather than techinical ability etc. are like girls who base their musical taste on which boybands they fancy and that has never been a reason to like or dislike a band! 145107 Why have a "look" then if it's not important? Why do people feel the need to conform to a stereotype? Come on man. Leggings, long hair and makeup on a man! It's not right! 145161 I imagine the look is as you say to conform to a stereotype or to appeal to certain fans, generate hype, get more money and publicity. Whatever it is i'm saying i don't care as long as the music is good, if it isn't then they're a bunch of badly dressed people playing shite music! You usually find though the bands are often having alaugh or doign these things without ever being serious, but the fans are serious and indeed sometimes insane. As shown with the black meta fans burning churches etc.!!! And i agree with you Leggings, long hair and makeup on a man is never a good look! But tbh half the stuff i have in my collection that has been downloaded i have no idea what the people look like on stage or off it!

See boro are going to ask for permission to employ Southgate even though he doesn't have the uefa coaching badge. Hope they get it, because firstly i don't see him doing anything earth shattering there, and secondly it will really piss of the jobsworth nobodies at the LMA all over again, and that is always a good thing.

Yes, yet another embarassing and disgracefull incident under Souness' management. Shall we get Taylor straight into an operation to completely fix his shoulder and have him back after one long lay off...no we'll make him have one long lay off with no op, come back, fuck his shoulder again because he plays centrehalf in a contact sport and we know its going to pop out its socket again and then make him have the op and yet another long lay off! They basically cost a young lad most of his season, put him through far more pain and recovery than was ever needed and it was shocking.

Just watched the "highlights" of the final days play at Trent Bridge and you have to ask the obvious question. Would any country in cricket other than England have done what we did. They knew Sri Lanka are bordering on being a 1 man team with Murilitheran, so why on earth would you play at Trent Bridge to suit him. Everyone else would have chosen the 3 grounds that were going to turn the least and would favour our pace and swing bolwers, whereas on a turning wicket against Muri we were never going to chase down a big 4th innings total!

Even if any of that were remotely true which it won't be, he loses any right to be defended when he starts smacking lasses in the face and booting people when they're down. Also he smacks an innocent bystander in the face for good measure which shows you his true character. The fact that he then gets knocked stone cold by one punch from an old bloke is class and the fact that everyone who knows this piece of shit will likely see it is even better.

If you can get a good player on the cheap when you have our limited funds and squad lacking depth you should go for it. Though it remains to be seen whether we are in for him, whether city will accept a cut price fee and whether any other clubs may come in and hike the price back up, so i'll not expect it to happen!

Shit, just checked my diary and I have a meeting on the afternoon of the 15th so will struggle to see much of that game and on the 20th I have to be present at a convention in the SECC and will be struggling to get home for that too. 144745 Don't worry you may miss them but you can wear your Paraguay and Sweden shirts under your work clothes and still feel part of it all!

Really? Then it still rather shows the incompetence of the city council than any malicious intent (only if a xenophobe employee was behind it). As Toonraider said, they wouldn't get away with it. 144703 Yeah i saw it on SSN and they showed all the flags of other counties and that there was no English one. They then interviewed some random german bloke in the street who laughed about it. Thought it was quite funny myself whether deliebrate or not and i suspect not deliberate rather mere coincidnece or more a joke by some German rather than hating the English!
