  1. It was brilliantly done, literally one minute you were laughing as normal with that series and suddenly it was really upsetting and you realised it wasn't a joke anymore. Mind they always liked a dark ending! They pretty much all died in the first one, all killed by Hugh Laurie in the second one and in the 3rd the prince Regent is killed and Blackadder takes over with his mad father!
  2. Owen will be fit for the opener surely? And is Taylor not supposed to be back to play ahead of Ramage.
  3. I saw that, started chucking daft things at each other, then got steadilly more aggressive with what they were doing, then started firing guns at each other and finally they mounted machine guns on the planes. What was impressive was they had the gun in synch with the propellor blades so the bullets fired between them as they rotated! Aye, I still can't get my head around that last bit even though I knew about it before seeing it on QI. Its amazing really, how they'd think of it and carry it out! I just loved the idea of them initially waving to each other and then the reaction when the first person chucked something instead! Or maybe it started with sticking two fingers up! That's the thing about the Great War. It started off as people thinking they'd shoot a few Jerrys and be home for Christmas. Fuor years later and they were still up to their knees in their own shit in a trench in Belgium. What a fucking waste. Its one of many reasons why Blackadder Goes Forth is so great, its not just hilarious, its actually in some ways quite realistic and shows how ludicrous the whole thing was. Stephen Fry as Melchett will not be far away at all from some of the complete dicks in charge back then!

  5. And the Brian Johnson one with "Botham struggling to get his leg over" or similar!

  8. Three French hens, two Turtle doves... Three fullbacks, two centrehalves and a flair player in the middle! Or something like that. Just please lets get at least 1 LB and a CB
  9. How many players do you think we need in, Papa? Really i'd want 2 left backs, a right back, a centreback and some sort of creative/flair type player. But as i said a LB and CB has to be the very minimum he gets before the start of the season.
  10. It seems obvious from what Sam has been saying that we've missed out on a few because of the takeover, because of deals that couldn't be taken through to a conclusion and maybe the odd rejection. The Marseille player turned down singing for us as we know and we lost Haim to Chelski which ws annoying. Also it was ina the papers today, can't remember where possibly the chronicle that another CB had turned us down over the last day or two. I suspect Big Sam is working his arse off trying to get the players in, but not having any luck so far and we really need them. As an absolute minimum we have to get a LB and CB in an thats far from all that's needed.
  11. I don't think testimonials are the big deals they were years ago Noelie, not with the astronomical wages they pick up now. And beside how many would turn up for a Dyer testimonial? Signing on fee at West Ham would be bigger than the gate money for his testimonial. And i doubt he'd get a great reception from the ones who did go to his testimonial!
  12. I suppose one thing to remember is on top of the signings, we also have Owen and Ameobi as basically new players as they didn't really feature last year and also Zog might as well not have played last season so he could be like another new player. And if Big Sam works his magic with Luque that's another potential new player we didn't really see last year. None of that really helps the defence though!
  13. Defintiely need some defenders in asap, and i would have thought it wise to go and steal Baines from the mackems unless we very definitely have somebody else lined up. And if Dyer is going to leave then we need another player in to replace him, so we have to get moving! Throw in the injuries and the edge is taken off the previous optimisim, but i'm still far, far happier than i was before.
  14. She does seem to be highly rated, though i haven't seen enough of her to comment. I think she has her own show that is in the vein of Curb Your Enthusisasm as well, soemthing like that.
  15. Perhaps they all need to take note of what you wore for the 5-a-side last year PapaL Exactly, i've never had a broken metatarsal! Sadly i have to announce i will be wearing normal footwear for the upcoming game! Agree with the person that said he would kick start our peformances this season. You could tell Big Sam was expecting him to be fired up from the off and carry the rest with him and i'd alwaysf elt that him and having a fully fit Owen was going to play a big part in us getting off to a very good start!
  16. Its noticeable that players never used to break metatarsals, and back in the day the game was a lot tougher and people got a good kicking. It must be something to do with the modern lightweight boots they wear not offering enough protection.
  17. This is the sort of injury that's really annoying. Over time Big Sam and all his methods can reduce the avoidable injuries and get the players fitter and better conditioned, but there is absolutely fuck all he can do about the freak injuries that continually happen to our players.
  18. For fucks sake, the injury curse over this club just won't go away.
  19. Ideally Big Sam will be able to bring in another 4 players, but it may be he manages less than that. If so then we absolutely have to get a LB and next would be another CB, beyond that i'd like another RB and really a covering LB to get rid of Babayaro. Even better if he brought in a bit of a creative flair player as a surprise as well!
  20. Aye, good shout. They don't make this kid of shit anymore, the China O'Brien series is also worth a mention. I got as far as China O'Brien 2 was there more??? I remember seeing the first one again relatively recently (on ch5 i think) and the fighting was alot worse than i remembered! Not sure why as Cynthia Rothrock was a talented marshall artist and i think she coreographed them. Best of the best had some unintentionally hilarious moments needless to say! And J2J is right to mention the legend that is "Commando"
  21. I agree, not just unfunny, but highlights the fact by usually resorting to shouting things louder, as if that makes it funny, how she got thorugh to that last comic standing i can't imagine! Its the same on most of these type of shows, there's a few women who can handle it, such as Jo Brand (who's standup i wouldn't bother with, but is good on these shows imo) but often they are just so weak next to the blokes. You get more women who can handle it on say HIGNFY who aren't comedians at all, usually from the media or some oher area and they work out well.
  22. We've been talking about it and i forgot to watch the fucker! I'll have to catch the repeat. I watch Mock the week, forget about Hyperdrive (just as they forgot to add any jokes, wasting the likes of Nick Frost and "The actor" Kevin Eldon) and then watch Still Game.
  23. He's in for a shock! The fans may be a 12th man but its for the opposition these days.
  24. If it's any consolation, I've been kept largely in the dark too. I'm sure that'll be a big comfort to him! I have no idea what's been going on either, as i'm one of those rare people who has to actually work during the day at work and can't post on here all day.
  25. I agree. There's shitloads of footy on tv i don't bother with at all, and i watch alot less non NUFC (and England) footy than i did as a kid, but there's nowt wrong with it being there for those who do want to watch it all.
